About Me

thanks for popping by! my name is linda, i live in canada with my husband, my best friend, of 40 years. we are bereaved parents, having lost our son in june 2009 to brain cancer; i started this blog in june 2010 to motivate me to continue creating while i travel along my grief journey. we also have a daughter and two grandbunnies that she rescued.

i’ve had some kind of creative outlet since i can remember, but when i was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis i had to give up all of my hobbies.  in 2007, i attended a card making class and was happy to discover it was something i could do; watercolouring is my favourite technique and one that i can easily manage, so i watercolour almost all images. i love the CAS (clean and simple) style, but i also love challenges that take me out of my comfort zone. my daughter created my pink snail avatar for me in 2008.

updates:

october 2010 – last month i had four surgeries on my left wrist and hand to alleviate pain, but i lost some function in the process, so i’m a slower snail now.

november 2015 – sadly, one of my little grand bunnies passed away on november 10, 2015.

december 2016 i had a knee replaced, which means a bit less time to play while i focus on rehab.

june 2017 I had a hip replaced so rehab is once again my focus but I create when I can.

  1. Hi, this is such a cute blog. The cards, the banner picture, and the snail avatar are all great. Enjoy blogging!

  2. I like how you put “slowly moving along a stamping journey”. so cute, picturing the pink snail going along, doing stamp art, making its way through the intriguing landscape in the banner.

thanks, lianne! when i started this blog, i browsed through wordpress for a theme and looked no further when i found this one.

  3. Dear Linda,

I am an online buddy of your daughter and her bunny. My own bunny’s name is HB, which is short for Honey-bunny. Your daughter showed her friends your latest creation (the two bunnies in an underground burrow) and we are all enchanted by it.

I am so glad you have found such a wonderful way of still being able to exercise and share your creativity with others, despite your RA. My own mother had RA very bad but it still didn’t stop her from plying her favourite craft, crochet, for many years. Your cards are just lovely. My personal preference is for sophisticated designs rather than cute ones, although I have nothing against cute, especially when they are as clever as yours (e.g. “I love you so mush”). I particularly love what you did with the cool greens of the Summer butterflies “Hello” card (August 1, 2015), and the silver metallic “Thank you” card (July 1, 2016) is a knockout!

Long may you continue to enjoy your art.

    Warm regards,
    Sabina

The image is so sweet and lovely, and what a very great design.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
