the tag inspiration for day 10 is a colour palette that i love:

my inspiration for my tag is both designers, Heather Meeson and Kryssi Ng, who created scenes with some greenery and an animal.

i coloured on kraft with albrecht durer watercolour pencils, used adorable images from the memory box bunny wishes set, die cut it with a paper smooches tag die and finished it off with ribbon and twine.

i’m also submitting this tag to the Paper Smooches December challenge: WINTER-HOLIDAYS-NEW YEARS!!!!!!

i used the colour palette for the day 9 tag and leftover bits of my larger tag to create a small set of tags:

my little tags were inspired by designer Sharon Harnist, who challenged participants to combine frosty white with beautiful metallic gold and/or silver, to create a classic elegant holiday tag! Sharon included a tree with a present on her tag and she also provided a couple of lovely inspiration photos of trees and presents so that’s what i went with. i die cut taylored expressions presents from gold and silver mirri and attached them to a white paper with gold threads.

the inspiration for day 8 is my favourite technique of all and one that i use almost every time i create:

i love the colourful inspiration by artist Margaret Berg, who paints outside the lines beautifully, and designer Carly Tee Minner’s interpretation of it so that was my inspiration for my tag.

i painted the lawn fawn stitched circle tag with winsor and newton watercolour paints and added snow. after i die cut the lawn fawn trees i painted them with twinkling H2Os, added stickles and finished it off with two ribbons.

the challenge for the day 7 tag is a sketch:

i was inspired by Melania Deasy’s elegant gold glitter tag.

this was a quick and easy tag and i finally used some of this gold/brown printed mirri paper that’s been in my stash for some time; it was already cut in strips so i just attached five of them to a base cut with a paper smooches tag die and added ribbon and twine.

i’m also submitting this tag to the Paper Smooches December challenge: WINTER-HOLIDAYS-NEW YEARS!!!!!!

any tips for taking photos of creations with mirri would be greatly appreciated.

the day 5 theme, frozen, perfectly fits today’s weather – only our second snowfall, but it looks like a blizzard again.

my tag was inspired by designer Brandi Kincaid’s tag and her white circle, greenery and blue gems. my loose interpretation is that this transparent paper reminded me of the greenery and gems and all i added was a white glitter die cut snowflake and finished it off with a bow and twine.

i’m up to day 4, which is another technique challenge: felt. store bought felt shapes are the only ones i’ve ever used since i’ve not had much success die cutting it myself – until now.

Jennifer McGuire used die cut felt embellishments on a textured background so that’s what inspired me.

i die cut the tiny hero arts trees from green felt, added garlands of hologram stickers and attached each to a watercolour background that was die cut and embossed.

the inspiration for the day 3 tag is a new to me technique to use foil:

i was inspired by Carissa Wiley’s tag and her cute snowman with strips of foil added to her design.

this was my first attempt to use foil and it was fun. i used a laminator after i printed the Lilyboo Designs Digital Stamp – Ho HoHo from buddly crafts and used foil on scor pal tape for the strip and attached it to a gold mirri base.

the Day 2 of the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist theme is glitter; i love the look but not the mess, which is why i usually use stickles even if the bottles are hard to squeeze with my hands.

both talented designers Julia Stainton & Kay Miller used circle shapes to either feature a glittery image or as a tag shape so i was inspired to create a tiny simple circle tag. i die cut a house from the back of the teal designer paper from my day 1 tag and covered it with double sided adhesive paper and crystal ritz glitter.

i created another tag for Day 1 of the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist using the colour palette of red, teal, green and pink:

i was inspired by both Laurel Beard and Sandy Allnock, who coloured images for their festive tags.

this time i painted a cute penny black image (love at xmas) with twinkling H2Os and winsor & newton watercolour paints. the background is painted with teal and i used a teal paper for the base; of course i added stickles for the snow and around the edge of the image and i added white flocking for the fur trim. the sentiment is a gold peel off that i coloured with a red permanent marker.

i created four tags using an older hero arts image and sentiment from one of the first sets i bought when i started card making and i still love it.

i coloured with derwent inktense pencils, added yellow stickles to the stars, some snow and finished them off with green ribbon. thanks to my new precision press, which i love, i added a sentiment and used it to stamp the to and from on the back.

Cork Board Reminder

i created this little cork board reminder for someone special who needed a gentle reminder to keep going regardless of how long it takes.

the sentiment is a magenta stamp i purchased when i won a gift certificate to the store and, for the first time, i used the magenta nuance powders to create the background. so much fun! the pom pom ribbon was also purchased with a gift certificate i won for the ribbon girl.

wishing you the best of everything for the new year! i don’t remember ever making a new year’s card before but while i was designing cards for buddly crafts, i found some hidden gold glitter paper and thought it would coordinate perfectly with the image.

the glasses from the Love is in the Air clear stamp set were stamped in gold ink, coloured with my favourite Faber-Castell Albrecht Dürer Watercolour Pencils and i added the die cut gold glitter border and numbers.

last but not least, and the one that took the longest, is my tag for day 12 of the Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge.

i was inspired by day 12 designer sandy allnock’s ornaments made with yupo. i tried watercolouring on yupo over a year ago and found it to be quite challenging; however, when i saw sandy’s creations i thought i’d give it another go – i’m still not a fan, but it was something different for a change. yupo is a plastic surface used in the printing industry and adopted by artists; it’s water resistant, will not absorb a wet medium and needs to air dry. after two days of drying time, as sandy suggested, i covered the green bracts with glossy accents, which is difficult with my RA and hands so the pink ones got tossed and i replaced them with watercolour paper and twinkling H2Os.

the memory box grapevine wreath and stems with berries were also coloured with twinkling H2Os and i added a mirri gold wplus9 die cut merry sentiment, inspired by Dawn Woleslagle, a bow, some string and i have a tree ornament or a present tag.

the theme for day 11 of the Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge is ’twas the night before christmas.

i was inspired by the warm yellow lighting that both Sharon Harnist and Jean Manis, Day 11 designers, used so i painted a yellow glow around this indoor creature, a penny black mouse, and watercoloured with twinkling H2Os. i used a bright pink permanent marker to change the gold peel off sticker to pink and added some ribbon.

i made up for lost time yesterday and created a tag for day 10 of the Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge.

my tag is a literal interpretation of the sketch and was inspired by Kelly Alvarez’s tag; i like how she created a scene inside the circle so i did that too, but with a setting sun. i used lawn fawn dies and white glitter card stock for the trees and mini snowflakes and coloured with distress inks.

i created this tag for Day 7 of the Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge and look who the inspiration is for today.

i was inspired by julie ebersole’s watercoloured tag and miriam prantner’s santa’s scene she created so i put santa in a snow globe and watercoloured with twinkling H2Os; this image is actually three stampendous stamps from one set: santa, the snow globe and the sentiment.

my RA symptoms are a bit exacerbated today, so i only got one tag made for day 8 of the Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge and this one was really challenging.

i was inspired by day 8 designer jill foster and her cute penny black image, colour palette and all the dimension.

i watercoloured this adorable snowman (snow woman?) with twinkling H2Os in pink, yellow, orange, purple, blue, grey and some burgundy for the heirloom carrot nose. i embossed the kraft paper with a cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder and lightly applied white ink; the image was die cut with a my favorite things stitched circle die and popped on foam tape. pink and clear stickles were added and i coloured a gold peel off sticker sentiment with permanent markers to make it orange. to finish it off, i added two ribbons. this is going to my daughter because she loves silly snowmen too.

i created this tag for day 6 of Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge and it was fun learning a new technique by Jennifer McGuire.

i usually use stickles and don’t have a lot of loose glitter, but i do have a blue and a green ritz glitter and used both of them on this tag to alternate the colours.

i managed to create another tag today; this is for day 4 of the ellen hutson’s 12 Tag of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015.

i was inspired by Kay Miller’s tag; i love the colours, the snowflakes and how she layered anther tag behind the first.

it was a lot of fun creating this tag for day 3 the ellen hutson’s 12 Tag of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge.

i was inspired by Laurel Beard’s stocking tag so i die cut the memory box stocking and free hand cut the toe and heel from glitter paper; the letters were also die cut from glitter paper using the memory box alphabet die.

i love making tags so i’m playing along with ellen hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge. last year was the first time i joined in and only managed to create a couple; i’m not sure how many i’ll get made this year, but it’s fun getting lost in the creative zone.

i was inspired by both designers’ tags for Day 1; i liked the bright pink and trees Carolyn Peeler used and the larger die cut sentiment on Stephanie Wincott’s.

Snowflakes Are Kisses

the Noor! Design UK challenge #10 is shaped cards so i made a mitten card, but the design team are showcasing some adorable owls and pumpkins.

i was lucky enough last month to win the Noor! Design Store voucher so i purchased dies from my wish list including this winter wishes ice crystal no. 3, covered in blue frantage and layered on brown shimmer cardstock. i cut two mittens and attached the back to the front so it stands up from the bottom.

i’m also playing along with the jingle belles who are Shopping Our (Jingly!) Stash! from my stash i used designer paper on this card that is almost two years old; since this is a joint challenge with shopping our stash, i’m linking my card up there too.

Shiny Ornament Tag

i’m playing along with the lawnscaping challenge, No. 109, sparkle and shine, which i thought was perfectly suited to a christmas tag.

i used the Marianne Design Decorative Tags, stamped, watercoloured with twinkling H2Os, and sponged the edges with distress inks. i also had some fun splattering and i finished it off with a sheer striped pink bow and some twine.

i’m submitting this to kathy’s 30 day colouring challenge – day 30. this challenge was just what i needed this month; something to focus on and stay motivated to colour and create. i may have coloured everyday but i couldn’t share some of my DT projects yet.

Wrap It Up Twice

the jingle belles’ ‘wrap it up’ prompt is to create with wrapping paper or tags; yesterday i shared a tag and today i have these 3 inch cards that came together very quickly with wrapping paper. i love goofy snowmen. just because i felt guilty about no stamping and colouring, i stamped a blue snowflake on the inside.
