wow! i feel so lucky to be a randomly selected winner of a prize in last week’s penny black saturday challenge blog – a 15% lifetime discount at PB Stamps. as a big fan of Penny Black cute critters, it’ll be put to good use. this week’s pbsc is to create any shape of card other than square, so i relied on a ready made rectangle; it’s so easy to think of ways to cut corners with a cast on my left arm. this card represents what i love about cardmaking – watercolouring with distress inks, clean and simple and cute. thanks for popping by.

CAS Butterfly
clean and simple is my preferred style, so i made another card for the caardvarks challenge. besides, i think the pain in my hand (11 days to cast removal) is distracting me; for the second time this week, i forgot to read the fine print on challenge blogs. so, one card was a day late and another is ineligible – i think i’ll stick to not combining challenges and just admire those that do. :) i watercoloured the butterfly, added stickles, sponging, ribbon, punched border and papers. thanks for popping by.
Fall Fun
fall is here! i love the cooler temperatures, the colourful leaves and hot chocolate. the penny black saturday challenge #120 is indian summer. i watercoloured teddy and the sky and added leaves that were punched, curled and distressed. i don’t usually combine challenges, but i’m spending more time blurfing than cardmaking with my cast on; some of my blogging buddies surprise me when i see how many they combine. i discovered windows vista has improved an earlier version of a speech to text program, so that’s another challenge i’m working on as typing with one finger is laborious. thanks for popping by.
i’m also entering my card in these challenges:
simon says…it’s autumn
paper pretties – animal
a crafty little place #58 – autumn daze
stamp something: fall colours
my partner in crafting crime – Challenge #12: Clean and Simple
caardvarks – clean and simple
Witch Will It Be?
the penny black blog’s first challenge was to scraplift a card made by Penny Black Designer Ashley Marcu; i used the layout. this is the first year i purchased Halloween stamps; i rarely make cards for the occasion, but i couldn’t resist this set – it’s so cute! i watercoloured the image, added floss, punched flowers and a spider brad. of course i added stickles to the dots on her dress. thanks for popping by.
Christmas Down Under
the theme of lili of the valley’s Challenge 66 is Untraditional Christmas, so i was glad that i could participate as i’ve missed a few. i’m particularly fond of this teddy stamp; i wish there were more. (hint, hint). until i order some of the oh so cute Christmas stamps, this is the perfect image for a Christmas card for a friend in New Zealand. i watercoloured the image, added fibres, dew drops and a peeloff sentiment. i know some stampers refuse to use peeloffs, but it takes me just as much effort to align a sticker as it does to stamp with one hand. lol. Thanks for popping by.
A Stocking Full Of Cheer
penny black saturday challenge 118 is to make a masculine card, which i never have a problem doing; i’m fortunate that my husband doesn’t mind if i put glitter and bows on his cards. it’s more of a struggle to continue making cards with the cast on my arm and hand. it’s a good thing i usually make clean and simple cards, even though they now take a bit longer to create. thanks for popping by.
Post Surgery Post
surgery on my left hand and wrist last friday went well, but card making is more difficult with a cast, as is typing with one finger. however, i am determined to continue creating when i can. the penny black saturday challenge is purple, brown and cream – my daughter cut, punched and glued, while i watercoloured. thanks for popping by.
Happy Birthday, Danni!
this week’s flutterby wednesday challenge is a birthday blowout because Danni’s birthday is on saturday; check out what one lucky participant will have a chance to win – wow! Mercy Kerin created this week’s sketch challenge in honour of the occasion. i don’t have many verse stamps, but i like this one to use as a focal point or on the inside. thanks for popping by.
Quick Christmas Card
i made this for the first challenge at the Keep It Simple! blog, a weekly challenge blog, “designed to help you create beautiful, stylish, quick and simple cards in 30 minutes or less.” this week’s challenge is to make a red and green christmas card, which actually was a challenge for me because i like using non-traditional colours. i’m also submitting this for the Paper Sundaes’ christmas in august challenge. the sentiment is a stamp from JustRite ® Stampers. thanks for popping by.
Fall and Faux
i made this for two splitcoaststampers‘ challenges: sunday’s challenge is fun because you get to browse through the featured stamper’s gallery and case a card, but also change two or more items on it; this month’s fan club theme challenge is fabulous in faux. thanks for popping by.
Lovin’ Summer
i used my hedgie wedding couple sticker and hedgie hugging couple stamp for recent pbsc challenges, so i’m interpreting this week’s penny black saturday challenge of summer lovin’ loosely. the image is watercoloured with distress inks and stickles were added in spots. thanks for popping by.
Embrace Life
this is for splitcoaststampers’ inspiration challenge and sketch challenge and the flutterby wednesday challenge, which is an open theme this week. the butterfly is a hologram peeloff that i painted with twinkling H2Os and the strip was embossed, sanded and attached. thanks for popping by.
Snow Fence
i made this for two splitcoaststampers challenges:
Friday’s Queen For The Day Challenge, where stampers case a card from the Queen’s gallery and congratulate and honour a fellow stamper that gives each of us inspiration, supportive comments and a great sense of being a part of her life. i was inspired to use this striped ribbon i bought last summer, but it hasn’t worked with anything until today.
this is also for Friday’s Free 4 All challenge to “think snow…man!” i distressed the edges, sponged them with gold ink and did the same to the snowflakes – one is felt and one is punched. a gold dew drop was added to the centre. i added stickles to the trees and ground and added the ribbon. the sentiment is a peel off. thanks for popping by.
Winter Cabin
i literally followed this week’s card positioning system sketch 181 to create this card, one of those rare ones where i didn’t watercolour it. the image was stamped and just the one tree was glittered with stickles. thanks for popping by.
Hopping For A Green Christmas
i made this 3 by 3 inch card for the august caardvarks challenge to create a new Holiday gift tag or mini card that incorporates stamping. this was also for two challenges at splitcoaststampers: the inspiration challenge and the monthly christmas card challenge. thanks for popping by.
Little Witch
i love seeing all the different interpretations of the sketches over at Card Positioning Systems. i created this card using this week’s sketch, number 180; although i thought it might be a bit early for a halloween card, i see a couple there already. besides, this is a new penny black stamp that i couldn’t wait to ink up and watercolour with distress inks. thanks for popping by.
Make A Wish
this week’s Penny Black Saturday Challenge, Feeling Fruity, did not require my imagination to work overtime; i’m not even sure what kind of fruit it is, but it’s some kind of berry. the image is watercoloured with distress inks. thanks for popping by.
Hand Picked
i created this summer card for the lili of the valley four seasons challenge and the flutterby wednesday challenge, which is open-themed this week. the image is watercoloured and matted. thanks for popping by.
Summertime Blues
i created this for two challenges: the first Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful Challenge is to pick your favorite medium, which was easy since i watercolour almost every card – it helps me to momentarily escape from my grief journey; the second, the Simon Says Stamp! Challenge, which is summertime blues. thanks for popping by.
Beach Wedding
the Penny Black Saturday Challenge 113 was very challenging because i have no beach type stamps, but i did have a PB wedding sticker sheet so i used one and doodled in the sand for a beach wedding. the sentiment is from a PB clear set. thanks for popping by.
Glitter Garden
this is my submisison for the second monthly Penny Black At Allsorts challenge, which is glitz and glitter, and because they are looking to add some new faces to their Design Team. this is also for the Flutterby Wednesday #116, to use your favourite colour; mine is green, and for the CAS79 garden theme challenge at splitcoast. i watercoloured the image with distress inks and added stickles to the bee, butterflies, flower centres and border. thanks for popping by.
Memories of the Beach
i used the Italian Style colours of The Play Date Café Challenge 41, the CAS plus masculine theme of Pals Paper Arts Challenge 54, and the Stamptacular Sunday’s Challenge 71– to create a card or project that is just for boys. the shell was masked and stamped three times on patterned paper; i used coloured pencils to add a bit of colour and highlights. thanks for popping by.
New Baby
i made this for Lili of the Valley Challenge 59, another lovely sketch by DT member BEV. the image is watercoloured, the pink strip embossed and the yellow strip punched. thanks for popping by.
A Star Is Born
i made this for Card Positioning System’s Sketch 178 and of course i interpreted it quite literally; i think i’ll just need time to work on that. and, even though it’s very CAS, i did run the cuttlebug snowflake die through 16 times to get the tiny stars, plus i watercoloured them one at a time. thanks for popping by.
A Hint of Green
this is my first time participating in the The Play Date Cafe Challenge. PDCC40 is black and white with a hint of green. i love this magenta flower stamp; it makes for a quick CAS card. thanks for popping by.
