12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Day 6

i created this tag for day 6 of Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge and it was fun learning a new technique by Jennifer McGuire.

6a00d83451614969e201b7c7f2ef0a970b-320wi

i usually use stickles and don’t have a lot of loose glitter, but i do have a blue and a green ritz glitter and used both of them on this tag to alternate the colours.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com twelve tags feminine twist day 6.2015-1

i added two strips of scor pal tape, also covered with the blue glitter, rounded the corners and added my ribbons. thanks for popping by.

12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Day 5

i’m still working my way through Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge and here is the beautiful inspiration photo for day 5 with all its glitz and glitter.

6a00d83451614969e201b7c7f2ef00970b-320wi

i was inspired by the glittery gold used by both designers Carissa Wiley and Kryssi Ng to create this gold and white tag that i finished off with a gold peel off sentiment and two ribbons. thanks for popping by.

12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Day 4

i managed to create another tag today; this is for day 4 of the ellen hutson’s 12 Tag of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015.

6a00d83451614969e201bb089710f9970d-320wi

i was inspired by Kay Miller’s tag; i love the colours, the snowflakes and how she layered anther tag behind the first.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com twelve tags feminine twist day 4.2015-1

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com twelve tags feminine twist day 4.2015.back-1

i die snowflakes from glitter paper using the lawn fawn mini snowflakes die and attached them to a turquoise tag die cut with the lawn fawn tag you’re it die. the background was stamped in white with the penny black Christmas Story stamp. thanks for popping by.

12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Day 3

it was a lot of fun creating this tag for day 3 the ellen hutson’s 12 Tag of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge.

6a00d83451614969e201bb089710e1970d-320wi

i was inspired by Laurel Beard’s stocking tag so i die cut the memory box stocking and free hand cut the toe and heel from glitter paper; the letters were also die cut from glitter paper using the memory box alphabet die.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com twelve tags feminine twist day 3.2015-1

i finished it off by quilting the stocking, popping it on foam tape and adding ribbons. thanks for popping by.

12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Day 2

i’m slowly creating tags for the ellen hutson’s 12 Tag of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge and i finally finished my tag for day 2.

6a00d83451614969e201bb089780aa970d

i was inspired by both designers’ tags for Day 2; i like the dimension Kittie Caracciolo achieved and Dina Kowal’s watercolouring. i used twinkling H2Os as usual to paint what i’m calling a christmas rose and all the leaves and i created the woodgrain pattern with pumice stone distress ink.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com twelve tags feminine twist day 2.2015-1

thanks for popping by.

12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Day 1

i love making tags so i’m playing along with ellen hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge. last year was the first time i joined in and only managed to create a couple; i’m not sure how many i’ll get made this year, but it’s fun getting lost in the creative zone.

6a00d83451614969e201bb089780aa970d

i was inspired by both designers’ tags for Day 1; i liked the bright pink and trees Carolyn Peeler used and the larger die cut sentiment on Stephanie Wincott’s.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com twelve tags feminine twist day 1-1

i created the background with distress ink, die cut everything with glitter paper, layered the snow drifts and trees and added some snow and ribbons. thanks for popping by.

Penny Black And More December – Anything Goes With A Stamp

it’s the first sunday of the month and time for a new theme at the penny black and more challenge blog and it’s a very easy theme this month – anything goes with a stamp!

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com.pennyblack.dec2015.jpg

i decided to continue my christmas card making; i designed this card and made a set for my daughter. this adorable image, from the penny black clear stamp set ‘jolly friends’ 30-058 was watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and of course i added stickles on the ground and around the tab.

i hope you’ll come and play along – remember, you can use any company’s stamp for your focal point, just no digis please; a future guest designer will be selected from those who use a PB image and as always, there are some fabulous prizes to be won from Penny Black, Sizzix, Stamp Addicts.

visit the blog for some fabulous creations by my teamies.

thanks for popping by.

Time For Giving

Today I’m sharing a card that i designed for Buddly Crafts and features another adorable little bear image from the clear stamp set, Time for Giving.

COPYRIGHT LINDA @ SNAILZPACE.WORDPRESS.COM

i kept it clean and simple so most of the focus is on this little cutie that i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os; i also used the stamp image and sentiment from the Toby Tumble & Robins clear set.

Visit the Buddly Crafts Facebook page and blog for some very creative projects and updates about new products.

Christmas Holly Birds

I’m playing along with this month’s magenta challenge2 products of your choice from Magenta, 1 tree pattern (bark, branch etc.).

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com magenta december 2015

i used the Christmas Holly Birds stamp, watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and i added a magenta peel off gold sticker in the corner. while i was colouring this image, Ellie Knol – DT Magenta, posted an easy christmas card on the magenta blog using this same stamp; how striking to not colour it.

i was lucky enough to win a $25.00 certificate to the store last month and i must say how impressed i am with their fast shipping; no, i didn’t waste any time going shopping – thank you magenta!

thanks for popping by.

edit: in answer to anne’s question, i used the Sizzix 656644 Texture Fades Embossing Folders Tim Holtz 2PK – Bricked & Woodgrain Set and coloured it with distress ink.

Jingle All The Way

my parcel of crafty MFT goodies arrived just in time for me to play along with the my favorite things color challenge #33:

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_33

and also the MFT sketch challenge 255:

255

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com.MFT

the mittens are in a die set that came free with my purchase, and since they’re so cute i had to use them. this card came together quickly, thanks to the sketch and because there’s no stamping and colouring! even the sentiment is a sticker, so it’s fun to sometimes make cards that don’t take me so long.

i’d also like to submit this to the simon says wednesday challenge: christmas.

thanks for popping by.

Penny Black And More Mid November – Anything Christmas

i’m popping in just to remind you that you still have plenty of time to play along with us at the penny black and more challenge blog for the ‘anything christmas’ theme.

CAS Christmas Card

whew, i just made the deadline. the  jingle belles prompt this time is a sketch by the very talented stephanie, which i’ve not included here because i ran out of time. the camera batteries gave out, so i’ve taken this with the iPad; then wordpress froze and had to restart because i have yet to figure out how to post from the iPad.

anyway, here’s my card: a one layer card with a retiform design and a sanded die cut snowflake.

i’d also like to submit this to the noor! design uk november challenge – anything goes!

Penny Black And More November – Anything Christmas

i know i keep saying this, but i don’t know where the time goes! it’s the first sunday of the month and time for a new theme at the penny black and more challenge blog – this month we’d like to see anything christmas with stamping.

i used this fun image from the penny black stamp set ‘jolly follies’ that was a birthday gift – thank you so much anne! as usual, i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os.

Holly Tag

as i mentioned yesterday, i was so challenged by this month’s magenta challenge that i wanted to create another project. i love watercolouring images, so using one colour is really outside my comfort zone but i think i’m getting the hang of it.

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com magenta holly

the challenge is to create a project using:
1 Magenta stamp, 1 or more other Magenta product(s), and 1 colour (other neutrals allowed).

magenta products used:

  • a wood mounted holly stamp that i love at a garage sale years ago (it now comes in cling foam)
  • another new stencil for the background
  • permanent markers
  • silver peel off sentiment coloured green.

the seam binding was dyed green with twinkling H2Os and i made an embellishment to finish it off.

thanks for popping by.

Paper Pieced Poinsettia

i was really challenged by this month’s magenta challenge to create a project using:
1 Magenta stamp, 1 or more other Magenta product(s), 1 colour (other neutrals allowed).

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com magenta poinsettia.jpg

i used a magenta poinsettia stamp, heat embossed in white on magenta turquoise paper and again on the blue stripes of the reverse side to paper piece; the little dots in the corner were sponged on with a new magenta stencil.

thanks for popping by.

Snowy Day

today i’m sharing a card that i designed for Buddly Crafts featuring this adorable bunny image from the Buddly Craft clear stamp set called Toby Tumble’s Snowy Day.

COPYRIGHT LINDA @ SNAILZPACE.WORDPRESS.COM

as usual, i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os, added some stickles to the snow on the ground and used a soft snowflake digi paper from Pachela Studios Digi Papers – Toby Tumble’s Christmas Papers. i die cut two Joy! Crafts Winter Wishes Snowflake Border and added a glitter paper border created with scor-pal tape and glitter.

Visit the Buddly Crafts Facebook page and blog for some very creative projects and updates about new products.

i’d like to submit this card to these challenges:
kathy’s 30 day colouring challenge
one crazy stamper – Christmas/Halloween/Fall
Christmas at Sweet Stampin’ – Christmas Travel or Transport
ABC Christmas Challenge – ‘U’ is for Unusual Christmas Colors

Thanks for popping by.

Snowy Cottage

with the cooler temperatures, i feel like winter is just around the corner and i’m increasingly focused on creating christmas cards – in about six weeks they’ll need to be mailed already. so, today I’m sharing a card using an image from the wintery Buddly Crafts clear stamp set, Snowy Cottage.

COPYRIGHT LINDA @ SNAILZPACE.WORDPRESS.COM

i watercoloured the sky and image with twinkling H2Os, attached it to a glitter paper mat and then popped it on foam tape to the embossed Background Snowflakes.

i’d like to submit this card to these challenges:
kathy’s 30 day colouring challenge
virginia’s view challenge 19 – all things coloured

Holiday Hugs

the Jingle Belles prompt this time is to make cards for people who don’t celebrate Christmas. as a bereaved parent, i know that people who have experienced a loss may not agree that ‘it’s the most wonderful time of the year.’

COPYRIGHT LINDA @ SNAILZPACE.WORDPRESS.COM

in 2008, a couple of weeks before christmas and my son’s birthday, he was diagnosed with brain cancer and passed away in june 2009. since then, we’ve changed how we observe the season. paradoxically, i enjoy making christmas cards year round; i just don’t look forward to the actual holiday.

i’m more sensitive to how people might feel about certain sentiments so i think sending holiday hugs will be welcomed.

i watercoloured this cute daricies snowgirl with twinkling H2Os; isn’t she cute? i made this for a family member who loves silly snowmen as much as i do.

i’m also playing along with:
kathy’s 30 day colouring challenge
simon says wednesday – clean and simple christmas
one crazy stamper – Christmas/Halloween/Fall (i submitted a halloween card already)

thanks for popping by.

Snowflakes Are Kisses

the Noor! Design UK challenge #10 is shaped cards so i made a mitten card, but the design team are showcasing some adorable owls and pumpkins.

COPYRIGHT LINDA @ SNAILZPACE.WORDPRESS.COM

i was lucky enough last month to win the Noor! Design Store voucher so i purchased dies from my wish list including this winter wishes ice crystal no. 3, covered in blue frantage and layered on brown shimmer cardstock. i cut two mittens and attached the back to the front so it stands up from the bottom.

i’m also playing along with the jingle belles who are Shopping Our (Jingly!) Stash! from my stash i used designer paper on this card that is almost two years old; since this is a joint challenge with shopping our stash, i’m linking my card up there too.

thanks for popping by.

Winter Bunny

i’m playing along with the Magenta Challenge and the august theme of anything goes. i’m not very happy with my inked up stencil designs yet, so i went back to my comfort zone and coloured an image.

COPYRIGHT LINDA @ SNAILZPACE.WORDPRESS.COM

i watercoloured this magenta bunny with twinkling H2Os and i did use the magenta dots stencil on the red cardstock and added a magenta peel off sentiment sticker; i used the magenta markers to change it and the little snowflakes from silver to red.

thanks for popping by.

Special Delivery

this week the jingle belles are celebrating all things POSTAL so i inked up this older stamp for the first time to create a card.

COPYRIGHT LINDA @ SNAILZPACE.WORDPRESS.COM

i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and watercolour pencils, added a peel off sentiment that was silver, but i coloured it red and attached everything to a layer of shimmery silver cardstock. i’m also playing along with the August Rudolph Days Challenge at scrappymo’s blog.

thanks for popping by.

Cookies 4 Santa

i’m playing along with the jingle belles who are using this inspiration photo for their prompt:

Aqua-Red-Decorated-Christmas-Cookies-via-www.thebearfootbaker.com_

COPYRIGHT LINDA @ SNAILZPACE.WORDPRESS.COM

the colour combination is not one i would’ve thought to use, but it grew on me and now i really like it; the snowman even has aqua stickles on his buttons. my intention was to make a couple of cards incorporating some of the cookie designs; somehow i ended up using them all on one card and i added snow dots all over. my brand new camera battery gave out for the third time, so i’ve taken this photo with my iPad – not bad, but not the sharpest.

thanks for popping by.

Four Calling Birds

i think this Crissy Armstrong Four Calling Birds techie take is too funny.

COPYRIGHT SNAILZPACE.WORDPRESS.COM

this was so much fun to colour and, as usual, i watercoloured the sky and birds with twinkling H2Os and added stickles to their hats and around the edge of the image panel.

i’d like to submit this card to these challenges:

Round Christmas Card

the marianne design divas’  theme is round cards or use circles; this circle card was so much fun to create – there’s a fold at the top, hidden by the seam binding.

COPYRIGHT LINDA @ SNAILZPACE.WORDPRESS.COM

i watercoloured the poinsettias, seam binding and the inlaid sentiment with twinkling H2Os and used these marianne design products, available at buddly crafts:

Marianne Design Embossing Folder – Anja’s Decorative Border DF3405
Marianne Design Craftables Die – Circles CR1201

Rudolph In A Snow Globe

i had fun creating this shaker card, probably the third one i’ve ever made. now that my stash of sequins is growing, i might make more; i just need to figure out how to not have the camera reflecting back in the window.

COPYRIGHT LINDA @ SNAILZPACE.WORDPRESS.COM

i stamped the poppy stamps rudolph, watercoloured with twinkling H2Os, die cut the memory box snow globe for the window and added some pretty pink posh clear sequins and seed beads.

i’m playing along with these challenges:

Shiny Ornament Tag

i’m playing along with the lawnscaping challenge, No. 109, sparkle and shine, which i thought was perfectly suited to a christmas tag.

1920416_10205213003230483_6087235880717357886_n

some of the sparkle and shine is not showing up in the photo, but i covered the ornaments with glossy accents, edged the top tag layer with stickles and painted the background with a gold twinkling H2O that really shimmers.

Let It Snow

not quite yet, i feel like i’m still getting over the record amount of snow we had this past winter. we easily could’ve built any size of snowman, including one like this.

bigsnowman

i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os, watercolour paints and watercolour pencils and added red stickles to the berries and clear stickles to the heart on the scarf.

i’m playing along with these challenges:
jingle belles – let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
rudolph days – to create holiday cards on the 25th of every month (open until month’s end)
christmas card challenges – anything goes

Holiday ATC

i’m playing along with the Lawnscaping Challenge theme to try a new technique. the limited space of ATCs (artist trading cards) intimidate me; they’re 2.5″ by 3.5″ and can be purchased in packages as seen at the strathmore site or you can cut your own.

10635999_10205213001150431_2684927199443886299_n

christmas ATC

i used the strathmore 400 Series Watercolor ATCs for my new technique – to create a holiday ATC.

i painted the sky and die cut trees (lawn fawn snow day) with twinkling H2Os, popping the front row with foam squares; i added red, yellow and green stickles to the trees and clear stickles for falling snow. the snow day sentiment fit perfectly across the bottom to finish it off. i think i conquered my fear of ATCs and might make more of these now.

thanks for popping by.

Hybrid Holiday Card

the current jingle belles prompt is to create a hybrid holiday card and there’s a free festive digi kit available from one of their sponsors; visit their blog for more details.

Buddly Crafts Penguin

i watercoloured this cute penguin from a buddly crafts clear stamp set, christmas buddies, but it is also available as a digi. my printer doesn’t like the heavier watercolour paper so i don’t use a lot of digis; besides, there’s just something about the old fashioned process that i like.

my digi elements are papers from buddly crafts, both created by owner Kim: Pretty Classic Christmas (trees) and Cottage Collection (yellow).

the tab is die cut from my favourite new banner die – Joy! Crafts Cutting Die – Labels & Tags; the foam on the die makes the banners pop right out on their own, which makes me happy. i finished it off with a self adhesive red gem.

the sentiment, from the same set, is stamped in green and i added stickles to the snow on it, the tree and to create dots to the scarf and present.

i’m also playing along with:
Christmas at Sweet Stampin – cute
Cutie Pie Challenge – challenge #87 layer it up…but keep it cute
Top Tip Tuesday – animals
Wags ‘n Whiskers – No. 154 Lots of Layers

thanks for popping by.

PEACE

the current jingle belles’ prompt is a sketch by stephanie; i had so many ideas of ways to use it, but i only had time for this one for now. one idea was to make a one layer card, but i had to trim off a flaw so i ended up matting it to make an A2 card. IO.PEACE i painted twinkling H2O watercolour washes, embossed with a leane creatief embossing folder that i love and sanded it to reveal the w/c paper. i added the impression obsession peace sentiment die cut from black mirri paper that i found easier to attach using my xyron sticker machine than a glue pen. the tiny dots are also cut with the mirri. one more christmas card for my stash.

i’d like to also submit it to these challenges:

Christmas Shopping

i made this card for my daughter and even though she’ll get a sneak peek of it here, she’ll have to wait to see what kind of gift card goes with it. this was such a fun image to colour – i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and winsor & newton watercolour paints.

christmas shopping

all the marianne design items used on this card were purchased from cuddly buddly crafts – check out the new website: christmas shopping image, poinsettia, leaves, merry christmas, just for you, classic christmas papers.

Fa-la-la-la-la at Jingle Belles

i had every intention of avoiding a last minute creation for the jingle belles prompt, but time and energy have not been abundant enough; better late than never should be my motto.

bells

the current jingle belles prompt is to create cards that:

  • incorporate music
  • are inspired by a holiday song or
  • include a holiday song title

i started off with silver bells (the song was stuck in my head) but that looked kind of blah so i pieced the memory box bells together using different colours of mirri paper. i attached the vellum music piece to some light blue card stock and then to the mirri.

because of the reflective nature of the mirri, my camera kept appearing and of course then my battery had to be recharged so this is from my cell phone, taken on an angle so you won’t see it or me in there. this card looks much better in real life and now i have my dad’s christmas card done.

thanks for popping by.

Christmas Ornaments

the current jingle belles prompt, which i’m playing along with at the last minute once again, is embossing – dry and/or heat. this was one of the fastest cards i’ve ever made – i dry embossed and added a gold peel off sticker that looks copper in the photo.

dry embossed ornaments

i’m also playing along with rudolph day, hosted by scrappymo, since i missed last month; there just aren’t enough hours in the day. thanks for popping by.
