Day 5 Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas 2021 Challenge

this is the tag I created for day 5 of Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas 2021 Challenge: I’ll Be Home for Christmas with Elena Roussakis + Becky Roberts

I made a light-hearted tag for this sad song – Rudolph is driving teddy home for the holidays; I used the design from my cards and reduced the size of the road and houses to fit onto the tag.

Rudolph driving a car in front of a holiday scene, a tag for Ellen Hutson's twelve tags 2021 challenge

the lawn fawn car critters and the car critters christmas add-on were watercoloured with twinkling H2Os, fussy cut and popped on foam tape. I added a red pearl to Rudolph’s nose. I also used twinkling H2Os to paint the road, free hand cut from Arches cold press watercolour paper, and the Impression Obsession trees; the sky was sponged with distress inks.

Day 4 Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas 2021 Challenge Part Two

I was having so much fun painting washes that I made another tag for day 4 of Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas 2021 Challenge. this was a two-colour wash also done with Daniel Smith watercolour paint on Arches 140 lb. cold press watercolour paper.

December 4 – Let it Snow with Lisa Spanger + Caryn Davies

this was my first time using gina k glitter paste through a pretty pink posh snowflake stencil – fun, but oh, so messy!

painted snowflake tag for Ellen Hutson twelve tags 2021 challenge

I used the same paste on the Impression Obsession peace sentiment that was die cut and layered three times.

Day 4 Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas 2021 Challenge

these are the tags I created for day 4 of Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas 2021 Challenge.

December 4 – Let it Snow with Lisa Spanger + Caryn Davies

Lisa loves her watercolours and so do i. I painted flat washes with Daniel Smith watercolour paints on Arches cold press watercolour paper, embossed with a variety of folders and then sanded down the surface to reveal the paper. I finished the tags off with a lawn fawn die cut snowflake, a topper and some gold sparkle twine.

Day 3 Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas 2021 Challenge

this is the tag I created for day 3 of Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas 2021 Challenge.

December 3 – Feliz Navidad with designers Therese Calvird + Tiffany Pryce Russom is a lively holiday song but my mind kind of went blank with ideas to make this more festive. in the end, I let the punny sentiment suffice.

ellen hutson twelve tags 2021 tag 3 copyright linda snailzpace.com

I used images from lawn fawn: bah humbug stamp set and a hat from the holiday party animal set, but painted with twinkling H2Os on Arches hot press watercolour paper and fussy cut. the argyle paper was free with a lawn fawn order, die cut with an altenew heart die and finished off with lawn fawn gray sparkle twine.

My Last Rudolph Days Challenge Design Team Card

I’m stepping down from the Rudolph Days Challenge design team for health reasons; it’s just been difficult to keep up with creating and commenting and I’ve finally accepted my limitations.

this is the card set I created for my daughter this year to send out, which I just finished in time!

Christmas card featuring lawn fawn critter stamps

it’s Rudolph driving! aren’t they cute?! I used the lawn fawn car critters and the car critters christmas add-on, fussy cut and watercoloured with twinkling H2Os. I created the road free hand, sponged the sky and added snow and used Elizabeth craft houses and trees, also sponged and sprayed with clear shimmer.

the rules to play along are simple – just create one holiday project, link it up and then leave a comment on the challenge blog for a chance to win a generous prize. Plus, there’s an extra draw if you’ve played along every month; the challenge deadline is November 30.

I’m also playing along with these challenges:

LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 113 – HOLIDAY CRITTERS
Simon Says Stamp – Anything Goes

thanks for popping by.

Batty Halloween Treats

I made these bat boxes with Lindt chocolates for my dentist’s office; they love getting treats. I used the lawn fawn tiny gift box die and some blue/gray shimmery cardstock for the base and added black cardstock pieces from the bat box add on die.

I’m submitting these to the following challenges:

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge 111 Coffee, Tea and Treats!
Dies R Us Challenge #179 Always Anything Goes with a brand they sell
Simon Says Stamp Spooky/Halloween

thanks for popping by.

Tempting Turnips

such a classic layout for the LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 95 – CARD SKETCH but it took me a long time to come up with an idea; just in time for today’s deadline.

lawn fanatics sketch challenge

bunny card copyright linda snailzpace.com

fun fact: bunnies can eat turnips but only as an occasional treat.

I painted the bunnies and turnips with twinkling H2Os on Arches hot press watercolour paper, added cotton ball white flocking to bunnies’ tails and popped them on foam tape. the most difficult thing was photographing this card that’ll fit into a 5 x 7 envelope – larger than I usually create; but what are challenges for?

I’m also submitting this card to the As You Like It Challenge Favourite Reason To Send A Card (& Why): I love sending cards to brighten someone’s day, as in a good old fashioned snail mail creation.

Lawn Fawn supplies used:
Snow Day stamps and coordinating dies (bunnies)
So Much To Say (sentiments)
Stitched Garden Border (turnip)
Tiny Gift Box Bunny Add On (grass mound)

Otterly Adorable

Joey, the world’s most famous otter, provided entertainment through a live stream of his growth at the Ocean Wise Marine Mammal Rescue Centre in Vancouver last summer; he has his own youtube channel and now a special edition face mask featuring his image.

A friend gave me mini wobbles for Christmas so Joey came to mind – he sure can wriggle!

three cards featuring lawn fawn otter copyright Linda snailzpace.com

I started with painting the die cut Lawn Fawn stitched simple wavy borders, taped to a circle, and added a mat that was attached to some stonework paper. I painted the Lawn Fawn Winter Otter with twinkling H2Os, stamped the heart from the same stamp set, fussy cut and mounted them on mini wobbles. the sentiment is from the same small set and I added die cut Lawn Fawn mini snowflakes.

I’m submitting these cards to the LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 94 – WHAT’S THE WEATHER? It’s sunny, which will hopefully melt all the snow. If you need something to warm your heart, check out Joey.

12 Tags Of Christmas 2020 Day 12 Part Two

day 12 of of Ellen Hutson’s Twelve Tags of Christmas 2020 Challenge.

December 12 – 12 Days of Christmas with Julie Ebersole. Julie’s tags inspired me with her foiling technique; yay, I can foil! I watched the video and learned what I’ve been doing wrong. I painted this tiny bird for a partridge in a pear tree from the mama elephant holidays bitties set with twinkling H2Os on Arches hot press watercolour paper, die cut matte gold foil card stock with a lawn fawn winter tiny tags ornament die and foiled the berries with red foil.

12 Tags Of Christmas 2020 Day 4

this is my tag for Day 4 of the Ellen Hutson’s Twelve Tags of Christmas 2020 Challenge.

December 4 – Sleigh Ride with Lisa Spangler. I love Lisa’s sleigh with an adorable bunny and how mr. bunny helped during her painting session so I was inspired to add some bunnies to my tag.

I masked off the upper portion of the tag to sponge the background with distress inks; the bottom snow bank was die cut. snowflakes were stamped with hero arts white ink and I added stickles to the edges of the snow banks. I painted the images with twinkling H2Os on Arches hot press watercolour paper, die cut with coordinating dies and popped them all on foam tape. I added glossy accents to the sleigh trim and stickles to teddy’s hat and finished it off with a sentiment.

I’m also playing along with the LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 90 – COLOR INSPIRATION: i used the colours on the images.

Tiny Tag Sayings ‘merry wishes’

Christmas Kisses

i gave these cute Lawn Fawn tiny gift boxes to one of my specialist’s office staff; they hold one chocolate Lindt truffle or in this case, they’re stuffed with four Hershey kisses.

the papers are doodlebug and i white heat embossed a tiny tag sayings sentiment on the circle die that comes with the die set.

A Toast To You

i’m playing along with LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 65 – FUN WITH DIES! and i had a lot of fun creating this card.

i used lawn fawn’s let’s toast stamp set and coordinating dies and followed kelly’s video which was great because i’m a visual learner; first she shows how to create the basic mechanism and then a card. i did find that i had to double up on my foam tape to allow room for movement.

everything was painted with twinkling H2Os on hot pressed watercolour paper and i used lawn fawn’s spring fling 6 x 6 paper pad.

i’m also playing along with these challenges:

Interactive Mini Album

it was so much fun to create this little album even if i did make a big mess. the current LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 58 is INTERACTIVE so i had to be creative with their products since i don’t have many of their interactive dies.

mini album

i used lawn fawn’s spring fling papers, the LF Stitched Gift Card Pocket to create the pocket fronts and the front flap shape and a variety of embellishments all listed at the end of this post.

i used the LF Tag You’re It die to cut the pages, trimming off the top portion and turning them upside down. i used random cute images and painted them with twinkling H2Os on hot pressed watercolour paper.

the lemons were fussy cut and the chipmunk masked to allow for splatters.

i used a silver glitter pen on the flute and a clear gloss pen on the horn.

the floral card opens up and this is the inside:

the flap was sponged with distress ink and opens to reveal these little cuties, fussy cut, along with the log and two yellow flowers cut from the paper:

the album closes with a small magnet.

i’m also playing along with Scrapy Land Challenge #119 and its anything goes theme using dies sold at their store.

Camping Critters

i made another card for the current LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 55 MOOD BOARD & COLOUR INSPIRATION:

look who’s peeking out! i cut around the door with a kraft knife and added a piece of paper from the lawn fawn spring fling paper pad behind the door opening.

i’ve been having fun with the lawn fawn happy trails stamp set so this time i created a 3 inch card, painted with twinkling H2Os and added these cute little critters from the LF smooth sailing stamp set. everything was fussy cut, a challenge in itself with my RA hands so after i finished the card, i ordered the coordinating die set. then i’ll be a happy camper. i know.

i sponged distress inks: peacock feathers for the sky and twisted citron for the grass, cut with LF stitched hills die set. i stamped the sentiment from the LF oh what fun stamp set and stamped two suns from the LF so much to say stamp set so i could layer it.

thanks for popping by.

You Drive Me Happy

the current LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 55 MOOD BOARD & COLOUR INSPIRATION is full of summer items and bright colours.

summer camping card in bright colours

i painted the car and trailer from the Lawn Fawn happy trails stamp set with tombow markers bright set on hot press watercolour paper, cut with coordinating dies and added glossy accents to the windows. i stamped the line markings on grey cardstock and masked the two sentiments from the happy trails set to create this one. the sky was created with nuance powders and cold press watercolour paper and die cut clouds from the into the woods die set. to finish my card, i popped the vehicles on foam tape.

i’m also playing along with these challenges:
Little Red Wagon  #503 – Not About a Specific Event (this is an everyday card for my husband)
Addicted to Stamps and More #347- Make Your Mark (tombow markers)
Simon Says Wednesday – Anything Goes

Hip Hip Hooray!

i couldn’t be more proud of my daughter for earning her second degree; this is a spinning graduation cap tag i created to attach to a gift for her graduation party.graduation spinning cap tagi painted the lawn fawn smart cookie stamp graduation cap with my favourite black watercolour paint from sennelier and purple paint for the tassel then used the coordinating die.

i die cut two lawn fawn stitched circle tags: one from the spring fling paper pad and one white cardstock for the back that i stamped with ‘you’re one smart cookie’ from the smart cookie stamp set.

the slide on over circle die set was used for the interactive element; i stamped the sentiment from the tiny tag saying birthday stamp set, and layered with three pieces of yellow foam to create the channel. some of the foam needs to be trimmed from the edges to allow room for the penny/disc to move and spin the cap as it travels along the channel.

campers at dusk; remember those long road trips?

i used 140 lb. cold press watercolour paper for lawn fawn’s stitched hillside border and sky; i swiped wild honey and worn lipstick distress inks on craft mat, spritzed with water and pressed the paper into it to create my background. lawn fawn’s happy trails images were stamped on 140 lb. hot press w/c paper and painted with my new daniel smith watercolour paints that i treated myself to; for years i’ve painted with twinkling H2Os so i need more play time to get used to these.

the hill was popped on foam tape, as were a couple of the trees and the vehicles. to finish it off, i cut a strip of paper that was sponged with black soot distress ink and i added the lines with a white gel pen.

i’m also playing along with the anything goes theme at Simon Says Wednesday.

May Flower

just a reminder that there is still plenty of time to play along with the Penny Black and More Challenge and the feminine or anything goes theme.

i used this sweet image from a new penny black clear stamp set, 30-553 it’s your day, painted with twinkling H2Os on hot pressed watercolour paper and die cut with one of the dies in the mama elephant bookmark it set.

to finish it off, i used the lawn fawn stitched rectangle die for the print paper.

Bunny Boxes

i had so much fun creating these little bunny boxes.

bonus, i had to get some Lindt chocolates, because they each hold one. i used the lawn fawn bunny add-on die and sponged some pink distress ink onto the cheeks.

i’m playing along with these challenges:

LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 52 – PET LOVE, which of course is for my grand bunnies.

As You Like It Challenge Favourite Non Card Project (& why): i love making 3D items like this cute lawn fawn tiny gift box; people love the treat inside but also love hanging on to the box to use or to give to someone else. i’m always surprised how something so little can bring such happiness to the recipients.

thanks for popping by.

Snow Hearts

the current lawn fawnatics challenge theme is LOTS OF LOVE!

lawn fawn penguin hearts copyright linda snailzpace.com-1

i painted these cute lawn fawn Snow Cool penguins with twinkling H2Os on hot press watercolour paper, die cut from coordinating dies, and popped them on foam tape to a distress ink sponged background. i did stamp the snowflakes with white ink and attached hearts from the Say What? Gift Tags die set and snowflakes from the mini snowflake die set. i stamped the sentiment from the Snow Cool set in purple ink and added glitter to her hat.

i’m also playing along with these challenges:

Cute Card Thursday – Challenge 567 – Valentines
As You Like It Challenge – Favourite Shape or Fold; my favourite shape is the rectangle because it is easily divided into thirds and i usually use two thirds for an image and one third for a sentiment – that’s my comfort zone.

thanks for popping by.

Winter Wonderland

i’m playing along with the LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 43 – WONDERFUL WINTER and this inspiration image and colour palette:

i painted these adorable snow people from the lawn fawn ready, set, snow set with my new winsor & newton watercolour markers on hot pressed watercolour paper. the trees from the same stamp set were stamped in grey ink, die cut with coordinating dies and some were popped on foam tape.

i painted the snow cones from the lawn fawn snow cool set, glued them together to form a heart and popped them on foam tape too.

i sponged the sky with distress inks and added glitter to the cones, pom pom and trees.

12 Tags Of Christmas With A Feminine Twist 2018 Day 4

the day 4 theme for the Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2018 Challenge is:

Day 4 Twelve Tags Ellen Hutson 2018 copyright linda snailzpace.com

Justine’s tag inspired me with the cute critters in a circle. i rarely heat emboss and never with images so i heat embossed the snowflake background and the sentiment. everything was painted with tombow markers on hot pressed watercolour paper and popped on foam tape.

i’m also playing along with the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge 42 – Winter Holiday.

12 Tags Of Christmas With A Feminine Twist 2018 Day 3

the day 3 theme for the Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2018 Challenge is:

kelly marie’s tag inspired me with all the glitter so i used plenty on my tag. i started by creating my northern lights, then die cut the lawn fawn stitched circle tag and with double sided adhesive i covered it in glitter. i added more glitter to the rooftops and trees and painted everything with tombow markers on hot pressed watercolour paper and used coordinating lawn fawn dies. all the windows, doors and clock were coated with a clear glaze pen and all the images were popped on foam tape.

thanks for popping by.

Christmas Shadow Box Card

i made my first shadow box card with my scor-pal and it was fun to create! i’m playing along with the LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 41 – SHAPED CARDS which ends in 7 hours.

i followed jennifer mcguire’s video tutorial and i kept the front of the card clean and simple, masking words from the say what? christmas critters to fit with the merry from the happy happy happy add on die cut from a piece of tree paper in the lawn fawn really rainbow christmas 6 x 6 paper; the thin dotted strip is from the same paper pad and it was attached to a lime green base.

i painted this cute teddy with twinkling H2Os on hot pressed watercolour paper and die cut using the coordinating die; the stitched circle tag die was used to create an ornament window and i added a small bow. i used blue distress inks and oxide inks to create the sky, splattered with water.

i’m also playing along with the Scor-Pal More than One Score Challenge #55 December Anything Goes Christmas.

Holiday Fun

the lawnfawnatics challenge is a colour inspiration using any theme but i chose to make a christmas card since i’m a little behind on those:

lawn fawn teddy copyright linda snailzpace.com

i masked off the snow with a free hand torn piece of paper and for the first time used distress oxide inks; after i sponged the sky i added water droplets and white gel pen dots. teddy was painted with twinkling H2Os on hot pressed watercolour paper; i added glossy accents to the sleigh rails, glitter to the hat and popped him on foam tape. the heart swirl and sentiments were stamped with versafine blue lagoon and it was finished off with die cut snowflakes.

i’m also playing along with these challenges:

i really miss creating and i feel like i’m rusty, but family comes first and i did manage to make this tag today.

this cute fox from the lawn fawn into the woods stamp set was painted with twinkling H2Os on hot pressed watercolour paper; the sky, ground and speech bubble were sponged with distress inks. i flicked some water droplets into the sky. the sentiment is in the same set but the tag, speech bubble and eyelet were die cut with the new say what? gift tags die set – so cute!

Tiny Gift Boxes

these lawn fawn tiny gift boxes are just so fun and fast to make.

i was lucky enough to win a lawn fawn gift card from the ‘as you like it challenge‘ so i couldn’t resist this cute die. a tiny bow is included in the set but because of my RA, my fingers just couldn’t manage that so i decorated with shaped and sponged flowers and buttons instead.

i’m playing along with these challenges:

As You Like It: Favourite Ribbons or Buttons – and WHY? i like both but it depends on the project i’m creating so this time i used buttons just because i like them for flower centres.

Season’s Tweetings

i created a second card for the very challenging to me colour inspiration at the Lawn Fawnatics challenge 32.

lawn fawn christmas birds copyright linda snailzpace.com

i switched back to my hot pressed watercolour paper and i think i’ll stick to it for painting images. i used tombow markers to colour these cute lawn fawn ‘winter sparrows,’ but i used three different blue twinkling H2Os to paint the sky.

this is also my second entry to the As You Like It Challenge and the Favourite Celebration (&why) theme. as i previously mentioned, celebrations aren’t the same since my son passed away but i’ve always loved making christmas cards, especially whimsical ones that make me smile and relax while i paint them.

thanks for popping by.

Owl Wish You A Happy Birthday

the Lawn Fawnatics challenge 32 is a colour inspiration that i found to be quite challenging because it uses one of my least favourite colours: orange.

lawn fawn tag front copyright linda snailzpace.com

but i like blue and green so i persisted, although i’m not that happy with the results. for a change, i used cold pressed watercolour paper and i guess i’m too used to the hot pressed. anyway, i painted this cute owl from the new lawn fawn critter concert stamp set with tombow markers.

lawn fawn tag back copyright linda snailzpace.com

i die cut a second lawn fawn stitched circle tag, painted it with tombow markers and attached it to the back; the sentiment is from the tiny tag sayings set and the twine was a free gift with my last lawn fawn purchase.

i’m also playing along with the As You Like It Challenge and the Favourite Celebration (&why) theme. i don’t really like celebrations of any kind since my son passed away, but i do like making birthday cards for others because it’s a happier occasion for them and usually whatever i colour makes me smile.

thanks for popping by.

Cute Flower Bookmarks

i’v mentioned before how much i love making bookmarks and keeping my daughter stocked up for her textbooks.

the cute tiny lawn fawn smiley flower from the so much to say stamp set was stamped on some leftover scraps of hot pressed watercolour backgrounds and coloured with coloured pencils. i used an avery elle bookmark die and finished them off with white dots.

i’m submitting these to the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge 31 – flowers, floral and foliage!

thanks for popping by.

Merry Mint Green

i created this tag for day 7 of the Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2017 Challenge.

Day 7 Tag Designers are Heather Campbell & Elena Roussakis. i was inspired by Elena’s tag: i love the gold sentiment at the bottom and the snowy background with the cute characters in the middle.

i used a pink debased background and a mint green glitter tree in the middle with the gold mirri die cut sentiment on the bottom.

thanks for popping by.

A Little Christmas Treat

I’m playing with some new crafty goodies and the LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 17 – COLOR INSPIRATION:

 lawn fawn mittens.copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

i was inspired by the bottom right photo to create these little treats for one of my specialists and his staff. i die cut the lawn fawn winter tiny tags mitten, stamped and heat embossed one of the sentiments from the LF tiny tag sayings set and finished them off with a white die cut bow. i hope they like the ghirardelli peppermint bark squares as much as i do.
