12 Tags Of Christmas With A Feminine Twist 2018 Day 1

this is the fifth year i’ve created tags for the annual Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2018 Challenge and it’s an event that i love playing along with.

the day 1 theme is:

Day 1 Twelve Tags Ellen Hutson 2018 copyright linda snailzpace.com

Carolyn’s tag inspired me; i love how she divided up her tag into sections and i really liked the pink so i started with pink alcohol ink on glossy white paper but then i added purple and gold so more of those show. the watercolour paper poinsettia was smooshed into gold twinkling H2Os on a craft mat and the sentiment finished it off.  i had to photograph this off to the side because of the purple mirri paper reflections.

thanks for popping by.

Christmas Shadow Box Card

i made my first shadow box card with my scor-pal and it was fun to create! i’m playing along with the LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 41 – SHAPED CARDS which ends in 7 hours.

i followed jennifer mcguire’s video tutorial and i kept the front of the card clean and simple, masking words from the say what? christmas critters to fit with the merry from the happy happy happy add on die cut from a piece of tree paper in the lawn fawn really rainbow christmas 6 x 6 paper; the thin dotted strip is from the same paper pad and it was attached to a lime green base.

i painted this cute teddy with twinkling H2Os on hot pressed watercolour paper and die cut using the coordinating die; the stitched circle tag die was used to create an ornament window and i added a small bow. i used blue distress inks and oxide inks to create the sky, splattered with water.

i’m also playing along with the Scor-Pal More than One Score Challenge #55 December Anything Goes Christmas.

Penny Black And More Snow Globe Snowy

oh my, it’s the first sunday of the month so it’s a new theme at the penny black and more challenge -Traditional Christmas (reds, golds, greens).

I painted one of the cute images in the penny black under the mistletoe set with twinkling H2Os on hot pressed paper; the background is Penny Black festive & frosty paper.

remember your focal point must be hand stamped (any company) to be eligible for one of the fabulous prizes from this month’s sponsors: Penny Black, Heartfelt Creations stamps, and a future guest designer will be selected from those who use a PB image.

November Rudolph Days 2018

it’s the last 2018 Rudolph Days Challenge over at Maureen’s blog so by now you probably have a nice stash of holiday cards ready to mail.

Penny Black hedgie stocking copyright linda snailzpace.com-1

or maybe not, in which case you have until November 30 to be inspired and play along.

this cute penny black hedgie and presents were painted with twinkling H2Os; the coordinating hedgie die was a gift from Maureen for being a design team member. i was so happy that it allowed me to fit him in the window without having to fussy cut. i added a sentiment and two die cut frames were layered on top of my bokeh background that i created with sponges and distress inks; you could also use a circle stencil.

i’m also playing along with these challenges:

As You Like It Challenge Do you prefer rubber or digis? I prefer rubber stamps because I enjoy the process from inking a stamp to painting it and trying to figure out how best to showcase the image. Besides, I watercolour almost all images and printing on 140 lb. watercolour paper is not practical.

Holiday Fun

the lawnfawnatics challenge is a colour inspiration using any theme but i chose to make a christmas card since i’m a little behind on those:

lawn fawn teddy copyright linda snailzpace.com

i masked off the snow with a free hand torn piece of paper and for the first time used distress oxide inks; after i sponged the sky i added water droplets and white gel pen dots. teddy was painted with twinkling H2Os on hot pressed watercolour paper; i added glossy accents to the sleigh rails, glitter to the hat and popped him on foam tape. the heart swirl and sentiments were stamped with versafine blue lagoon and it was finished off with die cut snowflakes.

i’m also playing along with these challenges:

As You Like It Challenge Monochrome Or Rainbow (&why): colours brighten my day and i love to use a colourful palette, mix my own custom paint colours and coordinate colours.

Christmas Thank You

i’m playing along with the new impression obsession challenge theme of So Very Thankful!

i stamped some of the images in the IO christmas minis clear set (MC199) on kraft, used coloured pencils and a sentiment from the IO thanks sentiments set (CL41), and matted it onto a shimmer green cardstock.

i’m also playing along with these challenges:

Happy Rudolph Days September 2018

it’s time for this month’s Rudolph Days Challenge hosted by scrappymo and as always it’s an anything goes theme that starts on the 25th and ends on the last day of every month until November when you’ll be mailing all those cards.

MFT snowman copyright linda snailzpace.com

for my DT card, i painted this adorable snowman from the MFT cooler with you set with twinkling H2Os on hot pressed watercolour paper, added the MFT Die-namics Merry Christmas Circle Frame and some snowflakes. the sentiment and image panel is all popped on foam tape.

playing along is so easy – all you need to do is create one project to be eligible for a fabulous prize on offer so pop over to the blog to be inspired by the rest of the design team and to read the complete rules.

i’m also playing along with the september merry little christmas challenge of anything goes.

Sweet Snowman

i love snowmen and this larger sweet snowman, available at Frog’s Whiskers Ink, makes me smile.

edited: there is no direct link to this stamp so you have to search for Button Snowman J09027 at Frog’s Whiskers Ink to find him.

as usual, i painted with twinkling H2Os on hot pressed watercolour paper.

i’m submitting this card to these challenges:

Snow Buddy

since i really liked the teal and brown colours together on a recent thank you card, i used the combination for this christmas card.

paper smooches snowman copyright linda snailzpace.com-1

jingle belle stephanie created a cute christmas card using the paper smooches snowman 2 die so i had to use the same die for my card. i cut him from hot pressed watercolour paper, painted with twinkling H2Os, paper pieced his hat and scarf and attached him with foam tape to a paper smooches gift tag 2 found at the PS website.

i’m playing along with these challenges:

Paper Smooches – Christmas in July 2018 challenge
Jingle Belles – Christmas and All Bundled Up; i have 4 layers.
Simon Says Wednesday – Die and/or Punch

thanks for popping by.

Cup Of Christmas Cheer

i’m slowly creating more christmas cards and this one was a lot of fun to make.

paper smooches coffee cup copyright linda snailzpace.com-1

i used red card stock to die cut the paper smooches’ merry christmas die and cozy coffee die and cut the coffee die a second time from print paper to piece it back together before i popped it on foam tape. the heart die is included in the coffee die set so i cut it a couple of times and layered it with red glitter paper on top; all the supplies i used for this card can be found at the paper smooches website.

i’m playing along with these challenges:

Paper Smooches– Christmas in July 2018 challenge
Jingle Belles – must be Christmas – All Bundled Up; i have four layers here.
Cardz 4 Galz #76 Food & Or Drink
Simon Says Wednesday – Die and/or Punch

Season’s Tweetings

i created a second card for the very challenging to me colour inspiration at the Lawn Fawnatics challenge 32.

lawn fawn christmas birds copyright linda snailzpace.com

i switched back to my hot pressed watercolour paper and i think i’ll stick to it for painting images. i used tombow markers to colour these cute lawn fawn ‘winter sparrows,’ but i used three different blue twinkling H2Os to paint the sky.

this is also my second entry to the As You Like It Challenge and the Favourite Celebration (&why) theme. as i previously mentioned, celebrations aren’t the same since my son passed away but i’ve always loved making christmas cards, especially whimsical ones that make me smile and relax while i paint them.

Things With Wings At Penny Black And More

it’s time for a new theme at the penny black and more challenge and this month we’d like to see ‘things with wings’ – so many options.

penny black pixie copyright linda snailzpace.com-1

this sweet penny black ‘garland pixie’ was a generous gift from maureen for being on her Rudolph Days design team. i had so much fun painting it with tombow markers on hot pressed watercolour paper; it’s popped on foam tape and attached to some pink christmas paper.

remember your focal point must be hand stamped, any company, to be eligible for one of the fabulous prizes from this month’s sponsors: Penny Black, Stamp Addicts, Marianne Designs. the design team will select a future guest designer from those who do use a penny black image.

i’d like to submit this card to the Addicted to Stamps and More – #298 – Holiday challenge.

thanks for popping by.

Christmas Angel

i’m playing along with maureen’s rudolph days challenge; it’s my month off as a design team member but i’m still committed to creating christmas cards at least on a monthly basis.

penny black angel copyright linda snailzpace.com

i stamped the angel from the penny black banner of joy clear set and coloured with coloured pencils. the  background was sponged with distress inks and i added some gold corner die cuts.

i’m also playing along with these challenges:

for my DT card, i painted this adorable snowman from the penny black merry delight set with twinkling H2Os on hot pressed watercolour paper. i used the my favourite things flop circle die to create this fun fold card featuring the taylored expressions prezzie and a MFT sentiment on the inside.

playing along is easy – all you need to do is create one project to be eligible for a fabulous prize on offer so pop over to the blog to be inspired by the rest of the design team and to read the complete rules.

All That Glitters!

i’m playing along with the new Impression Obsession Challenge – All That Glitters! and now i have glitter everywhere!

impression obsession ornaments glitter copyright linda snailzpace.worpdress.com

i die cut three of the impression obsession ornaments (DIE476-Y) twice, once from gold mirri for the bows and again with designer paper and adhesive paper that i covered in crystal glitter ritz; i did the same to the strip of paper on the bottom using scor-pal tape. everything was attached to burgundy suede paper that i took a sticky roller to and i still couldn’t remove from all of it. oh well, it adds to the shimmer.

i’m also playing along with maureen’s rudolph days challenge since it’s my month off as a design team member.

Happy Rudolph Days March 2018

it’s time for the Rudolph Days Challenge at scrappymo’s blog and it’s always an anything goes theme for christmas cards.

stampendous snowman. copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

i started this card by painting the sky with twinkling H2Os, then painted the cute stampendous snowman and added a sentiment with a die i first noticed on a card by my penny black and more teamie, lynn.

all you need to do is create one card every month on the 25th and you have until the last day of each month to play along. pop over to the blog to be inspired by the rest of the design team, to read the rules and see the fabulous prize on offer.

Happy Rudolph Days January 2018

i’m so honoured that maureen at scrappymo’s blog invited me back as a design team member for another term at the Rudolph Days Challenge.

whipper snapper snowman copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

i know, you probably just put away all that holiday stuff and here i am asking you to bring it back out. but think about how good you’ll feel to have a stash of cards ready to be mailed out on time this year.

all you need to do is create one card every month on the 25th and you have until the last day of each month to play along. and hey, if you want to make more than one, go for it! as always, there’s a fabulous prize on offer so pop over to the blog to be inspired by the rest of the design team and to read the rules.

a special prize: maureen will continue this year with a special prize draw she started in december 2017; you can enter to win a prize in december if you played along every month. how’s that for another incentive?

on to my card – have i mentioned i love snowmen? i painted this cute whipper snapper image called scratch my nose with twinkling H2Os as usual and added a liquid pearl dot to the bird’s hat and kept it CAS.

thanks for popping by.

Last Christmas Treats

this will be my last post for this year. thank you all for visiting and for taking the time to leave such kind words that always brighten my day.

i die cut over 100 of these cute Impression Obsession Christmas Icons for my daughter’s not for profit volunteer christmas get together where participants played with paper crafts. apparently, these were a really big hit with some making several for stocking stuffers.

i’m submitting these to the New Impression Obsession Challenge – Anything Goes!

wishing you a peaceful holiday, a happy new year and as always, thanks for popping by.

Christmas Elves

i made these treats for the good people at my local medical supply store.

MFT elves copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

they took such good care of me during my two joint replacements this past year and although i’ve already given them thank you cards, i wanted to give them a little something. i coloured with laurentian coloured pencils and added glossy accents to the ornament, buttons and jingle bell.

i’m playing along with these challenges:

As You Like It Challenge Favourite Box Or Bag (and Why): my favourite is this little treat bag because it’s so quick to put together and it’s the perfect size for the ghirardelli peppermint bark squares.
ABC Christmas Challenge Y for Yummy/Z for Zentangle; these chocolates are very yummy
Kleuren Met Potloden Coloured Pencils December – Anything Goes
The Rubber Buggy – #8 Christmas and/or Winter

Penny Black And More CAS Reminder

just to remind you that there’s still plenty of time to take a break during this busy month to create a card for the penny black and more challenge and the december CAS theme.

penny black christmas cat. copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com1

this is the card i created for my daughter so while CAS usually means clean and simple, today it means cute and sweet. i painted a wash and this adorable penny black image (a gift for you) with twinkling H2Os and added glossy accents to the knitting needles.

remember, your focal point must be hand stamped and a future guest designer will be selected from those who use a PB image. as always, you’ll love the prizes to be won from: Penny Black, Tattered Lace, and Fantastic Ribbons.

visit the blog for some creative CAS inspiration by my teamies.

Decorating The Tree?

this is my last tag. i promise. if i weren’t sick all week i probably would’ve made more.

mama elephant tangled lights copyright linda.snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

i created a second tag for day 9 of the Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2017 Challenge.

Day 9 Designers Heather Meeson & Nichol Spohr made such cute tags with mama elephant’s yeti images; i was inspired by Nichol’s tag with the red accents so i used another of the cuties from the mama elephant ‘wooly winter’ set. i stamped the trees with iced spruce distress ink and painted with red twinkling H2Os.

thanks for popping by.

Merry Knitmas

it’s a new colour challenge for day 9 of the Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2017 Challenge.

mama elephant 1 knitting sheep copyright linda.snailzpace.wordpress.com

Day 9 Designers Heather Meeson & Nichol Spohr used mama elephant’s yeti images on their cute tags and Heather’s 3D snowballs are too cute; Nichol’s tag with the red accents inspired me. i stamped all of the images from the adorable mama elephant ‘wooly winter’ set, die cut with coordinating dies and painted with red twinkling H2Os. the background was created with iced spruce distress ink.

thanks for popping by.

A Bit Sketchy

i’m rushing now to finish off the last of my tags; this is for day 8 of the Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2017 Challenge which is a sketch challenge.

penny black holly kitty copyright linda.snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

Day 8 Designers Lisa Adametz & Jill Foster both used a cute penny black critter on their tags, which inspired me to also use a penny black cat. i loved Jill’s pink background so i painted mine with twinkling H2Os; i also liked how Lisa stencilled in some snowflakes so i used a snow embossing folder for mine and sanded it down after painting.

thanks for popping by.

Hedgie’s Ornament

another fun technique for day 12 of the Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2017 Challenge.

penny black hedgie inside.copyright linda.snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

Day 12 Designers Carly Tee Minner & Kelly Marie Alvarez shared some adorable interactive tags! i was inspired by Carly’s opening door – how fun.

i used one of the dies from the taylored expressions flap stacks – rectangle set for this tag. i stamped the penny black hedgie, coloured with colour pencils, stamped the snow around the border and added extra snow around the hedgie. the sentiment and holly were stamped and coloured on the inside, and i added glossy accents to the berries.

thanks for popping by.

Christmas Carol Book

i’ve been sick all week but i finally got around to making a tag for day 1 of the Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2017 Challenge and will have to double up on tags and posts to get them all done by the deadline.

carol book copyright linda.snailzpace.wordpress.com

Day 1 Designers were Jennifer McGuire & Jessica Frost-Ballas and they both inspired me; jennifer made a video to show how she created three different 3D tags. i couldn’t seem to capture the depth of the layers on camera but i’m pleased with how mine turned out and it was fun playing with a new technique.

thanks for popping by.

Watercolouring Is My Favourite

this is the tag i made for day 4 of the Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2017 Challenge and its watercolour theme.

darcies snowman.copyright linda.snailzpace.wordpress.com-1-1

if you know me, you know how much i love to watercolour images, so i was happy to see this technique for day 4 with designers Laurel Beard & Sandy Allnock. i was inspired by Laurel’s tags; i love the cute images she used for her focal point and the variety of colours, some of which i used.

i painted with twinkling H2Os as usual.

thanks for popping by.

Mauve Poinsettia

i really jumped around this year; here is the tag i made for day 11 of the Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2017 Challenge.

mauve poinsettia.snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

Day 11 Designers are Carolyn Peeler & Angie Backman; oh my goodness this was challenging! i struggled with the colour palette, but i was determined although a bit confused because the inspiration photo looked more like pink to me. Being sick all week hasn’t helped; it has affected my concentration.

Angie’s tag inspired me to use a shaped die cut so that’s what i started with – the same sizzix shape die i used for my silver and gold tag. i painted the poinsettias with gray, mint and mauve twinkling H20s and mounted it to a piece of taupe paper and i found a taupe pearl in my stash.

thanks for popping by.

Merry Mint Green

i created this tag for day 7 of the Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2017 Challenge.

Day 7 Tag Designers are Heather Campbell & Elena Roussakis. i was inspired by Elena’s tag: i love the gold sentiment at the bottom and the snowy background with the cute characters in the middle.

i used a pink debased background and a mint green glitter tree in the middle with the gold mirri die cut sentiment on the bottom.

thanks for popping by.

Merry And Oh So Bright

i skipped ahead to day 10 to create this tag for the Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2017 Challenge.

snow woman.copyright linda.snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

Day 10 tag designers Sharon Harnist & Svitlana Shayevich used such a pretty inspiration graphic for their tags. i was inspired by Svetlana’s tag with the bright blue background and i used the colours of the snowman on the bottom right of the graphic. i painted this sweet Darcie’s snow woman and the sky with twinkling H2Os and added stickles to her snowflake crown; is it bright enough?

thanks for popping by.

Keeping It Cozy

i created this tag for day 3 of the Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2017 Challenge.

penny black village copyright linda.snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

Day 3 Designers are Julie Ebersole & Brandi Kincaid and it was Brandi’s tag that inspired me; i love the browns she used with the pop of bright green and i feel like it’s a cozy scene.

i used coloured pencils on this older penny black wooden stamp image. i resisted adding glitter, which was a challenge unto itself.

thanks for popping by.

Silver And Gold

it’s Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2017 Challenge, a challenge i love playing along with; this is my fourth year.

pink poinsettia.copyright linda.snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

day 2 Tag Designers are Julia Stainton & Keeway Tsao and my inspiration for this tag was julia’s tag with the beautiful pink background. i painted the poinsettia with pink and gold twinkling H2Os, then coated it with shabby pink embossing enamel; it has a very fine gold glitter that doesn’t show. i used the debossed side and added a gold double ribbon bow.

i’m not necessarily creating my tags in order; i’m just going wherever my creativity takes me.

thanks for popping by.
