this is the first time i made a luminary; this is my hostess sample for the third challenge last night.
and this is what it looks like with a battery tea light inside. thanks for popping by.
tonight is a mini Virtual Stamp Night (VSN) event at splitcoaststampers; it’s a fun event where challenges are posted hour on the hour from 6 to 11 pm EST and you have 45 minutes to complete each challenge. don’t worry if you can’t complete them as they’re posted, you have until 7:00 PM Central Time on Monday to submit your creations. everyone is welcome to play along. if you’re new to VSN, and have questions, visit this thread. if you stop by this thread, you’ll find tips and guidelines. hope to see you there! the main VSN event is Friday, February 25 and Saturday, February 26.

this week’s penny black saturday challenge is a fun idea of DT member BETH – to choose 4 items from a buffet; so many choices! in the end, i chose 3 gems, ribbon, patterned paper and three flowers. the image is watercoloured and i added stickles to the flowers and covered the leaves with glossy accents.
i’m also entering this in the january challenge at penny black at allsorts – All you need is Love and the splitcoaststampers‘ fan club monthly theme – Love Is In The Air. thanks for popping by.
this is an homage to judi, splitcoaststampers’ Queen For The Day! since i also love penny black stamps, i was inspired by this cutie, but i watercoloured it and popped it on the base. thanks for popping by.
the buzz is that the Queen For The Day challenges will now become a part of the ‘regular’ splitcoast challenges! it’s a fun weekly challenge, started by Anne Ryan, that honours stampers who regularly participate in weekly splitcoaststampers’ challenges and leave encouraging comments (more than 3 or 4 words) on other stampers’ cards.
this week’s Queen is Pat, aka Foxy67, and i was inspired by this card in Pat’s gallery. the image is watercoloured and i added stickles wherever i could. thanks for popping by.
this is for the first inspiration challenge of this new year at splitcoaststampers; i’m just a bit slow to start. i was inspired by the blue check patterns in these napkins. i used a plaid stamp on the smaller flowers, the scor-pal for the mat, blue dew drops for the flower centres and blue pearls on the butterflies. thanks for popping by.
this is the second card i made yesterday; this one is for the Queen For The Day #40 challenge at splitcoaststampers. i found this adorable mouse and ornament card and had to case it with a hedgie. i watercoloured the image, sponged the edges and popped it on foam dots onto snowflake embossed paper; added a bow and it’s done. thanks for popping by.
this is my second christmas without my son, so i’m losing myself in card making and having a very untraditional christmas. this was one of two cards i made yesterday. the inspiration challenge at splitcoaststampers took us to an album cover site; i loved the typography section so i finally found a use for this text paper. thanks for popping by.

i made this card for flower soft challenge #16 – think snow! i watercoloured the snow couple, added flower soft snowflakes and snow on the ground and popped it onto a swiss dot embossed piece that i sponged with distress inks. the snowflake circle was popped on the circle sentiment and the ribbon was tied on. this is a small card that measures 3 1/2″ by 4 1/4″. thanks for popping by.
this month’s splitcoaststampers‘ fan club central theme challenge is a contest with a musical theme, so i watercoloured these singing mice and added stickles for snow. i think the one with the glasses is lip syncing because his book is upside down. it was more challenging to find an etsy item than to make this card, but i found this beautiful tea light candle holder. thanks for popping by.
i made this for two splitcoaststampers’ challenges: i cased this pretty card from Bridget, Queen For The Day, but i changed it to a christmas card because the Free For All Challenge is to make a quick christmas card “on the fly.” thanks for popping by.
sheri, aka KsNurse, is the queen for the day at splitcoststampers; i was inspired by her vintage ornament card, but went with purple because it’s a royal colour. all the gold outlines are peeloffs; the ornaments are watercoloured and popped on foam dots onto a green piece embossed with the snowflakes ef. thanks for popping by.
i cased a circle card from kathy, queen for the day at splitcoaststampers. since i had scraps left over from my last christmas card, the red/white/blue that was growing on me, i made another. i surprised myself – i haven’t been feeling very creative while i’m in the process of switching over to a mac. i had a long list of favourite blogs to visit for inspiration and haven’t yet been able to export them. thanks for popping by.
this is a case of a card in maxell’s gallery; she’s the queen for the day at splitcoaststampers. i changed the colours and the sentiment, which is the only stamping on this card. as much as i love to watercolour my images, i love cards that come together quickly. thanks for popping by.
my friend sue, aka irishgreeensue, is the queen for the day over at splitcoaststampers this week. i needed a sympathy card so i cased one of her very pretty cards; i used punches instead. thanks for popping by.
i created this card for the “let it snow” theme of this week’s penny black saturday challenge and the caardvark’s challenge to create a new holiday card using die cut(s). finally, this is my october submission for the monthly christmas card challenge at splitcoaststampers; i fell behind after surgery and i’m still trying to get caught up. i watercoloured the image, die cut it with nesties label 8 and attached it to the left “door.”
i used a larger labels 8 for the sentiment on the inside and added some punched snowflakes. thanks for popping by.
i created this card for the penny black saturday challenge, which is a fun sketch from design team member debby that i rotated. i’m enjoying the red and green for a change from my untraditional christmas colours. the image was watercoloured, distressed with pink along the edges and popped on foam tape. glossy accents cover the star and i added my usual stickles snowflakes. instead of manually making another one handed bow, i used the bow easy this time – 8 minutes. i’m also submitting this to the simon says stamp challenge – 3 Types of Embellishments (buttons, ribbon, stickles), 2 Patterned papers, 1 Image and to splitcoaststampers’ monthly fan club challenge. thanks for popping by.
i made this for two splitcoaststampers‘ challenges: sunday’s challenge is fun because you get to browse through the featured stamper’s gallery and case a card, but also change two or more items on it; this month’s fan club theme challenge is fabulous in faux. thanks for popping by.
this is for splitcoaststampers’ inspiration challenge and sketch challenge and the flutterby wednesday challenge, which is an open theme this week. the butterfly is a hologram peeloff that i painted with twinkling H2Os and the strip was embossed, sanded and attached. thanks for popping by.
i made this for two splitcoaststampers challenges:
Friday’s Queen For The Day Challenge, where stampers case a card from the Queen’s gallery and congratulate and honour a fellow stamper that gives each of us inspiration, supportive comments and a great sense of being a part of her life. i was inspired to use this striped ribbon i bought last summer, but it hasn’t worked with anything until today.
this is also for Friday’s Free 4 All challenge to “think snow…man!” i distressed the edges, sponged them with gold ink and did the same to the snowflakes – one is felt and one is punched. a gold dew drop was added to the centre. i added stickles to the trees and ground and added the ribbon. the sentiment is a peel off. thanks for popping by.
i made this 3 by 3 inch card for the august caardvarks challenge to create a new Holiday gift tag or mini card that incorporates stamping. this was also for two challenges at splitcoaststampers: the inspiration challenge and the monthly christmas card challenge. thanks for popping by.
this is my second submission for the Stamptacular Christmas in July challenge. i also completed another of the Dare to Get Dirty challenges at splitcoaststampers. the polar bear is watercoloured, stickles were added and it’s popped on foam dots onto a 3″ x 3″ card. thanks for popping by.
i combined 5 splitcoast dare to get dirty challenges plus this week’s flutterby wednesday challenge to create this circle card. the image is heat embossed, watercoloured and die cut with circle nestabilities. the base was embossed and then die cut also. thanks for popping by.
this is my second card for the splitcoaststampers Dare To Get Dirty Challenge week. the snowman is watercoloured, stickled, die cut and popped on foam tape. i embossed and sanded the blue strip and die cut and sanded the snowflake. two of the smaller die cut stars were added to the snowflake and the tag. thanks for looking.

this is my first time participating in the annual Dare to Get Dirty Challenge week at splitcoaststampers. i combined six challenges to make this card. the cherry blossom stamp is one i picked up for 75 cents at a garage sale and i haven’t inked it up until now. i heat embossed the image, watercoloured it and added stickles. the butterflies were punched twice, glittered and pearls were added to their bodies. i stamped the coin, cut it out and coated it with several layers of clear embossing powder. both the image and coin are popped on foam tape. thanks for popping by.
