Inspired By Colours

christmas card in maroon, green and ivory with sentiment as focus on front the colours in this print inspired me to create this very easy christmas card, which will start my stash for next year.

christmas cactus in bloomthis is a christmas cactus that i gave to my mother-in-law so many years ago that i can’t even remember; it came back to us after she passed away last spring. it didn’t bloom last christmas, which didn’t surprise me because my houseplants never seemed to last long, so i was shocked to see three buds this year.

anyway, thanks for popping by; i really appreciate it. wishing you all a happy and healthy new year.

Tagging My Friend, Anne

hedgehog carrying green christmas ornament

the splitcoaststampers’ free for all challenge on friday was to make a tag inspired by a cyber friend’s gallery…and call her out to join in the challenge. i tagged anne; i love her elegant CAS cards with her signature beautiful bows, but also her cards that show off her sense of humour, which always make me smile. the image is coloured with distress inks and of course i added stickles. thanks for popping by.

Inspiration Challenge Guest Designer Card

blue and pink floral bouquet with pink bow and lace trim on bottom of card
i’m excited to be a guest designer for the inspiration challenge at splitcoaststampers this week. i’ve either been away on weekends or too busy to play, but i love the challenge; stephanie is the hostess with the mostest and always finds interesting sites for us to visit. this week we’re browsing the liberty london site, where i found my inspiration in the colours of this fabric i watercoloured with distress inks, added stickles to the flower centres, some lace and ribbon and sponging and i was done. thanks for popping by and hope you get a chance to play along.

Halloween Turtle

an orange card with black fuzzy ribbon at the top, a turtle carrying a pumpkin on its back and a sentiment that reads it's halloweeni made this in honour of linda, aka morningsun47, who was splitcoaststampers’ featured stamper on september 18. i cased this cute card and, as per the rules, changed at least three things: the occasion, sentiment and colours, plus i added the fuzzy ribbon. the image is watercoloured with distress inks. thanks for popping by.

Thank You, Anne

blue card with small pink and yellow flower and thank you sentimenti made this for the keep it simple theme at the allsorts challenge and the splitcoaststampers’ free for all challenge to make a card of gratitude for someone who has done a kindness for you and deliver it to them. this card is going to my friend, anne; it’s not to thank her for my early birthday present of penny black stamps, but to say thanks for all the intangible gifts she gives – compassion, patience and humour. take a browse through anne’s gallery and in between all the elegant creations, her funny cards are there, always bringing a smile. thanks anne! no surprise, it’s watercoloured with distress inks. thanks for popping by.

Every Leaf Is A Flower

autumn card in gold and rusty colours with leaves and sentiment
i was inspired by the maple and acorn pattern to make this card for the 300th inspiration challenge, which is my favourite at splitcoaststampers. stef is the hostess with the mostest; she always visits participants and leaves comments, which makes everyone feel welcome to play. i don’t always have the time or mojo, so i was happy i got to have fun today, watercolouring with distress inks and sanding the base. thanks for popping by.

Vellum Flower

white vellum flower on pink and blue card with thinking of you sentiment
i loved the inspiration photo at the ribbon reel challenge, but this card didn’t come together until i loosely followed splitcoaststampers’ sketch challenge. i sponged pink distress ink onto the patterned paper and attached a strip of scalloped shimmer card stock to one side and the lace to the other. to make the flower, i embossed some vellum, punched two flowers from it and one from blue paper, then attached the single pearl and finally, all the smaller ones.  i’m also submitting this to the allsorts challenge of free and easy. thanks for popping by.

Sock Monkey Smiles

four sock monkeys in a square on square yellow card
i haven’t played along with the inspiration challenge at splitcoaststampers for a really long time, but this weekend i was inspired by one inspiration photo to make two cards. this was a quick and easy card that i started when the butterfly wasn’t working; it’s just printed paper matted and attached.  i’m also submitting this to the allsorts challenge which is ‘free and easy’ for all of july. thanks for popping by.

Snail’s Portrait

hedgehog painting a snail on clay pot outdoors in summer
choosing my favourite penny black stamp was challenging, but i decided to use this portraiture stamp for penny black at allorts‘ june challenge – you’re my favourite. i decided to use some of my other favourites on this card:  i watercoloured the image, including the sky, with distress inks; added white liquid pearls to snail’s dots; stickles on the sun; my favourite new punch on the pink layer; and pink and green. i’m also submitting this to the monthly fan club challenge at splitcoaststampers.

as i was painting this morning, the mail arrived with the penny black stamp i won last month and this cute card from brenda. thanks so much!

thanks for popping by.

Colour Challenge Card

circle framed flowers on berry coloured square card basei never seem to have the right colours to play along with splitcoastampers‘ colour challenge, but i used substitute colours that i think are close enough. the base is a very dark boysenberry, which might explain why the photo looks a bit blurry? sometimes red card stock is tricky.  anyway, the image is watercoloured, die cut and popped on foam tape; of course i had to add stickles to the flower centres and dots on the frame. thanks for popping by.

Skies Of Blue

round scallop card in blue and lavender with hydrangeasthis week’s penny black saturday challenge is fussy and fancy, so this what i fussed over all morning. i watercoloured the image, covered it in glossy accents and stamped the penny black text background over it. i sponged the edge of the die cut image, the round doily and die cut a second doily. i made tiny faux dew drops out of bits of paper and glossy accents, used the bow-easy and added a button to the bow. the inside is actually finished as well.

i’m also submitting this to the splitcoaststampers’ monthly fan club theme.  thanks for popping by.

Hedgie’s Egg Haul

i can hardly believe that it’s been a year since i started playing along with the penny black saturday challenge.  i’ve been pushed outside my comfort zone at times, but it has helped me grow as a stamper.  this week’s theme is easter extravaganza and i think this hedgie image fits perfectly; i just can’t decide if he’s found all those eggs or if he’s going to help to hide them. :)  i watercoloured the image, die cut it and popped it on foam dots; added a ribbon, button and sentiment tag and it was done.  i’m also submitting this to the stampin’ royalty challenge to watercolour and the monthly splitcoaststampers fan club challenge.   thanks for popping by.

Have A Special Day

purple and blue iris flower with pearls and yellow ribbon trimwhen i first noticed flourishes stamps at splitcoaststampers, they were not available in canada; now they are!  this is for the april flourishes bring back beautiful challenge – the beauty of spring colours.  i watercoloured the iris, pierced the corners of the die cut image and popped it on foam tape. i pierced the sentiment circle, added pearls and sponged the edge; the bow was made with the bow easy.  i’m also submitting this to the splitcoaststamper’s monthly fan club theme. thanks for popping by.

Spring Chicks

a pile of yellow chick with spring sentiment
this is as tiny as yesterday’s card; it measures 3.5″ tall. since lois, aka clownmom, is queen for the day at splitcoaststampers, i decided to case one of her scraplings. i watercoloured the chicks and sponged the sky and grass. thanks for popping by.

Egg Hunt Time!

turquoise easter basket with egg hunt time sentiment

i love making tiny cards, so when i saw that irene, aka DandI93, was today’s featured stamper at splitcoaststampers, i made this 3.5″ tall card in her honour. irene’s gallery is full of beautiful easel cards and tiny cards too.  the image, a RAK from sue, aka irishgreensue, is watercoloured and of course i had to add stickles. the pink is not really as bright as in the photo; it’s so dull today – where is the spring weather?!  thanks for popping by.

Hey, Ewe!

ewe covered in flower soft for texture with hey, ewe sentiment
this week’s penny black saturday challenge theme is recycling. the green plaid corners and border are leftover pieces from last week’s pbsc card; plus, wool is recycled from sheep.  :)  my friend, anne, knows how much i love penny black stamps, so she sent me this stamp at christmas – thanks, anne!  i watercoloured the ewe and covered it in flower soft. i stamped the head twice, popped it on top and added flower soft grass. the sentiment is hand printed with a marker.

i’m also submitting this to the Spotted Canary Spring Challenge and two Flower Soft challenges: the March monthly and the furry friends weekly. thanks for popping by.

A Royal Hello

pink, orange and yellow flowers in a pot with hello sentimenti was inspired by splitcoaststampers’ queen for the day jill’s bright and colourful card that just popped off the screen; i tried to duplicate the colours, but my first case ended up in the trash so i changed the colours.  the image is watercoloured and a small punched butterfly was added. thanks for popping by.

Where Are Those Eggs?

teddy with bunny ears and chick walking under teddy in search of eggs
this month’s forever friends challenge is to create a card without using designer papers, which is how i started making cards; but i’ve been using papers more and more, so it actually was a challenge! everything in the image panel is watercoloured and flower soft was added to teddy’s tail. i’m also submitting this to the flower soft monthly and easter challenges and the spotted canary spring challenge at splitcoaststampers. thanks for popping by.

Is It Spring Yet?

spring scene of girl watering tulips even though there is still snow on the ground, the longer days make me think that spring is almost here so i went with some bright colours i don’t normally use.  since the penny black saturday challenge is to use more than one fold, this was the perfect opportunity to try a stair step card.  the image is watercoloured and i added stickles wherever i could.  thanks for popping by.

i’m also submitting this card to the following challenges:

penny black at allsorts – welcome spring
ellephantastic challenges and roger too – cute with a butterfly
cute card thursday – signs of spring!

Pretty In Pink

birthday girl with three balloons and bow
pretty in pink is the theme this week at the penny black saturday challenge blog, so this betsy bluebell image immediately came to mind. i watercoloured the image, added stickles to the hearts and border and popped it on foam tape to the die cut label.  i’m also submitting this to the pink theme at the craft your passion challenge blog and the birthday theme of the ways to use it challenge at splitcoaststampers. thanks for popping by.

Krafty Case

black swirls on kraft paper with three pink flowersi cased a card of heather’s, queen for the day at splitcoaststamper.  since i didn’t have a similar stamp, i used a flourish, punched some flowers and made mine a bit smaller – this one measures 3.5 x 5 inches.  thanks for popping by.

For Queen Pam

purple striped and floral paper with you rule sentiment

i enjoy playing the queen for the day challenges at splitcoaststampers because i get to case cards and honour those who leave such encouraging comments.  i found a card in pam’s gallery that used some very pretty papers; instead of a bow i added this chipboard shape i found at michaels with the queen for the day theme. thanks for popping by.

Virtual Stamp Night Hostess Sample 6 mini

black flowers on kraft paper with hang in there sentiment

this is my hostess sample for the last VSN mini challenge last night – slimming down, which was to use the colour kraft, no more than 2 layers of card stock and it has to be encouraging. in the spirit of slimming down, this is a scrapling that was put together very quickly, although now i need time to recuperate and catch up with other challenges.  thanks for popping by.
