Smiling Kites

since i had my Impression Obsession  ‘signs of summer’ stamp set out, i used the smiling kites to create another card for the Impression Obsession challenge theme of Things That Fly (not just birds and butterflies!)

IO kites copyright linda snailzpace.com

i painted again with tombow markers on hot press watercolour paper and added nuvo shimmer pen to the kites on this small notecard. the shimmer pen seems to have lifted some colour so i added more colour after this photo was taken. the sentiment is from the IO ‘more basic greetings’ (CL549) clear stamp set.

Flying Frisbees

it is way too hot to be outdoors so i’m keeping cool while i create summer cards.

card with colourful frisbees

the current Impression Obsession challenge theme is Things That Fly (not just birds and butterflies!) i painted the frisbees and sentiment, both from the Pink Ink for Impression Obsession ‘signs of summer’ stamp set (CL873) with tombow markers on hot press watercolour paper.

More Summer Colours At Penny Black And More

we’re about half way though july so there’s still time to join this month’s Penny Black and More Challenge: Summer colours theme.

card with mouse in hot air balloon masked throwing flowers

i painted this cute penny black mouse (30-020 hugs!) with twinkling H2Os on hot press watercolour paper and used summery pink and yellow papers from lawn fawn.

remember your creation must have a hand stamped focal point, although it can be any company’s image to be eligible for a prize from the generous sponsors: Penny Black, Stamp Addicts, Craft Stash.

Hello Sunshine

the current impression obsession challenge is Sending Sunshine! and it’s so nice to have such sunny skies lately!

summery card in yellow and blue copyright linda snailzpace.com

i sponged three yellow distress inks onto cold press watercolour paper and spritzed it and used a leftover scrap of watercolour paper created with turquoise nuance powder to cut the impression obsession sandals (DIE190-C) and the IO hello sunshine (DIE691-C). the chair, part of the same die set as the sandals, was just cut from plain watercolour paper.

i added a beach ball that i painted free hand. i used the dot of the i to cover the beach ball valve and i added a drop of glossy accents to it.

Summer Colours At Penny Black And More

it’s the first sunday of a new month so we have a new theme at the Penny Black and More Challenge: show us your Summer Colours.

my summer colours are green grass and blue skies so i carried the sky in the image circle out to the front of the card. i painted this cute penny black mouse from the ‘critter fun’ set with twinkling H2Os and used the impression obsession die cut sentiment. the wonky stitches rectangle dies are new to me; i really liked them on my teamie’s cards; thanks ellie.

just a reminder that your focal point must be hand stamped, although you can use any company’s image to be eligible for one of the prizes from our generous sponsors: Penny Black, Stamp Addicts, Craft Stash.

Camping Critters

i made another card for the current LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 55 MOOD BOARD & COLOUR INSPIRATION:

look who’s peeking out! i cut around the door with a kraft knife and added a piece of paper from the lawn fawn spring fling paper pad behind the door opening.

i’ve been having fun with the lawn fawn happy trails stamp set so this time i created a 3 inch card, painted with twinkling H2Os and added these cute little critters from the LF smooth sailing stamp set. everything was fussy cut, a challenge in itself with my RA hands so after i finished the card, i ordered the coordinating die set. then i’ll be a happy camper. i know.

i sponged distress inks: peacock feathers for the sky and twisted citron for the grass, cut with LF stitched hills die set. i stamped the sentiment from the LF oh what fun stamp set and stamped two suns from the LF so much to say stamp set so i could layer it.

You Drive Me Happy

the current LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 55 MOOD BOARD & COLOUR INSPIRATION is full of summer items and bright colours.

summer camping card in bright colours

i painted the car and trailer from the Lawn Fawn happy trails stamp set with tombow markers bright set on hot press watercolour paper, cut with coordinating dies and added glossy accents to the windows. i stamped the line markings on grey cardstock and masked the two sentiments from the happy trails set to create this one. the sky was created with nuance powders and cold press watercolour paper and die cut clouds from the into the woods die set. to finish my card, i popped the vehicles on foam tape.

i’m also playing along with these challenges:

Are We There Yet?

i’m playing along with the LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 53 – SPECTACULAR SKIES.

campers at dusk; remember those long road trips?

i used 140 lb. cold press watercolour paper for lawn fawn’s stitched hillside border and sky; i swiped wild honey and worn lipstick distress inks on craft mat, spritzed with water and pressed the paper into it to create my background. lawn fawn’s happy trails images were stamped on 140 lb. hot press w/c paper and painted with my new daniel smith watercolour paints that i treated myself to; for years i’ve painted with twinkling H2Os so i need more play time to get used to these.

the hill was popped on foam tape, as were a couple of the trees and the vehicles. to finish it off, i cut a strip of paper that was sponged with black soot distress ink and i added the lines with a white gel pen.

i’m also playing along with the anything goes theme at Simon Says Wednesday.

My Happy Colours

the current impression obsession challenge is to use happy colours (whatever colours make you happy), which i thoroughly enjoyed; i even used a bit of orange.

impression obsession beach copyright linda snailzpace.com

i created a small easel card to fit on my desk featuring some new impression obsession products i purchased when i was lucky enough to win a $25.00 IO gift card just for playing along.

i used the sentiment and sun from the IO ‘signs of summer‘ (CL873) by Peggy Jo Ackley, and painted with tombow markers on hot pressed watercolour paper; i love the cool colour palette, but i tend to use brighter colours through the summer. i fussy cut the sun to pop it on foam tape and the IO beach chair and sandals (DIE190-C) were layered up five times to hold the card upright; the square panel measures 3 and 3/8 inches. to finish it off, i used the leftover bits from the chair to create my beach fence.

i’m also playing along with Simon Says Wednesday to use a Die and/or Punch.

Penny Black And More August – Summer Flowers

it’s the first sunday of the month and time for a new theme at the penny black and more challenge blog – this month we’d like to see some summer flowers.

penny black hedgie with flowers

i watercoloured this cute little hedgie from the penny black ‘tiny wishes’  clear stamp set with watercolour pencils, watercolour paints and twinkling H2Os; the marianne flowers were die cut and sponged with distress inks.

i hope you’ll come and play along – remember, you can use any company’s stamp for your focal point, just no digis please; a future guest designer will be selected from those who use a PB image and as always, there are some fabulous prizes to be won from: Penny BlackAll Occasion DiesCrafts U LoveMarianne Design.

i’m playing along with the Noor! Design UK Challenge #8: something old, something new.

COPYRIGHT LINDA @ SNAILZPACE.WORDPRESS.COM

i created another small card for my stash using an image from my new Joy! Crafts spring clear stamp set, new Joy! Crafts sun die and new elizabeth craft design hello die; the old items are the papers (watercolour, black glossy and matting) and my twinkling H2Os to watercolour with.

i’d also like to submit this to the summer theme at bunny zoe’s crafts july challenge.

Penny Black And More Mid July – Add A Sentiment

i’m sharing a card i made just to remind you that you still have plenty of time to play along with us at the  penny black and more challenge blog – all you need to do is add a sentiment to your stamped focal point.

penny black garden criter

i usually struggle with sentiments and where to put them so i stamp them inside. this time, i really went outside my comfort zone and decorated the die cut sentiment from the set ‘sweet wishes’ and added a stampendous grasshopper and a memory box butterfly.

i watercoloured this cute mouse from the penny black ‘garden critters’ clear stamp set with watercolour paints and twinkling H2Os.

A Little Hello

this is a small card i created for my stash using a couple of bird images from the Joy! Crafts spring clear stamp set.

joy crafts birds

as usual, i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and added some yellow stickles to the flower centre.the sketch is challenge #268 from Just Add Ink and i’m also submitting this to the Noor! Design UK Challenge #7 here comes summer and kathy’s 30 day colouring challenge – day 29 already.

thanks for popping by.

Beanie Birds

i’m playing along with kathy racoosin’s 30 day colouring challenge to spend at least 5 minutes a day doing what makes you happy – colouring! i only joined in a couple of times during the first challenge due to time constraints and my RA flare ups so i’m hoping to participate more this time around. i may not complete a card a day, though; i may just share some colouring of an image.

IMG_0242

this was a quick and easy card since the image is so small; i watercoloured with watercolour paints and had to photograph it with my iPad since my camera batteries needed recharging, again.

i’m also playing along with magenta’s june challenge and summertime theme.

thanks for popping by.

Ocean Breezes

i created this card for my dad for father’s day and for the impression obsession challenge theme of ocean breezes – beach theme or beachy colours; i didn’t exactly use those colours, but i imagined the view from the beach we used to have fun visiting.

impression obsession sailboats

i painted twinkling H2Os washes on watercolour paper, tore the edges of each strip, attached the layers and then cut with a circle die, which is popped with foam tape to another die cut circle trimmed with blue cardstock strips and twine.

i die cut the IO sailboats (DIE189-C) from red cardstock for the boat that i cut apart and attached to the watercolour paper die cut sails.

i’m also playing along with kathy racoosin’s 30 day color challenge at The Daily Marker; this is day two’s colouring.

Colours Of Summer

card with resting bunny in grass and clover with blue, green and burgundy papers and a sentiment of enjoy a relaxing day
this is my entry for the impression obsession challenge – the colours of summer; i went with blue skies, green grass, the colour of crabapple blossoms and the colour of our backyard bunnies that hide under a shrub. i coloured the D8380-CLING resting rabbit with distress inks and added flower soft to the tail and to create clover and added a sentiment from the CL255 riding pretty set. the sheer blue flower is from my stash and i punched the centre from the matching paper and sponged the edge with distress ink. i couldn’t take a photo of this card yesterday because those other dark gloomy colours of summer appeared, along with a thunderstorm. when i checked my updates last night, i read that impression obsession is having a blog hop with flower soft; honestly, my DH will verify that my card was done yesterday – too funny. anyway, gift certificates will be given out for Impression Obsession and Flower Soft so you might want to check that out.

i’m also submitting this card to a little bit crafty challenge where the theme is something sweet; i know, sweet treats and candy come to mind, but bunnies are the sweetest creatures. thanks for popping by.

Memories Of The Beach

card with beach scene and sea shells in burgundy on a beige mesh ribbon with water and sky in the background
before i get to my card, i want to thank those of you who left kind and comforting words on my last post of the card i made in memory of my son. pushing myself to create keeps me going and i appreciate your taking the time to offer your compassion and support.

the ranger ink seasonal colour palette challenge looked so challenging that i just had to play along. my fondest summer memories are going to the beach and cottage when i was much much younger. i coloured the shells with a brush and distress ink pads in aged mahogany and pumice stone, but stamped the starfish with aged mahogany and cut them all out; i popped them on foam tape on a piece of mesh ribbon. i used a paper towel for the water and sky by soaking up adirondack stonewashed and denim blue inks and i used walnut stain and antique linen DI to create the frame, which i brushed and used direct to paper technique. thanks for popping by.
