Strawberries – House Of Cards July

it’s the first of july, happy canada day, and time for a new theme at the house of cards challenge. we have an inspiration photo that is oh so pretty and we’re asking you to be inspired by either the colors in our inspiration, use a food image, or do both!

i was inspired by the yummy looking strawberries, so i watercoloured this flourishes image with twinkling H2Os, embossed a background and attached it – clean and simple. i hope you’ll come and play along; you have until the end of the month to join in. be sure to visit the blog for some beautiful creations by my team mates; and check back because different groups are showcased throughout the month.

thanks for popping by.

Guest Designer At Scrapbooker’s Paradise

i’m excited to be the guest designer this week at the playing in paradise challenge, which is to take your inspiration from this photo:

under the sea photo
card with an under the sea theme
i used the colours and theme to create this card for my husband for father’s day. the shells were stamped, coloured with distress inks, cut and popped on foam tape. the sea is painted with distress inks, which was covered on the bottom with embossing powder and enamel. finally, i added some cheesecloth, twine and a flourishes sentiment and tag. you’ll want to check out the inspiring DT creations at the scrapbooker’s paradise blog and i hope you can play along. thanks for popping by.

The Beauty Of Spring

card featuring flourishes trumpet vine with hummingbird
the flourishes bring back beautiful challenge this month is the beauty of spring or autumn, so i went with spring and used the out of the box technique on the floral image. everything is coloured with distress inks, as usual, and the hummingbird was shaped and popped on foam dots. thanks for popping by.

Flourishes Pinter-inspiration

card featuring flourishes potted flower image in purple and green with gems and bow
the flourishes release week challenge is a ‘pinter-inspiration’ – the colour palette is just so pretty; i never would have put them together otherwise so i’m glad i played along. as usual, i coloured the image with distress inks and sponged the tag and background paper, which is already embossed and makes matching colours so easy. thanks for popping by.

Take Time

floral card with sentiment in blue green and pink
this is a CAS card i made for this week’s inspiration challenge at splitcoaststampers and this album was my inspiration; i love the colours and patterns and thought it was about time i cut into some of my stash of papers. i used my favourite sentiment from flourishes, which you’ll see often.  thanks for popping by.

Flourishes 2.0.1.2. Challenge

card with blue and purple paper with white flourishes on it, sentiment and blue flower
this is another of those very quickly made cards for another flourishes noon time challenge: using 2.0.1.2, the challenge is to use only 2 colours, 0 bling, at least 1 embellishment and only 2 layers (not including the card base). i almost completed the third challenge, but i was working on a bookmark instead of a card – oops; and then i ran out of time. anyway, thanks for popping by.

The Beauty Of Winter

blue greeting card featuring red cardinal in tree branches and snowflakes
i created this card for the flourishes december bring back beautiful challenge and for my dad, who turns 87 next week. we don’t have any snow yet, so i enjoyed creating this wintery scene, but it’s so dull today that the extra lighting i used makes the glitter paper look silver instead of gold. anyway, thanks for popping by.

Round Like A Wreath

red circle easel christmas card featuring a red cardinal with glitter and white bow
i created this round easel card yesterday for the flourishes november christmas spirit challenge – round like a wreath; i just couldn’t take a good picture with the gloomy weather. today, i checked out the other flourishes challenges and found that i used the same image and papers as heather used on her beautiful challenge hostess card. i watercoloured with distress inks, added stickles to both of the white circles and the berries. thanks for popping by.

Flourishes Jingle Bells

christmas card with greenery bough and red bow
i’ve been so busy and, because of my RA, running low on energy, so it felt good to sit down and create this card today for two flourishes challenges; this month’s bring back beautiful theme is ‘the beauty of a technique.’  i coloured with distress inks, which isn’t new to me, but it was recently featured on splitcoaststampers and is my favourite technique. since the christmas spirit challenge is to create something ‘shiny like a piece of candy,’ i used: striped paper with a shiny gold stripe in it; gold mirri for the circle mat; metallic gold pearls on the embossed snowflakes; and covered the ornaments and bells with glossy accents. one more christmas card done. thanks for popping by.

Inspiration Challenge Guest Designer Card

blue and pink floral bouquet with pink bow and lace trim on bottom of card
i’m excited to be a guest designer for the inspiration challenge at splitcoaststampers this week. i’ve either been away on weekends or too busy to play, but i love the challenge; stephanie is the hostess with the mostest and always finds interesting sites for us to visit. this week we’re browsing the liberty london site, where i found my inspiration in the colours of this fabric i watercoloured with distress inks, added stickles to the flower centres, some lace and ribbon and sponging and i was done. thanks for popping by and hope you get a chance to play along.

Glittered Tulips

glittered yellow and orange tulips in bucket on clean and simple card
i haven’t been up to much while recovering from my tooth extraction, but i managed to participate in the the august flourishes bring back beautiful challenge to make a clean and simple (CAS) card. i watercoloured the image with distress inks, covered the flowers with stickles and the bucket with glossy accents – a very quick card. thanks for popping by.

Get Sketchy With Flourishes

there are some challenges during their release week, so i had time to create this for the flourishes sketch challenge, literally following this clean and simple layout. the image is watercoloured with distress inks and markers, die cut and attached to the DP layer and mat.  the sentiment is from the same set.  thanks for popping by.

Strawberry Special

circle easel card with watercoloured strawberry image and sentiment, 'you are so special to me.'
this month’s bring back beautiful challenge at flourishes is to use the spotlighting technique, which i’ve never done before – probably because i want to watercolour more than just a small portion of an image.  i popped the spotlighted image on foam tape for the bottom layer and stamped around the top circle; everything is watercoloured with distress inks and the red is actually christmas paper with cream dots on it. this is going to my dad; he loves strawberries, plus he’s an artist so he’ll appreciate the easel. i’m also submitting this to the paper sundaes easel card challenge.  thanks for popping by.

Have A Special Day

purple and blue iris flower with pearls and yellow ribbon trimwhen i first noticed flourishes stamps at splitcoaststampers, they were not available in canada; now they are!  this is for the april flourishes bring back beautiful challenge – the beauty of spring colours.  i watercoloured the iris, pierced the corners of the die cut image and popped it on foam tape. i pierced the sentiment circle, added pearls and sponged the edge; the bow was made with the bow easy.  i’m also submitting this to the splitcoaststamper’s monthly fan club theme. thanks for popping by.
