i’m happy to announce that House Of Cards challenge blog owner mynn has invited me back to the design team for another 6 month term. along with some other returning members, there are some new ones so you’ll have plenty of inspiration!

this month we have a very summery inspiration photo for you:

i sponged distress inks onto a pre-embossed sheet of paper, added the white dots around the scrolls, added more colour to the butterflies with coloured pencils, attached the MFT Die-namics Hello There and used permanent markers to colour some clear hologram dot stickers green.

i hope you’ll come and play along! different groups will have their creative cards showcased on the challenge blog every five days, so check back for a variety of styles by the rest of the design team.

House Of Cards October Challenge

i don’t know where september went! but since it’s october 1, it’s time for a new challenge theme at House Of Cards. this month we’d like you to add texture and/or use the colours in this inspiration photo:

i watercoloured this cute penny black scarecrow with twinkling H2Os and used some new ones that i just had to have – i rationalized that they’re fall colours and it’s my favourite time of year. for texture i added the memory box die cut pumpkins, also coloured with twinks and then shaped and popped on foam squares.

Twinkling Bokeh

it’s the first of the month and time for a new theme at the house of cards challenge – we’d like you to use the bokeh effect on your creations. if you haven’t already tried it, you can make interesting backgrounds imitating this photography technique.

i created my bokeh with twinkling H2Os and sponge daubers on 140 lb. cold press watercolour paper and simply attached the balloons and die cut sentiment.

mynn has provided a written tutorial on the blog today and movies, tips, and more from other DT gals later this month! i hope you’ll try this fun technique and play along! different DT creations are featured every monday so be sure and check them out for more inspiration.

Take Time

wow, it’s april 1st already so it’s time for a new theme at the house of cards challenge; this month we’d like you to add a butterfly and/or use the colours in this inspiration photo:

for my DT card, i used different colours and i added a die cut butterfly. the smaller butterflies were already there but they were an ivory colour so i coloured them with colour pencils to match mine. visit the blog to see what my talented teamies have created and then i hope you’ll play along!

Sweet Chicks

it’s time for a new challenge theme at the house of cards and this month we’d like to see some creations with enamel dots, a fun product i’ve not used before.

for my DT card, i water coloured one of the chick images from the penny black chick to chick clear set with twinkling H2Os and added turquoise and yellow dots; the banners were included in the paper pad – my mind’s eye ‘the sweetest thing.’

Love Is In The Air

it’s the first of the month and time for a new theme at the house of cards: it’s a Word Cue Challenge and the word for february is LOVE.

for my DT card, i created this valentine card for my husband. i used this adorable bear couple from the Cuddly Buddly Clear Stamp set – Love is in the Air CBS0017, water coloured with twinkling H2Os; i stamped and cut the heart sentiment from the Cuddly Buddly set – Little Poppets in Love CBS0016 four times to give it some dimension.

i used used Kim’s Digi Papers – Pretty Mix – Pink by Kim MacFarlane and finished it off with an impression obsession die heart border.

Exciting News

happy new year and welcome to some new followers; thank you for taking an interest in my creations.

i have some exciting news to share – i’ve been invited to join the house of cards challenge design team for a six month term; it’s a monthly challenge with different themes and a lot of inspiration by the talented team.

this month the challenge is to use glitter and/or the given colour combo and this is the beautiful inspiration photo for january:

i used three memory box dies to cut glitter paper – the corner wildflower die, the ribbon slide and the thanks sentiment; i cut the petals from watercolour paper, coloured them with twinkling H2Os and attached them to the card.
