Penny Black And More July – Dies And Punches

it’s the first sunday of july already and time for a new penny black and more challenge theme; this month, we’re challenging you to use those dies and punches. as always, you can use any company’s stamped image as your focal point, just no digis. there are some fabulous prizes on offer from some generous sponsors so i hope to see you join in. visit the blog to view some beautiful creations by my team mates and to find complete details.

penny black and more strawberry mice

i watercoloured this sweet image from the Penny Black homemade clear set with distress ink pads and twinkling H2Os. i used a couple of die cuts on this card: the Marianne Design button flower, cut with chipboard and white card stock; My Favorite Things Die-namics banners; nestabilities squares for the image and mat and i used an EK Success eyelet punch for the borders. i created the tablecloth with a stencil and a paintbrush.

i’d like to submit this card to these challenges:
addicted to stamps – #102 make your mark

thanks for popping by.

One Lucky Chick

you might remember that i recently purchased some from the heart digital birdbrain images and this little cutie was free with a purchase. since i need a birthday card for someone who loves all things irish, it’s perfect. this week’s twist is to not use designer paper/just cardstock. i tried. it’s funny that when i first started making cards about six years ago, almost all of my cards were clean and simple and designer paper intimidated me – so many patterns and colours; and now i’m challenged by CAS.

i {heart} card sketches w/ a tWiSt #no.73:

Sketch073-558x720

luckybirdbrain

i watercoloured the image with twinkling H2Os and literally followed the sketch. thanks for popping by.

Lemonade Mice

i’m playing along with the “More Than One Score” Scor-pal Challenge #5 and this month’s theme of bright and sunny. I searched for quick and easy cards since i was short on time and i found this cute card by Diane Zechman so i used my Scor-pal and cased the design; i tried to change the pointed edge with a die cut shape, but none would fit.

i watercoloured these Penny Black images with Twinkling H2Os, Derwent Inktense Pencils and Distress Ink pads; i cut the lemons out since i used watercolour paper and used a velcro closure on the flap; this was a fun card to make.

EDIT: i was lucky enough to be a top three and last month’s scor-pal challenge winner for this card and my prize arrived just after i posted this today – thanks so much scor-pal for the Scor-Buddy and roll of tape!

thanks for popping by.

In Loving Memory

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com and made in memory of my son

i made this card in memory of my son who passed away five years ago today. i don’t know where the time went, other than i’ve been lost in a world of papercrafting that has helped me to have something to focus on and feel somewhat productive. my husband used to make up adventurous stories about a snail when our son was young, so i sewed him a snail from blue and white striped flannel that was well loved. as i coloured this image with twinkling H2Os, i recalled the many hours my artist son would colour with coloured pencils, usually colouring his hand drawn comical characters – he had quite an imagination. and, even though he teased me, he was just as picky about colouring his images. thanks for popping by.

Birthday Bird

Sketch070-558x720

birdbrain.bday

i’m playing along with this week’s i {heart} card sketches w/ a tWiSt #no.70. the bird is coloured with distress ink pads and twinkling H2Os and both the image and hearts are popped on foam tape; i coated the candle with glossy accents. i reached a milestone birthday this week and i was kind of dreading it, but someone reminded me that it’s just a number – maybe i feel older than the number. lol. thanks for popping by.

Under The Feather

Sketch068-387x500 DSC01360 i just bought some of these cute birdbrain chick digi images and i had so much fun watercolouring this poor sick chick with my twinkling H2Os. i followed this week’s from the heart stamps challenge no. 68, (i rotated it) and used one of two sentiments that came with the image. i’d also like to submit this to addicted to stamps challenge 97 make your mark and paper crafting challenges – my favourites are watercolouring cute and whimsical images. thanks for popping by.

Egg-cited For Spring

kk bunny

even though more snow is predicted, i am trying to shift into spring so i thought an easter card with bright colours might help. i coloured everything with twinkling H2Os, added flower soft to the cuffs and tail and i’d like to submit this card to these challenges:
kraftin’ kimmie wonderful wednesday anything goes challenge
my favorite things palette colour challenge for march
stamp and create  ready for spring
as you like it – favourite colouring medium and why: watercolouring, usually with distress ink pads and/or twinkling H2Os, is the easiest medium for me because it requires less pressure on my wrist and hands, which doesn’t aggravate my RA. painting images is so relaxing that i sometimes lose track of time when i’m ‘in the zone.’

thanks for popping by.

Twinkling Hydrangea

DSC01239
the impression obsession challenge is ‘favourite technique’ and mine is watercolouring. i used twinkling H2Os to create a wash on some watercolour paper to die cut the petals with the IO hydrangea die (DIE044-Y); i painted the leaves and using the same twinks, i painted the edges of watercolour paper to create the mat and had fun splattering the leftovers on cardstock. finally, i added blue stickles to the petal centres.

i’m also submitting this card to these other challenges:
stamp and create – ready for spring
little red wagon – #226 yearning for spring!
virginia’s vew challenge #1 – watercolouring
loves rubberstamps – anything goes

thanks for popping by.

Penny Black And More – So Sweet

penny black mimi bunny slippers

it’s the first sunday of march so it’s time for a new theme at the penny black and more challenge; this month we’d like to see something ‘so sweet’ like a sweet image or sweet food. i coloured this penny black sweet dreams image (4245H) with twinkling H2Os, added stickles to the blanket and stamped the sentiment from penny black betsy bluebell (30-053). visit the blog for some very creative inspiration from my team mates and to take a peek at all the fabulous prizes and remember, you can use any company’s stamped image for your focal point, just no digis please. i hope you’ll come and play along! thanks for popping by.

Penny Black And More Mid February Card

penny black hedgies

i made another DT card for the penny black and more february challenge theme of ‘make it sparkle.’ with a record amount of snow here, i thought i’d use these sledding hedgies – i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and distress inks and added stickles on their hats, flowers soft for snow and some green gems. to play along for some fabulous prizes, remember you can use any company’s stamped image for your focal point (just no digis please); check out what my talented team mates have done and read all the rules at the challenge blog here.

i’d like to submit this card to your next stamp challenge; i rotated their sketch.

thanks for popping by.

Time Flies

before i get to my card for today, i want to thank laura love, loves rubberstamps store owner and design team member of crafty sentiments designs for featuring my ‘all bundled up’ card on the crafty sentiments designs inspirational blog today; it was my final card as january’s guest designer at loves rubberstamps challenge and i used a crafty sentiments digi – cold christmas.

today’s card features ‘senior-ita dolores’ from stamping bella by illustrator christine grove; i love her sense of humour and when i get my scooter, i think i might just have to decorate it. i watercoloured the image with twinkling H2Os using the inspiration colours from this week’s stamping bella challenge:

inspiration-2-feb-7

stampingbella

i’d also like to submit this to these challenges:
loves rubberstamps – anything goes #89
try it on tuesday – travel
simply create too – mother’s day or for a female
papertake weekly – anything goes
as you like it – showcase and explain your favourite style (my favourite style is cute and fun with few embellishments as i want the focus to be on the image, which is watercoloured 99% of the time).

thanks for popping by.

Penny Black And More Make It Sparkle

pennyblackpenguin

we’re into february already and that means a new challenge theme at penny black and more; this month we’d like to see some sparkle. for my DT card, i chose to watercolour this cute penny black penguin from the ‘cold nose warm heart’ clear set with twinkling H2Os and i painted the sky with distress ink pads. the glitter on the snowballs is stampendous flocking mixed with stampendous ultra fine glitter.

there are some fabulous prizes on offer from our generous sponsors, so come and play along! remember, you can use any company’s stamped image as your focal point (just no digis please) and if you’d like to be considered as a guest designer, use a penny black stamp. for all the rules and some more inspiration from my talented teamies, visit the challenge blog.

thanks for popping by.

A Tiny Christmas Greeting

pennyblackchirpy
when i saw the jingle belles prompt to make cards featuring inchies or twinchies, i realized just how challenging this was and it has taken me almost two weeks to come up with something and the deadline is only hours away. the penny black chick was die cut into an inchie, matted and framed with a twinchie and watercoloured with twinkling H2Os. i added stickles to the hat, embossed and sanded the border and lines and added a hand-tied bow; silly me, i thought it would be faster than my bow tool. thanks for popping by.

Bundled Up

craftysentiments.LRS

it’s tuesday, so it’s time for a new challenge at Loves Rubberstamps Challenge Blog; this week’s theme is to CASE yourself or a design team member and it’s being sponsored by Aurora Wings. i cased one of my clean and simple hedgie cards:

i’m also submitting this card to christmas at sweet stampin‘s snow theme and the jingle belles linkfest. thanks for popping by.

Waiting For Christmas

crafter'scompanionGDTcard.nov.2013
i won a guest designer spot for the crafter’s companion challenge blog for october to december, but there were a few hiccups with the blog; this is my november card for the christmas/winter theme. i watercoloured this makey bakey mouse with distress inks and twinkling H2Os, added red glass beads to the holly, flower soft on the coat and stickles around the edge of the image rectangle. the red star was die cut from glitter paper and the december 25 star sentiment was stamped from the makey bakey mouse festive fun & frolics set and cut out by hand. the papers are doodlebug’s home for the holidays. thanks for popping by.

Twinkling Christmas Wreath – Penny Black And More

pennyblackpoinsettia.2013
this is my DT card for this month’s penny black and more challenge, which is anything goes! i enjoy making christmas cards year round, but i’m making more lately because they’ll have to be mailed off in a month already. i watercoloured this image with twinkling H2Os and the tiniest of paintbrushes. i stamped the sentiment, created the corners by die cutting four times,  and then i matted everything. there are some fabulous prizes to be won and remember, you can use any company’s image for your focal point, just no digis. my team mates have made some gorgeous creations which you’ll find at the challenge blog. thanks for popping by.

Walking For A Cause

fivek
i’d never be able to walk a 5K with my RA, but my daughter just participated in her first walk-a-thon so i made this card for her. i coloured the stamping bella shoes with twinkling H2Os, added the 5K stickers from my stash and followed last week’s SB sketch theme. thanks for popping by.

Autumn Colours

impression.obsession.fall
we’re starting to see the leaves changing colours and they’re just so pretty, vivid and inspiring; perfect for the colours of fall impression obsession challenge theme. i stamped the I.O. quote, D5529, onto white cardstock and sponged it and the patterned paper with distress inks. all the leaves, DIE030-S and DIE095-D were die cut from leftover watercolour paper that was already coloured with twinkling H2Os for another fall card i made; i just sponged the edges.

i was lucky enough to be the random winner of the $25.00 gift certificate from impression obsession just by playing along with their challenge last month so i chose something for spring because i saw some very cute cards by the design team…

DSC00989

something for fall because i love the larger leaves die i already have and i’m impressed with how deeply they emboss, even the tiniest…
DSC00988

and something for winter because i love snowmen and this snowman on the ground has been on my wish list for some time.

Pink Calla Lilies

COPYRIGHT LINDA @ SNAIL'S SPACE AND DESCRIBED HERE SOLELY FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES; card with green background, debossed on the bottom portion with a focal point of pink calla lilies in a gold vase
i created this card for the september crafter’s companion challenge theme of embossing. i watercoloured the calla lilies from the Stamp-It-Australia Floral Fancies stamp set (available in the US) with twinkling H2Os; i used the same twinks to create some matching mats with watercolour paper. i embossed a portion of the green paper, sanded the debossed side and added the memory box die cut ribbon slide. i decided not to put a sentiment on the front so i can use it for any occasion. thanks for popping by.

Thanks

COPYRIGHT LINDA @ SNAIL'S SPACE AND DESCRIBED HERE SOLELY FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES; a card with fall colours and leaves in the background with one die cute maple leaf in the centre and black die cut letters on the bottom spelling thanks
welcome to a new follower! thank you for taking an interest in what i create.

i haven’t had much time lately to create or comment: DH has been on vacation and we’ve had day trips, out of town visits to family, i’ve had volunteer work, commissions, taking classes, and prepping a class to teach. there are never enough hours in the day and since fatigue is a big part of my RA, i can’t always accomplish as much as i’d like.

anyway, this is my DT card for papercraft cafe; i used the same impression obsession die cut stencil i made for a recent card, but i added the memory box die cut letters instead of stamping on this one and the colours are a bit different. thanks for popping by; i hope to find time soon to pop by all those bloggers who inspire me, make me smile, and take time to comment.

A Happy Twirl

COPYRIGHT LINDA @ SNAIL'S SPACE AND DESCRIBED HERE SOLELY FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES: a card with a twirling koala in a pink and green leotard with pink slippers, pink dots on white background, a strip of pink paper at the bottom and a green bow

i’m playing along with the ‘circles’ challenge theme at stamping bella this week; i used circle dies, the dots embossing folder and coloured with distress ink pads and twinkling H2Os.

this happy koala is one of  two stamps i bought when stamping bella introduced illustrator christine grove’s characters in june; i was lucky enough to recently win a $20.00 gift certificate, so i bought a third character that i still have to colour and some general use stamps. thanks for popping by.

Make Lemonade

the less is more challenge this week is to use a rubber stamp and watercolour (my favourite technique) so i used three different watercolour media to colour this penny black image: watercolour crayons, twinkling H2Os and distress ink pads. i cut out one lemon, added stickles to the edge and popped it on foam tape. thanks for popping by.

Penny Black And More September

Penny Black Sunflower
i don’t know where the time goes, but it’s the first sunday of the month and time for a new theme at the penny black and more challenge; this month we’d like to see fall colours or a sketch by the talented Brenda or both, so you have several options. i stamped this ‘sunny’ penny black cling stamp with twinkling H20s, added some splatters and used permanent markers to colour the peel off corners to match the distress ink i used to sponge the background paper.

there are some fabulous prizes to be won, along with a chance to be a guest designer so i hope you’ll play along. thanks for popping by.

Winter’s Butterfly

copyright linda @ snail's space and described here solely for people with disabilities; christmas card with bright red, green and blue papers with a snowman wearing a jacket, hat and scarf and a tiny green butterfly nearby
this was a fun christmas card to make; i coloured the image with letraset aquamarkers, painted the sky with twinkling H2Os, added flowersoft to her hat and coat trim and stickles to the snow drifts i created. i’m submitting this to a couple of challenges: i used the layout at the sweet sketch wednesday, played bingo with the jingle belles (snowman/woman, stamping, red or green) and this is my august rudolph day card.

thanks for popping by.
