thinking of you

i’m playing along with cardabilities for the first time. i just love this sketch, although i knew it would be a real challenge and it was; it took me way out of my comfort zone. i usually spend up to a couple of hours watercolouring images and then more time planning layouts that are pretty basic with minimal embellishments.

i used a jar lid and gesso to create the circles, which you can barely see and then i built the layers with some new dies. i sponged the flower edges, added stickles to the tiny green flower centres and added the sentiment. i really enjoyed the process and i’ll be sending this card to someone who will undergo surgery next week. thanks for popping by.

  1. It’s cheery and funky! I like how the green leaves really pop and catch attention. The details make your eye go around the whole thing, which is a great thing in art and design. :)

  2. You ROCKED the sketch! Out of comfort zone or not, it was fun, wasn’t it? I adore Karan’s sketch just for that reason~ Thanks for joining in at Cardabilities!

  3. WTGo! This may be a bit out of your comfort zone as you say, but it’s really pretty. Love the way you have the subtle shading of the gesso’d flowers on the print background and then the delicate yellow flowers layered on top. Liked the notebook border the way you’ve used it as well. A great card for someone to show you care. TFS & Hugs

  4. OMGoodness, Linda, this is precious. Love the flowers and accompaniments seem to be just perfect.
