Floral Thank You Card Set

you might remember that I made two thank you cards to add to my stash. then my daughter let me know that she needed some for her profs so I made her this set of four:

set of four floral thank you cards copyright linda snailzpace.com

she really likes the floral image from the waffle flower ‘A Little Note’ set so I used it again and again painted with twinkling H2Os on Arches hot press watercolour paper and die cut with the coordinating die.

I’m playing along with the Waffle Flower Challenge week 3 – watercoloured florals.

Thank You Notes

I never seem to have enough thank you cards but the Waffle Flower Challenges week 2 with the spring theme inspired me to create two cards to build my stash.

hand painted floral thank you cards; one pink and one blue using waffle flower stamps

I stamped the flowers from the ‘A Little Note’ set on Arches hot press watercolour paper, cut with the coordinating die and painted with twinkling H2Os. I stamped the sentiments from the same set and popped the florals with foam tape. such a dull day; I can’t wait for sunnier spring days!

Say It With Flowers

this is my mid month design team card for the ‘say it with flowers’ theme at the Penny Black And More Challenge that runs until September 2 so there’s still plenty of time to play along.

I painted this penny black floral image, unfolding, with twinkling H2Os on Arches hot press watercolour paper and spritzed all over with a gold shimmer spray before matting it with a thin frame and then onto matte gold card stock.

Remember, we are a stamping challenge so the focal point has to use a hand stamped image, any company’s, to be eligible for a prize from our sponsors Penny Black and Stamp Addicts. Also, the Design Team will be voting for their favourite entries using a Penny Black image. The winner will be announced in this months winners post and be invited to feature in our October challenge telling us a bit about themselves, why they love Penny Black stamps and showcasing a creation using one.

I’m submitting this to The Flower Challenge #47 Add Sparkle (shimmer spray).

Spring Flowers At Penny Black And More

it’s time for a new monthly theme at the Penny Black And More Challenge. i wish i could say spring is here but the next best thing is to make creations that focus on spring flowers.

tulip card copyright linda snailzpace.com

i painted the Penny Black tulip bouquet with twinkling H2Os on Arches hot press watercolour paper. the sentiment from the Penny Black smile today! clear stamp was a generous DT gift from Maureen at the Rudolph Days Challenge and was stamped with Archival plum ink; i added splatters.

you can use any company’s image, as long as it’s hand stamped, is the focal point and suits the theme to be eligible for a prize from our generous sponsors: Penny Black, Blade Rubber, Lost Coast.

Mid Month Reminder Penny Black and More

i’m sharing another design team card for the november Penny Black and More Challenge theme of flowers all over.

i coloured the penny black centrepiece cling stamp with coloured pencils and the inside with a sentiment from the smile today set.

remember to be eligible for a prize from our generous sponsors Penny Black and Bee Crafty, your focal point has to be hand stamped but can be from any company.

Floral Notecards

wow, we’re into june already! since it’s the first sunday of the month, we have a new theme at the Penny Black and More Challenge: Blooms, Butterflies and Bugs.

penny black floral notecards copyright linda snailzpace.com-1

i created a set of flat note cards using Penny Black 30-029 ‘wonderful’ and used Laurentian coloured pencils.

playing along is simple: your creation must have a hand stamped focal point, although it can be any company’s image, remember to be eligible for a prize from the generous sponsors: Penny Black, Swedish House Crafts and Stix 2.

i’m also playing along with the anything goes theme at Simon Says Wednesday.

Happy Thoughts

i either haven’t been well or haven’t had much time lately to create so i made a quick and easy note card.

happy thoughts copyright linda snailzpace.com

i’m playing along with the Impression Obsession challenge theme of flowers for friends and i’ve used these impression obsession stamps:  sentiment A8169 and riding pretty CL255, coloured with coloured pencils and some pink glitter.

Floral Happy Birthday

when i’m short on time or energy i like to make QAE (quick and easy) cards, preferably more than one at a time.

memory box floral blue copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com

to create this card i used the poppystamps freida wreath die, memory box floral delights die and the sentiment from the memory box birthday bunnies stamp set. everything was coloured with distress inks using my new creative expressions mini smoothies and i added some nuvo white crystal drops to the flower centres.

i’m playing along with these challenges:

Poppystamps Challenge – #43 Framed
Memory Box Challenge #36– Floral Challenge
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge – Flower Power
4 Crafty Chicks #400 Less Is More (CAS)

Simply Thanks

i need more thank you cards so i thought this might be one to easily mass produce; it would be, it’s just a bit time-consuming.

memory box floral copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

i die cut everything from 140 lb. cold press watercolour paper and sponged the memory box thanks die and lavish branch leaves with green distress inks, the flowers with pink and yellow distress inks and added pink stickles to the centres.  i die cut the poppystamps honeycomb curve in the centre of the panel but decided i wanted a border instead so i cut some away and attached it to some w/c paper also sponged with distress inks.

Pink Hydrangeas

welcome to some new followers! thank you for joining me on my creative journey!

i’m playing along with the impression obsession challenge theme of pink and green – one of my favourite colour combinations.

IO hydrangea copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

after the hydrangea (IO DIE044-Y) was die cut with 140 lb. cold pressed watercolour paper, i painted the leaves with twinkling H2Os, used the small end of a creative expressions mini smoothie (reviewed here) to colour the petals with distress ink and added pink stickles to the centres. i stamped the sentiment (IO CL465) and splattered the same pink twink onto watercolour paper and attached it to a green base.

IO hydrangea 2 copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

for the second card i sponged the edges of the petals with distress ink and added stickles to the centres as well.

i’m also playing along with these challenges:

Simon Says Wednesday – Texture
As You Like It Challenge- Favourite Colouring Medium (&why): watercolour painting with twinkling H2Os on hot pressed w/c paper is my favourite; it’s relaxing and i love making my own colours.

Flower Power At Penny Black And More

does time fly for you? it’s hard to believe we’re into november already but that means we have a new theme for you at the penny black and more challenge.

penny black gossamer.copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

this month we’d like to see ‘flower power’ so i’ve painted the Penny Black Gossamer 3865K stamp and background of the image with twinkling H2Os and added nuvo crystal drops to the centre.

it’s easy to play along; just hand stamp your focal point with any company’s stamp. a future guest designer will be selected from those who use a PB image and as always, you’ll love the prizes from: Penny Black, Crafts U Love and Marianne Designs.

visit the blog for some floral inspiration by the rest of the team.

finally, since i’m not using a critter this month, i can play along with The Flower Challenge; this month’s theme is CAS.

thanks for popping by.

EDITED: Diane asked about the background paper so i’m adding a link; it’s Studio Light #42 that I purchased at Buddly Crafts.

CAS Flower

i’m playing along with inspired by all the little things #66 featuring Anita in France; such a pretty inspiration photo:

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com. CAS flower

i love how anita framed her flower on her lovely CAS card so i framed my flower, painted with twinkling H2Os, with some squares die cut from a leftover piece of watercolour paper that i stamped with a stencil.

Wild Rose

i ordered this beautiful Magenta Wild Rose stamp when it was released this spring but it’s been waiting for me to watercolour; being the caregiver of a family member and my own health issues has meant i create when i can and i really appreciate when i get to do so.

i enjoyed losing myself in watercolouring with twinkling H2Os and matted the image since i didn’t feel like it needed anything else; clean and simple.

i’d like to enter this card into these challenges:

Just Peachy

i’m playing along with the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge 274 and, as usual, mine is a literal interpretation.

274

MFT flower copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.

i did change one thing though – instead of my usual watercoloured image, i used an MFT blueprint flower die as the focal point. i’ve been practicing making crinoline flowers, thanks to the very talented Tammy Tutterow and her step-by-step tutorial.

the square and this flower are coloured with pink and yellow distress inks that mixed together to create a nice orange, which is my least favourite colour, but this one’s more peachy so i like it. i added flower soft to the die cut centre; i used the Die-Namics Dainty Lace Border Die and decided to not discard the remaining piece and use it to offset the lace. to finish it off, i attached the flower to a MFT stitched circle and added the sentiment.

Spring Has Arrived

the weather’s not quite spring-like yet, but i know it will be soon! and now that it’s the first of a new month, it’s time for a new theme at the house of cards challenge; we’d like to see your interpretation of this beautiful photo:

Use Script and/or Colors

StillHues_2

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.HOCApril2016

i was inspired by the pink and green colour combo, one of my favourites, to use this wild rose studio teddy; isn’t he cute? i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and added yellow stickles to the flower centres. to finish it off, i added a hello sentiment using an elizabeth craft die. i hope you’ll come and play along!

i’d like to submit this card to the Take It Make It Challenge Spring Flowers theme at Craft Stamper and the Simon Says: Anything Goes.

Warm Colours

i’m playing along with the My Favorite Things Color Challenge 38; the cool colours are my favourite to use, but i thought this was such a pretty palette!

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_38

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.MFTcolour38

i watercoloured this sweet image with twinkling H2Os, mixing some of the colours to match as closely as possible to the challenge colours, and used the same twinks to create the mat; another CAS card for my stash.

i’m also playing along with kathy’s 30 day colouring challenge; this was coloured in stages over several days.

thanks for popping by.

Bloom And Be Happy

i had so much fun painting stripes on my card for last week’s My Favorite Things sketch challenge that i used the same technique on this week’s submission for both their sketch challenge 263 and colour challenge.263

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_37

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.jan17.2016

i mixed my own colours from twinkling H2Os to paint the stripes; unlike other watercolour paints, mixing colours with twinkling H2Os is a challenge because the shimmery mica added might interfere with the result you’re trying to create – but i love mixing colours anyway. after embossing the background, i sanded to reveal more white and painted the mat border.

the MFT die-namics blueprints 12 set was used for all the die cuts which were painted with twinkling H2O washes and i used a sentiment from the sunflower sweetheart stamp set.

i’m also submitting this to the simon says stamp ombre challenge.

thanks for popping by.

More Magnolias

can you tell i love magnolias? for today’s card i used a different magnolia image from altenew’s magnolias for her clear stamp set.

altenew.magnolia

i masked the first flower and deliberately stamped them close to the deckle edge of the watercolour paper and watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and winsor & newton watercolour paints; this is my second creation for the pretty pink posh watercoloring blog hop where you’ll find plenty of inspiration and prizes.

watercolor.bloghop

i’m also playing along with kathy racoosin’s 30 day colouring challenge, day 6 for me. what a lofty goal i set to participate every day since i watercolour some images over several days and then take forever to create a card for the image. you’d think that after 19 years of severe RA i’d accept my limitations. maybe one day.

Watercoloured Magnolia

today i’d like to share a card i created as a result of a happy accident that features some of the magnolia images and a sentiment from altenew’s magnolias for her clear stamp set.

magnolia on kraft

edited: i discovered i could watercolour with twinkling H2Os on kraft, lightly sponged around the edges and through a stencil; the sentiment is die cut and popped on foam tape on ribbon. i’m playing along with day one of the pretty pink posh watercoloring blog hop where you’ll find plenty of inspiration, prizes and some discount offers that end tomorrow.

watercolor.bloghop

i’m also playing along with kathy racoosin’s 30 day colouring challenge, day 5; happily, today, i actually completed a card, which is always the most difficult because i’m happiest when i’m just watercolouring.

Rose Garden

I created this card with one of the images in a clear stamp set from the Cuddly Buddly Crafts Spring Collection called Rose Garden that I watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and Winsor & Newton watercolour paints.

Rose Garden

Here are the links to all the supplies I used on this card. I love the stamping linen paper; i sponged around the edges with green distress inks and then lightly sanded to reveal the texture.

Spring Flowers

spring seems to be taking so long to arrive this year. in the meantime, i can create with spring flowers; this is another card i made for our march penny black and more challenge theme of blossoms and bows.

i used another image from the penny black clear stamp set chick to chick; they’re adorable and perfect for spring and easter.

i water coloured with twinkling H2Os and winsor & newton watercolour paints.

remember, you can use any company’s stamp for your focal point, just no digis please; a future guest designer will be selected from those who use a PB image and as always, there are some fabulous prizes to be won so i hope you’ll come and play along. visit the blog for some fabulous creations by my teamies.

A Cute Couple

i designed this card for Cuddly Buddly using an image in the new Love Is In The Air clear stamp set from the spring release; aren’t they adorable?

Cuddly Buddly Love is in The Air

i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and Sennelier watercolour paints, added tiny pink gems to the frame and flower and used the following, available online at the Cuddly Buddly shop:

-circle frame and flower dies: Marianne Design Craftables Dies – Circle & Flower Stitch CR1248 by Marianne Design

Cuddly Buddly Spring Collection

i designed this card for Cuddly Buddly using a set from the new release of spring clear stamps that has something for everyone, from cute to floral.

i initially stamped the Rose Collage in green chalk ink and then heat embossed with white embossing powder four times to layer it, water coloured with twinkling H2Os and used the same twinks to create my background and die the ribbon. we used to have hybrid tea roses this colour before i had to give up gardening due to my RA, so i love colouring florals as much as i love colouring cute images.

Peony Collage

i designed this card for Cuddly Buddly using the one of the new Clear Stamp Sets – Peony Collage CBS0015. i love the look of collage cards but i struggle with the design, so i love that i just have to stamp and colour – i water coloured with twinkling H2Os and the butterflies were stamped twice, cut and popped.

cuddly buddly peony

i created the tag using the smaller peony image and sentiment from the same set.

Simple Thank You

i needed another thank you card and i was inspired by the sketch at the stick it down challenge blog to create this one. i got brave and stamped the flourishes sentiment directly on the paper for a change; there’s a coordinating thank you sentiment on the inside. i applied a bit of gesso to the marianne designs flower and leaves and i was done in record time. i might just have to make a set of these.

thinking of you

i’m playing along with cardabilities for the first time. i just love this sketch, although i knew it would be a real challenge and it was; it took me way out of my comfort zone. i usually spend up to a couple of hours watercolouring images and then more time planning layouts that are pretty basic with minimal embellishments.

DSC01393

i used a jar lid and gesso to create the circles, which you can barely see and then i built the layers with some new dies. i sponged the flower edges, added stickles to the tiny green flower centres and added the sentiment. i really enjoyed the process and i’ll be sending this card to someone who will undergo surgery next week. thanks for popping by.

Penny Black Botanical Notes

i created a z-fold card with my scor-pal for my mid month DT creation; this month’s penny black and more challenge theme is anything goes.

copyright-linda-snailzpace-wordpress-com-penny-black-botanical-notes-1
i love this penny black ‘botanical notes’ cling stamp because of the collage image that i always seem to have trouble creating. i watercoloured with distress ink pads, then stamped the flower twice more to cut and layer it. the thank you was die cut from my new penny black creative die set and a marianne design leaf flourish die. be sure to check out the beautiful creations from my team mates and the fabulous prizes on offer at the penny black and more challenge blog and remember, you can use any company’s stamped image as your focal point, just no digis.

i’d like to submit this card to these challenges:

Scor-pal – more than one fold with a stamped image

A Little Bit Crafty – Flower Power
Country View Craft’s Challenge – Nature’s glories

Stencilled Flowers

magenta stencil
oh my goodness, it felt so good to have some creating time. i sponged distress inks through the magenta stencil, splattered and lightly sponged around the image panel and card panel. the DP had red leaves printed across the bottom so i sponged through a different image from the same stencil to create the bottom border.  i’m so used to watercolouring images that i was surprised by how much faster this was. i’m submitting this card to magenta’s may challenge theme of anything goes! and also to A Little Bit Crafty – Flower Power.

Penny Black And More Mid April

penny black chicadee blossoms

this is my mid month card for the penny black and more challenge for this month’s blossoms and blooms theme. i coloured the penny black image, Chic-a-dee Blossoms 202K, with derwent inktense pencils and added stickles to the flower centres. just a reminder that you can use any companies stamped image for your focal point, just no digis, to play along with us for some fabulous prizes;  i hope you’ll join the fun. thanks for popping by.

From The Heart

penny black rose

welcome to a new follower; thank you so much for taking an interest in what i create.

i discovered a new unique challenge, poppy sketches, that is a sketch and colour challenge; i was curious to see how the red would work with teal and gray and i like how it turned out. i stamped the penny black image on a gesso covered piece of the dark gray paper and coloured with derwent inktense pencils which, as their name implies, are intense. if you haven’t tried them, they’re used the same as watercolour pencils, but they’re permanent ink so colours won’t get muddy. i tore the dark and light gray mats, stamped the flourishes sentiment and cut the heart from a whimsy paper pattern to make this note card. thanks for popping by.

Penny Black And More – Blossoms And Blooms

penny black stickeroo
it’s the first sunday of the month and time for a new theme at the penny black and more challenge and we’d like to see blossoms and blooms. this is my DT card and it is one of the fastest cards i’ve ever made; i used a floral sticker from the penny black stickeroos collage flowers #10-147 sheet, stamped the penny black letter background 1999L in black ink on the pink paper, distressed the edges and added a strip of floral paper on the bottom.

remember, you can use any company’s image for your focal point; just no digis, so come and join us! for inspiration from my very creative teammates, and to check out the fabulous prizes, visit the blog here. thanks for popping by.

Twinkling Hydrangea

DSC01239
the impression obsession challenge is ‘favourite technique’ and mine is watercolouring. i used twinkling H2Os to create a wash on some watercolour paper to die cut the petals with the IO hydrangea die (DIE044-Y); i painted the leaves and using the same twinks, i painted the edges of watercolour paper to create the mat and had fun splattering the leftovers on cardstock. finally, i added blue stickles to the petal centres.
