it’s time for the february rudolph days challenge, hosted by maureen (scrappymo), where we create holiday cards every month instead of waiting until the last minute mail date.
i painted this cute bear from a new penny black set with twinkling H2Os on hot pressed watercolour paper and added glitter to the snow on the top of the letters. i sponged the tree and used permanent markers to colour the clear gems, stamped the dots in white ink on red cardstock, cut it into a circle and attached it to a doily die cut circle. to finish off the card i added pop up prezzies using designer paper, card stock and my scor-pal. (see end of post).
as always it’s an anything goes theme and the challenge ends the last day of the month.
i’d like to submit this card to the Scor-Pal More than One Score Challenge #56 February ANYTHING GOES.
thanks for popping by.
card stock pop up mechanism:
there are pop up dies to avoid measuring and cutting into paper but the cut layer needs to attach to the inside of a card to somewhat cover the cut areas. i wanted an easier method and these mechanisms that have been around for a while can be used directly on the inside of a card.
1/2″ x 2 1/2″ card stock, scored every half inch with tape on the end section to attach to the first section for a basic square that would extend a pop up 1/2″ away from the card fold.
for pop ups that would extend further out, like 3/4″, adjust measurements: 1/2″ x 3 1/4″ scored at 3/4″, 1 1/4″, 2″, 2 1/2″.
the difference between the 1/2″ and 3/4″ extensions; attached with tape to the back and bottom sections.
for my card sample, i wanted a row of prezzies so instead of creating three mechanisms, i created one: 3 3/4″ x 2 1/2″, scored 4 times at 1/2″.
the one piece pop up mechanism:
