Peace For Rudolph Days March 2021

I’m sharing my DT creations for the Rudolph Days Challenge, hosted by Maureen at her blog.

Christmas cards featuring peace die cut sentiment with embossed holly background copyright Linda snailzpace.com

I used this beautiful Penny Black peace die, a gift from Maureen for being a DT member, to cut green cardstock and sponged it with distress inks: shabby shutters, pine needles and chipped sapphire. I added red gloss gems, no longer available but they measure 3 mm. to finish the card, I used the taylored expressions holly embossing folder and lightly brayered with brushed corduroy distress ink.

like so many dies, I thought this one was versatile so I die cut with matte gold foil paper, coloured the berries with the only two spectrum noir markers I have and added the smallest Marianne design rhinestones that I coloured with permanent markers. the card stock is actually dark teal and I added a matte gold border to finish it off.

the rules are so simple and there’s a chance to win a generous prize from maureen so why not get a head start on holiday cards; or keep adding to your pile of cards so there’ll be no last minute rush.

I’m playing along with the Penny Black Saturday Challenge for March and the Anything Goes option.

12 Tags Of Christmas 2020 Day 6

my tag for day 6 of Ellen Hutson’s Twelve Tags of Christmas 2020 Challenge.

December 6 – Home for the Holidays with Michele Ferguson. Michelle created a cozy cabin scene and I was ready to use a cabin but the current situation influenced my thoughts – people may not be home for the holidays and may have to spend it wherever they are. This little mouse is cozy in a walnut shell so that’s where my creativity took me.  I painted with twinkling H2Os on Arches hot press watercolour paper and matted with Ellen Hutson essential circles and the hanger from the EH shaker globe die set.

One Stencil, Two Cards For Rudolph Days

it’s time for me to share my design team creation for this month’s Rudolph Days Challenge, hosted By Maureen, where you have until the end of the month to play along for a chance for a lovely prize; the detailed list of all the rules are posted on maureen’s blog.

I used an everyday penny black stencil, petite blossom, that I thought would pass for holiday greenery; I stencilled hickory smoke distress ink onto white card stock and used a strip of red glitter paper to accent the die cut sentiment. for the second card I spritzed the stencil and pressed watercolour paper onto it to get the opposite look.

Update: Creative Expressions sentiment die and Wendy Vecchi – Make Art – Stay-tion – 7 Inch for stencil use.

Say It With Flowers

this is my mid month design team card for the ‘say it with flowers’ theme at the Penny Black And More Challenge that runs until September 2 so there’s still plenty of time to play along.

I painted this penny black floral image, unfolding, with twinkling H2Os on Arches hot press watercolour paper and spritzed all over with a gold shimmer spray before matting it with a thin frame and then onto matte gold card stock.

Remember, we are a stamping challenge so the focal point has to use a hand stamped image, any company’s, to be eligible for a prize from our sponsors Penny Black and Stamp Addicts. Also, the Design Team will be voting for their favourite entries using a Penny Black image. The winner will be announced in this months winners post and be invited to feature in our October challenge telling us a bit about themselves, why they love Penny Black stamps and showcasing a creation using one.

I’m submitting this to The Flower Challenge #47 Add Sparkle (shimmer spray).

Say It With Flowers At Penny Black And More

It’s the first Sunday of a new month so there’s a new theme at the monthly Penny Black And More Challenge and for August it’s ‘say it with flowers.’

This month we are doing things slightly differently, the Design Team will be voting for their favourite entries using a Penny Black image. The winner will be announced in this months winners post and be invited to feature in our October challenge telling us a bit about themselves, why they love Penny Black stamps and showcasing a creation using one.

In The Garden at Penny Black And More

just a reminder that there is still plenty of time to play along with the July ‘in the garden’ theme at the Penny Black And More Challenge.

you can use stamps from any company, no digis, but your focal point needs to be hand stamped and reflect the current theme to be eligible for a prize from our generous sponsors – Penny Black and Blade Rubber.

Favourite Stamps at Penny Black and More

it’s time for a new theme at the monthly Penny Black And More Challenge and for June we’d like to see your favourite stamps.

it’s very difficult to choose my favourite since I’ve been collecting penny black stamps since 2008 but overall margaret sherry’s critters, especially the hedgies and mice, are the ones I love and use the most. this sweet image good news! always makes me smile. I painted everything with twinkling H2Os on Arches hot press watercolour paper, die cut the image panel and popped it on foam tape. I don’t have a honeycomb stencil so I inked the chicken wire stencil, spritzed it and pressed cold press watercolour paper onto it.

playing along is easy; you can use any company, no digis, but your focal point needs to be hand stamped and reflect the theme.

Rudolph Days Challenge May 2020

it’s time for the May Rudolph Days Challenge, hosted by Maureen, where you are encouraged to create holiday cards/projects from the 25th to the last day of each month until November.

I used a new Penny Black image for my design team card, merry making, that i painted with twinkling H2Os on Arches hot press watercolour paper;  i also painted the sky with my twinks. my purple background was created by sponging seedless preserves and chipped sapphire distress inks on Bristol smooth paper and then i sponged white gouache through a Taylored Expressions snowfall stencil.

Blooming Pink

there are a number of challenges using pink for breast cancer awareness this month. i’ve mentioned before that i love pink but i’d like to raise awareness of the think before you pink campaign that “calls for more transparency and accountability by companies that take part in breast cancer fundraising, and encourages consumers to ask critical questions about pink ribbon promotions.” as one who has lived the experience i ask more questions and check more labels; i hope you do too.

on to my card.

Have A Mice Day

since it’s the first sunday of a new month, we have a new theme for you at the Penny Black And More Challenge – Pretty in Pink – Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Penny Black mice copyright linda snailzpace.com-1

having lived through cancer, my feelings are strong; i like pink but i loathe corporations using pink ribbons for a feel good promotional tool without actually contributing to the prevention and eradication of the disease. sure, mammograms can detect the disease but if more than 5% of all the millions of dollars raised went into researching prevention, maybe less women and men would be diagnosed in the first place.

on to my card – i painted this penny black image, especially micey, with twinkling H2Os on hot press watercolour paper; i thought the lawn fawn quilted background die paired nicely with the embroidery. remember the focal point has to be hand stamped to play along for a chance to win one of the fabulous prizes from our generous sponsors: Penny Black, Lost Coast Designs and Visible Image Stay Strong stamp.

Small Christmas Cards For Rudolph Days Challenge

it’s my turn to create a project for the August Rudolph Days Challenge, hosted by Maureen.

i was going to post each little card individually, but i think they show up well enough in the group photo.

i love using small images on tags but this time i made a set of six 3 inch cards and a box following this tutorial. these cute little images are from the Clearly Besotted ‘shake it up’ clear stamp set that i painted with twinkling H2Os on hot pressed watercolour paper and fussy cut. the pretty papers are from the Penny Black Christmas 6 x 6 Paper Pad Festive and Frosty and the sentiment was heat embossed with white embossing powder. i used a white gel pen for the snow and added glitter to each snow mound. the dots were made with a mama elephant border die.

remember you have until the end of the month to play along for a generous prize and, as always, it’s an anything goes christmas theme. i know, it’s summer and maybe it’s too early to think about holiday cards, but there are only 3 Rudolph Days Challenges before Christmas – will you be ready?

thanks for popping by.

Penny Black And More Reminder – Masculine

i’m back with a reminder that you still have plenty of time to join the Penny Black and More Challenge where we’re focusing on cards For Boys and Men this month.

birthday card with cat in gray and blue

once again i used caran d’ache luminance colour pencils on a light grey card stock; this happy cat is from the penny black birthday critters clear set and the sentiment is a penny black die called sweet wishes. i sponged distress ink around the edges of both the image panel and the card.

our rules are easy – the focal point must be hand stamped and must follow the theme to be eligible for a prize from one of the generous sponsors: Penny Black, Crafts U Love plus A Clarity Art stencil.
