i painted a different monster from the Impression Obsession Monster Mash stamp set (CL886) with twinkling H2Os on hot press watercolour paper and brayered the embossed background with distress inks; i painted the hugs sentiment too (DIE516-A).

the current lawn fawnatics challenge theme is LOTS OF LOVE!

i painted these cute lawn fawn Snow Cool penguins with twinkling H2Os on hot press watercolour paper, die cut from coordinating dies, and popped them on foam tape to a distress ink sponged background. i did stamp the snowflakes with white ink and attached hearts from the Say What? Gift Tags die set and snowflakes from the mini snowflake die set. i stamped the sentiment from the Snow Cool set in purple ink and added glitter to her hat.

As You Like It Challenge – Favourite Shape or Fold; my favourite shape is the rectangle because it is easily divided into thirds and i usually use two thirds for an image and one third for a sentiment – that’s my comfort zone.

i bought this impression obsession Monster mash stamp set (CL886) after halloween but i really wanted to use him so i paired him with the IO hugs DIE516-A. i painted the monster and sentiment with twinkling H2Os on hot press watercolour paper, but i brayered the embossed background with distress inks.

i stamped the inside with a heart from the Handmade (MC146) set, typically used to stamp the back of cards. i forgot to take a pic of that.

this was a quick card to make since i used a pre-made tag from an old kaisercraft pad of paper that i wish was still in production.

i die cut the memory box Pembroke Heart die with white card stock, used markers to colour everything, added yellow enamel dots to the flower centres, red glitter to the berries, and wink of stella to the stems and leaves. i stamped the love sentiment from the poppystamps love never melts set in purple ink.

Winter Wonderland

i’m playing along with the LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 43 – WONDERFUL WINTER and this inspiration image and colour palette:

i painted these adorable snow people from the lawn fawn ready, set, snow set with my new winsor & newton watercolour markers on hot pressed watercolour paper. the trees from the same stamp set were stamped in grey ink, die cut with coordinating dies and some were popped on foam tape.

i painted the snow cones from the lawn fawn snow cool set, glued them together to form a heart and popped them on foam tape too.

i sponged the sky with distress inks and added glitter to the cones, pom pom and trees.

i haven’t been creating as much as i’d like due to an RA flare; my shoulder will eventually need replacing. I did make a mid month DT card just to remind you that there’s still time to play along with the penny black and more challenge.

i covered all the ‘love, hearts and flowers’ of the february theme at the penny black and more challenge in my DT card.

i painted the penny black love graffiti image with twinkling H2Os and added yellow enamel dots to the flower centres. this cute hedgie is a 2007 wood stamp but like a lot of Penny Black stamps, i think it’s timeless.

i had just enough time to create this card for the impression obsession challenge theme of i adore you.

i used an IO stamp set CL254 ‘celebrate’ that i found for 50% in the clearance section of their site and i stamped the ‘i heart you’ sentiment on the inside. i’ve coloured with koh-i-noor coloured pencils, or pencil crayons as we say in canada, but i’m not happy with how they lay down colour or blend. it’ll have to do.

i’m also playing along with the rubber buggy challenge #10 theme of Valentines, Love, Wedding or Anniversary.

i painted with twinkling H2Os, used the adorable penny black hugs! mice and two penny black dies: heart string and sending love. i rarely make cards this bright, but it’s summer and i was in the mood to use my least favourite colour – orange, usually reserved for autumn card making.

i was inspired by joni’s cute couple, the banners, bows and sentiment. i watercoloured the background and penny black hedgies with twinkling H2Os, added die cut hearts and bows separated by PPP Razzle Dazzle seed beads in red and the container includes some pretty charcoal grey ones that i attached to their noses.

i watercoloured this cute hedgie from the penny black clear stamp set hugs! with twinkling H2Os and i used a couple of dies: my favorite things stitched circle, my favorite things scalloped border and spellbinders petite scallop circle.

i used my scor-pal and followed this flap fold card tutorial by Julie Davison on splitcoastampers; i changed the orientation of the images and added designer paper to the top fold.

sketch challenges, for me, are a real challenge; i usually literally follow sketches, but this time i was inspired to go way beyond my comfort zone and attempt a loose interpretation like some of the My Favorite Things designers did for the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge – Sketch 265.

i stamped images from the MFT sunflower sweetheart stamp set instead of using three separate elements and watercoloured everything with twinkling H2Os; glossy accents were added to the hearts and i attached a few pretty pink posh clear sequins – i only used half of the sentiment from the same stamp set.

for my DT card, i created this valentine card for my husband. i used this adorable bear couple from the Cuddly Buddly Clear Stamp set – Love is in the Air CBS0017, water coloured with twinkling H2Os; i stamped and cut the heart sentiment from the Cuddly Buddly set – Little Poppets in Love CBS0016 four times to give it some dimension.

i coloured this cute darcie’s stamp with derwent inktense pencils, but i stamped the umbrella twice so i would have a pink one to cut and cover the black one. i lightly sponged around the edges, added white gel dots to the raindrops and cut the sentiment in half to work with papertake weekly sketch #86.

this is my mid-month DT card to remind you that you have until january 29 to play along with the love and romance theme this month at the penny black and more challenge. i used one of the images from the penny black ‘every which way’ clear set and painted the sky with my new water-soluble wax pastels and then i used coloured pencil, distress ink pads, twinkling H2Os to colour everything else. this is my valentine card for my husband, who loves scrabble; i found these tiny scrabble letters in a clearance bin years ago, but the dotted paper is new from whimsy stamps and so is the corrugated DCWV paper.

this tag is the result of getting inky yesterday; my fingers were purple from distress inks. i wanted to play along with the Ranger Ink february inspiration photo so i used all the palette colours; i stamped and sponged with distress inks in red, pink and purple plus dotted some brushed pewter distress stain and finally, cut the heart, covered it in stickles and popped it on foam squares. all stamps are from penny black’s ‘clearly in love‘ set. thanks for popping by.

this very cute stamp was a gift from a friend – thanks sarn! it’s perfect for a valentine’s card and it’ll come in handy when i make more thank you cards for my daughter to give to her vets for caring for her two bunnies. i coloured with a paintbrush and distress ink pads, as usual, added stickles to the flower centre and i’m submitting it to these challenges:

this is my january DT card for papercraft cafe; store owner marie wanted to see some valentine themed cards so i thought these penny black hugging mice were perfect. i coloured with distress ink pads, as usual, and used plenty of stickles on the flower centre and around the edge of the image. i followed deconstructed sketch #83 by the talented jen shults, who is also having a DT call that ends tomorrow, and i’m submitting this to the really reasonable ribbon challenge of love and ribbon. thanks for popping by.

Molly Blooms Love Birds

the paperlane challenge is holding its first challenge – Anything BUT square with Molly Blooms Stamps as your main image. i watercoloured the house and birds with distress inks, gave them a really shiny roof with glossy accents and added yellow stickles to the dots. the heart is a chip board button i covered with some basic grey DP and coated with glossy accents. i’ll set this aside for my husband since our anniversary is next month.  when i taught my watercolouring class last week, we had an interesting discussion about just what kinds of cards are acceptable to men – i’m lucky that my DH likes everything i make. thanks for popping by.

this week’s penny black saturday challenge is a fun idea of DT member BETH – to choose 4 items from a buffet; so many choices! in the end, i chose 3 gems, ribbon, patterned paper and three flowers. the image is watercoloured and i added stickles to the flowers and covered the leaves with glossy accents.
