floral frenzy is the theme of this week’s penny black saturday challenge and i’m also submitting this to the open theme at flutterby wednesday; at least that’s my plan, unless the internet connection keeps acting up. the image is coloured with distress inks and i added some stickles to the butterflies. thanks for popping by.

Love Graffiti

this cute graffiti artist is coloured with distress inks and this is my valentine card for my husband, who usually gets hedgie cards regardless of the occasion. i’m submitting it to these challenges:
penny black and more at allsorts love and hearts theme
allsorts – one or more hearts
paper sundaes – valentine’s
crafter’s companion – love is in the air
simply create too – love is in the air
thanks for popping by.
Time To Celebrate

this sweet image was fun to colour with distress inks and i’m submitting it to the following challenges:
penny black saturday – anything goes
creative inspiration paint – inspired by birthdays
joanna sheen – celebrations
thanks for popping by.
CASEd With Permission

this week’s penny black saturday challenge is to CASE-IT – a card by DT member beth, which i followed quite literally so it came together quickly. i can understand why people CASE cards – someone else does the work; however, all over blog land, i notice and respect the copyright owner’s right to decide what they will or will not allow regarding their own creations.
i recently started a thread on splitcoaststampers regarding this hot topic after someone CASEd one of my cards without permission and passed it off as her own. some vociferous protesters believe if something’s on the ‘net, it’s there to be CASEd – an acronym with varied meanings, depending on one’s perspective; others were petty and chastised or mocked me for my position.
to avoid any further confusion here, i am not referring to being inspired to use a certain product or colours; only the CASEing without permission and copyright infringement.
i respect the creative soul and the expressions thereof; it is out of respect that i ask others to do the same for me. thanks for popping by.
Hoppy Holidays

hoppy holidays seems like an appropriate greeting for everyone; it’s better than my bah humbug, right? i’ve had this cute penny black frog for almost two years; i coloured him with aquamarkers and distress inks, added flower soft to the hat and stickles for snow. i’m submitting it to the following challenges:
penny black saturday – make a tag
one crazy stamper – christmas/holiday
flower soft – happy holidays
crimbo crackers – snowflakes
oldie but goodie – christmas animals
thanks for popping by.
Hedgie Bakes A Cake

i still haven’t finished my christmas cards, (shame on me!) but i’m taking a break from those because i need a birthday card. i coloured the image with distress inks, as usual, added the tablecloth and popped the balloons. i’m submitting this to the penny black and more at allsorts challenge. thanks for popping by.
Tagging My Friend, Anne
the splitcoaststampers’ free for all challenge on friday was to make a tag inspired by a cyber friend’s gallery…and call her out to join in the challenge. i tagged anne; i love her elegant CAS cards with her signature beautiful bows, but also her cards that show off her sense of humour, which always make me smile. the image is coloured with distress inks and of course i added stickles. thanks for popping by.
Skating Hedgie

i made this clean and simple card for the penny black saturday challenge of christmas + red + embossing, which was very challenging. the image is coloured with distress inks with stickles on his hat and you might be able to see the stickles for snow; it’s so dull this morning and we’re supposed to get some of that white fluffy stuff. thanks for popping by.
Teacup Mice

it felt good to have enough time to create a card today; this is for two challenges – the stampalot to use blue and green and the one crazy stamper theme of food or drink. the image is coloured with distress inks, pierced and popped with foam squares and i used my new border punch on the edges. thanks for popping by.
Hedgie Tote

i’ve been enjoying creating these quick and easy totes. the image is watercoloured with distress inks as usual; i added glossy accents to the star and some seed beads to the tree. thanks for popping by.
i’m submitting this to the following challenges:
penny black saturday – green and trees
penny black & more at allsorts – all creatures great and small
winter wonderland – awwwwwwwww what a cutie; use any cute Christmas Image
wags ‘n whiskers – christmas themed
Detachable Bookmark Card
i finally got around to making one of these; the tutorial was posted about a year ago on splitcoastampers, but you know me – i often play catch up.

i’m submitting this to the really reasonable ribbon christmas challenge and the paper sundaes bookmark challenge. as always, the images are coloured with distress inks and stickles were added to the centre. thanks for popping by.
Boo

i love these penny black critters that float around hanging onto a balloon string. as usual, the images are watercoloured with distress inks with black flower soft added to all the solid parts of the cat, black stickles on the bats and glossy accents on the balloon. the sentiment strip is actually ribbon. thanks for popping by.
i’m submitting this to the following challenges:
allsorts – halloween
flower soft – to use flower soft on cards that feature orange and black
paper sundaes – i chose black and sparkle from the sundae bar
penny black saturday – too cute to spook
ribbon carousel – halloween.
Scarecrow Treats
this sets a new record for the largest card i’ve ever made; it’s 5 3/4 by 6 1/2.” as usual, i watercoloured with distress inks and put stickles in the flower centre. the stampalot challenge this month is food and it doesn’t say the food has to be nutritious, so candy corn it is. i’m also submitting this to the paper sundaes halloween/fall challenge and the cupcake craft challenge to use buttons and bows. thanks for popping by.
Teddy’s Fall Fun
it’s been a week since i posted, so i’m playing catch up again; i created this card for three challenges: allsorts bear with us; flower soft fall fun and, for the first time, iheart2stamp’s sketch for you to try (posted below). as always, teddy’s watercoloured with distress inks and i added autumn flower soft and punched leaves. it’s so gloomy today that it’s hard to take a brighter photo; maybe i need a new camera. thanks for popping by.
Inspired By Trees

thank you to my new followers! it’s encouraging to know that people are interested in what i’m creating.
steph, the inspiration challenge hostess at splitcoaststampers finds the most amazing sites and this week i found this beautiful artwork. so, for the first time, i played with gesso – fun. i used tim holtz paper distress collection core’dination for the card base; i love this stuff and can’t resist sanding it to reveal the core. thanks for popping by.
Guest Designer Card
i am so excited to be a guest designer for the penny black at allsorts challenge this month! not only do i love penny black stamps and the monthly pace, but then i found out it was for an inspiration challenge, which i also love.

this beautiful inspiration photo captures the start of what is my favourite season – finally, cooler temperatures and those rich colourful landscapes.

i watercoloured the image with distress inks, added autumn flower soft to the tree, cut and popped the envelopes and of course i added stickles to the flower centres. so, ink up those penny black stamps and submit them by the 28th for a chance to win some lovely prizes. thanks to the penny black at allsorts team and thanks for popping by.
Halloween Turtle
i made this in honour of linda, aka morningsun47, who was splitcoaststampers’ featured stamper on september 18. i cased this cute card and, as per the rules, changed at least three things: the occasion, sentiment and colours, plus i added the fuzzy ribbon. the image is watercoloured with distress inks. thanks for popping by.
Christmas Surprise

this month’s penny black at allsorts challenge is all about getting ahead for christmas, so i made another card to add to my stash. the image is watercoloured with distress inks and letraset aquamarkers and i used plenty of stickles on all the snow. thanks for popping by.
Trick Or Mice Treats

i’ve been so busy with volunteer activities that i think this will be my only card for this week; i so admire those who can create more quickly. it took some time for me to create this scene for the penny black saturday challenge this week, but it was fun.
four of the images are penny black clear stamps, but the tree is a stamp design by my daughter and bought by a stamp company (they added the moon, unfortunately; wouldn’t a row of spooky trees look awesome?). everything is watercoloured with distress inks and some glossy accents were added. thanks for popping by.
Betsy Is Framed

i’m finally starting to feel up to making cards again. this week’s allsorts challenge is you’ve been framed, so betsy is inlaid inside the window cutout and surrounded by a polka dot frame on the outside. she is watercoloured with distress inks and the edges are sponged with same. i’m also submitting this to the open theme at flutterby wednesday. thanks for popping by.
Happy Mail From Penny Black At Allsorts

this gorgeous penny black stamp that i won at penny black at allsorts‘ july challenge and the cute card from brenda arrived in today’s mail – thank you! since it’s a monthly challenge (more my speed), you have until the 28th to enter your penny black images for a chance to win – check it out!
Daisy Chain Mice

this is my second post today; i’m trying to focus on creating so the pain from my tooth extraction is less noticeable. i made this for the flower soft challenge to create a rectangle card and for the touchy feely theme at the penny black saturday challenge. i watercoloured the image and sky with distress inks, used flower soft on the flowers and grass, yellow stickles in the flower centres and popped the matted image on foam tape. thanks for popping by.
Hello!
thank you to my new subscribers; i appreciate you taking the time to visit my blog! the penny black at allsorts challenge this month is free and easy, so i chose this image to watercolour with distress inks; i covered a chipboard button to match and matted the image on a die cut label 1. i’m also submitting this to the paper sundaes challenge – just saying hi. thanks for popping by.
Snow In July

it’s so hot and humid, i almost wish it were snowing today. i made this for the penny black saturday challenge – christmas in july and the stampalot challenge – anything goes this month. the image is watercoloured, his nose is covered in glossy accents and stickles were added for the snow and the stars on the gift. thanks for popping by.
Wheelbarrow Bouquet

the penny black at allsorts challenge is celebrating its first birthday with extra prizes, a quiz for penny black fans, and a flower power theme. i’m also submitting this to the stampin’ for the weekend challenge to use my favourite things: watercolouring, stickles, distressing, keeping things fairly simple. thanks for popping by.
Penny Black Saturday Celebrates

happy third birthday to the penny black saturday challenge team, which is celebrating with extra prizes and a blog hop; the theme is pesky critters. i raced to get this card done today because i’ll be too busy to finish it by the deadline otherwise. i watercoloured with distress inks, added glossy accents to the balloons and, of course, stickles to the flower centres and gift box. i sponged the die cut stars, covered them in stickles and added some paper streamers. thanks for popping by.
Hedgies’ Gift

this week’s penny black saturday challenge is ‘for the guys.’ the image is watercoloured, die cut and attached to a crumpled and sanded die cut piece of paper. i distressed the edges of the dotted layer and i had to add stickles somewhere, so they’re on the dots of the gift and the flower centres. i’m also submitting this to the simon says stamp and show your distressed/torn edges. thanks for popping by.
Dotted ATC
i was inspired by my daughter to create this; she’s the artist who encourages me to try new media for the sheer joy of it and not to worry about the artistic outcome; she’s right – art is subjective anyway. also, after seeing sandra’s ATCs, i had to try one, so this is my first; ok, the first one that i’m willing to share. i spent some time last night working on a couple of different designs on these small spaces. i’m submitting this to two challenges: the flutterby wednesday polka dot theme and the penny black saturday doodling challenge. thanks for popping by.
Snail’s Portrait

choosing my favourite penny black stamp was challenging, but i decided to use this portraiture stamp for penny black at allorts‘ june challenge – you’re my favourite. i decided to use some of my other favourites on this card: i watercoloured the image, including the sky, with distress inks; added white liquid pearls to snail’s dots; stickles on the sun; my favourite new punch on the pink layer; and pink and green. i’m also submitting this to the monthly fan club challenge at splitcoaststampers.
as i was painting this morning, the mail arrived with the penny black stamp i won last month and this cute card from brenda. thanks so much!

thanks for popping by.
Pink Daisies For Class
this is the other card that i taught yesterday in my watercolouring with distress inks class at papercraft cafe. i only had two participants this time, but it allowed for more individual attention. it was a lot of fun; the ladies were so enthusiastic and it was nice to see how happy they were with their cards. the impression obsession daisies were over stamped with the penny black text background and the punched border is made with my new ek success punch; i love it. thanks for popping by.
Skies Of Blue
this week’s penny black saturday challenge is fussy and fancy, so this what i fussed over all morning. i watercoloured the image, covered it in glossy accents and stamped the penny black text background over it. i sponged the edge of the die cut image, the round doily and die cut a second doily. i made tiny faux dew drops out of bits of paper and glossy accents, used the bow-easy and added a button to the bow. the inside is actually finished as well.
i’m also submitting this to the splitcoaststampers’ monthly fan club theme. thanks for popping by.
Hey There!
A Cozy Breakfast
the penny black at allsorts monthly challenge is to create anything but square or rectangle and i love making circle cards. i watercoloured the image, covered the button in glossy accents and kept it fairly simple because i’m giving this one to my husband. for 36 years, he has carried on his family’s long standing tradition of making soft boiled eggs for sunday breakfast. thanks for popping by.
Spring Blossoms
this week’s penny black saturday challenge is clean and simple, which i think is the perfect layout for this watercoloured penny black image; i added peony pink flower soft for the flower soft spring challenge and i’m also submitting this to splitcoaststampers‘ monthly fan club challenge. if only spring weather would arrive, the picture might be a little more clear. thanks for popping by.
In Anne’s Honour

i created this card for my friend, anne, who is splitcoaststampers‘ Queen For The Day; it was anne who started this fun game just over a year ago. i cased this card from her gallery, but i used the penny black snail stamp and watercoloured the image. thanks for popping by.
