Thanks Doc

I wanted to thank one of my medical specialists for doing telephone interviews every 6 months instead of just cancelling my appointments as one did.

I used the waffle flower frontline heroes 1 stamp set directly on Kraft and used colour pencils; the hamster was stamped on Arches hot press watercolour paper, painted with twinkling H2Os, fussy cut and popped on foam tape. I finished it off with a blue border on a white card base.

Thank You Ellen Hutson Twelve Tags 2019

i was absolutely shocked to see that i was the random winner of the Ellen Hutson Twelve Tags 2019 challenge! i had to get hubby to check to see if i was reading the winners’ post correctly and yes, one of the tags i entered was posted so it was true.

if you follow me you know that Christmas is challenging for me because of my son’s brain cancer diagnosis in early december and his birthday at the end of december right after christmas. the 12 tags challenge has been a tradition for 6 years now; it gives me something to focus on and feel productive during the holidays.

so, this is the card I sent to Ellen Hutson. i painted the poppy stamps wreath, die cut with hot press watercolour paper, with twinkling H2Os and added glossy accents to the berries. the WPlus9 sentiment fit perfectly.

Blooming Pink

there are a number of challenges using pink for breast cancer awareness this month. i’ve mentioned before that i love pink but i’d like to raise awareness of the think before you pink campaign that “calls for more transparency and accountability by companies that take part in breast cancer fundraising, and encourages consumers to ask critical questions about pink ribbon promotions.” as one who has lived the experience i ask more questions and check more labels; i hope you do too.

on to my card.

pink flower thank you card

i painted the marianne design die cut flower with twinkling H2Os, added a marianne design branch and die cut sentiment from penny black. the dark green card stock and pretty background papers were included in the simon says kit of the month for may but these pretty papers are still available.

i’m playing along with these challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge ALL THINGS PINK
Scrapy Land Challenges #123 – Always Anything Goes with Die Brand SL sells (penny black)
Daisy Chain Challenge # 35 Pink or Halloween
Craft Rocket Challenge # 64 Pink

Numbered Thank You

i needed a masculine thank you card for a number cruncher so i kept it clean and simple.

i die cut the mama elephant thanks from black cardstock using stick it to layer it twice and attach it to the numbered paper.

Christmas Thank You

i’m playing along with the new impression obsession challenge theme of So Very Thankful!

i stamped some of the images in the IO christmas minis clear set (MC199) on kraft, used coloured pencils and a sentiment from the IO thanks sentiments set (CL41), and matted it onto a shimmer green cardstock.

i’m also playing along with these challenges:

As You Like It Challenge Monochrome Or Rainbow (&why): colours brighten my day and i love to use a colourful palette and mix my own custom paint colours.

A Simple Thank You

i was asked to make a thank you card for a male so here’s my design, although i think this would be ok for any recipient.

PBthank you copyright linda snailzpace.com-1

i love the colours; a combination i rarely use. since the design is clean and simple, it was also a quick and easy card to make. the sentiment is a penny black die and the papers are from an older basicgrey 6 x 6 pad, hello luscious, from my stash that i really need to use up.

CAS Thank You

i created this clean and simple card for my daughter to thank those who honoured her with a prestigious academic award.

creative expressions thank you copyright linda snailzpace.com

proud mama moment while i reflected on her accomplishments and she’s not done yet. i used white and silver shimmer papers with a matte purple; the creative expressions thank you was die cut twice and centred on the sizzix label.

i’d like to submit this to these challenges:

As You Like It Challenge Favourite Cardbase Shape Or Fold (&why): the rectangle is my favourite card base shape because it so easily divides into three and suits my style of an image and a sentiment.

International Art & Soul – #35 Sentiment as Main Focus

Autumn Leaves

our trees are almost bare but just like some of the leaves i’m hanging on to my favourite season so i really enjoyed creating this card. besides, i need a break from mass producing christmas items.

IO leaves.linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com

the IO maple leaves (DIE030-S) were cut, painted with twinkling H2Os and attached in a circle to paper that i swiped with distress inks to create the look of woodgrain. i cut the thanks from the IO greetings set (DIE174-W) five times in dark brown and attached it.

i’m playing along with these challenges:

Silly Squirrels

i’m playing along with the Impression Obsession challenge and its ‘so very thankful’ theme.

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com. impression obsession squirrels

i used the IO Dies: leafy branch DIE055-N (pretend it’s a tree), and squirrel set DIE213-D and painted everything with twinkling H2Os. the squirrels and acorns are popped on foam tape and the sentiment is from the More Basic Greetings CL549 clear set. i attached the watercolour paper panel to an A2 card base and this card goes to my husband.

we have these silly squirrels racing around our back yard to find hiding spots for food only i’m not sure they’re the same squirrels that find it.

i’m also submitting this card to Simon Says Stamp, where Anything Goes and Shopping Our Stash #318 Your Favorite Season – mine is fall for the cooler temperatures, the colours, hot chocolate and baking comfort food. :)

So Thankful

it’s now been one month since my new hip and for the first time since surgery, i got out today! even if it was only to my follow up doctor’s appointment. :)

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com mama elephant mouse bookmark-1

i wanted to thank the home visiting nurse who followed up with my unexpected severe reaction to adhesive so i created this card for her, mostly in blues just like her uniform.

i painted the adorable mouse and envelope with twinkling H2Os, both from the mama elephant page huggers stamp set, die cut with the coordinating dies, and popped the die cut box on foam tape; both it and the sentiment were die cut from blue corrugated paper. finally, i die cut the scallop frame and attached it to a white base.

Double Double, Eh?

if you follow me, you know that i got a new hip the first week of june so i have really missed playing and making a paper mess. it has taken me most of the week to do a little each day, but i managed to create this card for my husband and the Paper Smooches Challenge – men!

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com paper smooches coffee-1

i found this coffee cup die at www.papersmooches.net and it’s perfect for thanking my hubby for bringing my timmys double doubles to the hospital. i die cut the red and white from a tims commemorative paper cup celebrating canada’s 150th with canadian icons, fussy cut the inukshuk, and die cut the corrugated paper from the tims commemorative sleeve.

i die cut the beans and painted them with twinkling H2Os and albrecht durer watercolour pencils.

Green And Gold

i’m cutting it close to the deadline for the Essentials by Ellen March Pin-Sights Challenge but that’s because i scrapped my first card – an idea that only looked good in my mind’s eye.

this is the beautiful collection of photos for inspiration:

and here’s my quickly made card, inspired by all the green and gold:

i splattered with twinkling H2Os, die cut the pretty pink posh border and added the essentials by ellen many thanks die cut sentiment.

Physio Fitness

first i’d like to apologize for not getting around to comment on all the creative cards that pop up in my reader. i knew i would have a physiotherapy routine to follow with my new knee (my christmas present), but i didn’t anticipate that my creating and computer time would be so limited as a result.

copyright linda@snailzpace.wordpress.com taylored expressions exercise grumplings-1

as i previously mentioned, my physiotherapist is very happy with the results of all my work – so much so that she insists on increasing my time spent on rehab and the weights on my leg. i tried whining about the time it takes and how it interferes with my creativity; i don’t think she heard me. anyway, i made this card to thank her for all her encouragement and support.

after i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os, i fussy cut this little taylored expressions exercise grumpling and attached a mini wobble to it.

Many Thanks

i’m playing along with the Essentials by Ellen February Pin-Sights Challenge and this month’s inspiration is an aqua mood board:

banner-pin-sights

pin-sights-feb-2017

copyright linda @ wordpress.com.pinsights challenge feb2017

my card was inspired by the ice cream cones; i wonder what aqua tastes like.

the swirled texture made me think of stripes so i painted twinkling H2O stripes on cold pressed watercolour paper and painted opposite stripes on the many thanks die cut sentiment which was layered three times. i also liked the swirls of the die cut bold blossoms, which i painted to match and covered them in glitter. to finish off, i added pearls from the 28 Lilac Lane Party On embellishment kit and attached some gold mini prills.

Bunny Thank You

one of my daughter’s bunnies had a couple of teeth pulled so i made this card for her to give to one of the vets; he’s a specialist. the impression obsession challenge is clean and simple which is perfect – a masculine CAS card is all i needed. i coloured the background and the IO resting rabbit (D8380) with twinkling H2Os, traced over the grass with a derwent inktense pencil and added flower soft to his tail.

i’m also playing along with 101: watercolour and this week’s theme is fun time; i always enjoy losing myself in my watercolouring.

Simple Thank You

i needed another thank you card and i was inspired by the sketch at the stick it down challenge blog to create this one. i got brave and stamped the flourishes sentiment directly on the paper for a change; there’s a coordinating thank you sentiment on the inside. i applied a bit of gesso to the marianne designs flower and leaves and i was done in record time. i might just have to make a set of these.

Thank You

i created this card for the june magenta challenge: school’s out so i thought the magenta thank you sentiment would be appropriate, along with the apple themed papers that i’ve had in my stash for quite some time. the darker apples in the bottom row are pink foil, although the shine doesn’t show in this photo.

Magenta Thanks

the card measures 4 1/4″ square and it’ll be added to my stash. thanks for popping by.
