i haven’t had much time this past week to create but i needed a masculine birthday card so i quickly made this card.
i embossed some tim holtz paper with a marianne design embossing folder, lightly sanded and added a marianne design sentiment die cut from gold mirri paper. thanks for popping by.

i had so much fun painting stripes on my card for last week’s My Favorite Things sketch challenge that i used the same technique on this week’s submission for both their sketch challenge 263 and colour challenge.
i mixed my own colours from twinkling H2Os to paint the stripes; unlike other watercolour paints, mixing colours with twinkling H2Os is a challenge because the shimmery mica added might interfere with the result you’re trying to create – but i love mixing colours anyway. after embossing the background, i sanded to reveal more white and painted the mat border.
the MFT die-namics blueprints 12 set was used for all the die cuts which were painted with twinkling H2O washes and i used a sentiment from the sunflower sweetheart stamp set.
i’m also submitting this to the simon says stamp ombre challenge.

it’s a struggle to be merry on this dull and snowy day, but i am glad that i made my first christmas card for 2016! i know it’s a long way off but the only rushing around i’ll do in november is adding sentiments to the insides because i might not be sure who i’ll send which card to yet.
the jingle belles would like to see something old and something new so i used an image in a fancy pants paper pad that’s about three years old and is now discontinued, unfortunately; the new items on my card are the be sentiment stamp and the merry die.
i’d also like to submit this card to the simon says stamp wednesday challenge to use something new and they’re featuring Wplus9 Products so i used two new Wplus9 items: hand lettered holiday stamp set and the hand lettered holiday die.

i’m playing along with the Wplus9 Throwback Thursday Challenge #10, although i’m just making the deadline. i don’t have the featured dies but i love designer maureen’s card with the quilted squares so here’s what i created:
i used the small stitching line from the doodle buds stamp set and added washes of twinkling H2Os, matted it on black card stock and used the sentiment from the same set.

wishing you the best of everything for the new year! i don’t remember ever making a new year’s card before but while i was designing cards for buddly crafts, i found some hidden gold glitter paper and thought it would coordinate perfectly with the image.
the glasses from the Love is in the Air clear stamp set were stamped in gold ink, coloured with my favourite Faber-Castell Albrecht Dürer Watercolour Pencils and i added the die cut gold glitter border and numbers.

while i was waiting for my daughter to arrive christmas eve for her holiday visit, i still needed a gift card holder so i followed the MFT sketch challenge and used the MFT treat pocket die to quickly create one for her.
i popped these cute die-namics mittens on foam tape and did some creative die cutting to get the sentiment strip die to fit the sentiment. thanks for popping by.

i’m sharing a project that i designed for Buddly Crafts using some of the smaller images in the Toby Tumble & Robins clear set along with the Jolly Santa set.
i used a pre-made treat bag and decorated it and the tags with watercoloured images using twinkling H2Os and added some white flocking to santa’s bear.

i created this card for my dad, who will celebrate his 91st birthday in two weeks, following the MFT sketch challenge.
i think this MFT stamp set is adorable and i was so glad to see the birthday sentiment in it. i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and free hand cut the sentiment, attached MFT die-namics banners and some pretty pink posh gold star sequins.

last but not least, and the one that took the longest, is my tag for day 12 of the Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge.
i was inspired by day 12 designer sandy allnock’s ornaments made with yupo. i tried watercolouring on yupo over a year ago and found it to be quite challenging; however, when i saw sandy’s creations i thought i’d give it another go – i’m still not a fan, but it was something different for a change. yupo is a plastic surface used in the printing industry and adopted by artists; it’s water resistant, will not absorb a wet medium and needs to air dry. after two days of drying time, as sandy suggested, i covered the green bracts with glossy accents, which is difficult with my RA and hands so the pink ones got tossed and i replaced them with watercolour paper and twinkling H2Os.
the memory box grapevine wreath and stems with berries were also coloured with twinkling H2Os and i added a mirri gold wplus9 die cut merry sentiment, inspired by Dawn Woleslagle, a bow, some string and i have a tree ornament or a present tag.

the theme for day 11 of the Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge is ’twas the night before christmas.
i was inspired by the warm yellow lighting that both Sharon Harnist and Jean Manis, Day 11 designers, used so i painted a yellow glow around this indoor creature, a penny black mouse, and watercoloured with twinkling H2Os. i used a bright pink permanent marker to change the gold peel off sticker to pink and added some ribbon.

this is my tag i created for day 9 of the Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge and it’s another fun sketch; once again, i literally followed it.
i love both designers’ tag shapes, but i was inspired by Heather Campbell’s use of designer paper for the background.
i created the sky with distress inks, die cut the marianne design tree and the my favorite things die-namics snow drifts from white glitter paper and popped the tree on foam tape.

i made up for lost time yesterday and created a tag for day 10 of the Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge.
my tag is a literal interpretation of the sketch and was inspired by Kelly Alvarez’s tag; i like how she created a scene inside the circle so i did that too, but with a setting sun. i used lawn fawn dies and white glitter card stock for the trees and mini snowflakes and coloured with distress inks.

i was inspired by julie ebersole’s watercoloured tag and miriam prantner’s santa’s scene she created so i put santa in a snow globe and watercoloured with twinkling H2Os; this image is actually three stampendous stamps from one set: santa, the snow globe and the sentiment.

my RA symptoms are a bit exacerbated today, so i only got one tag made for day 8 of the Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge and this one was really challenging.
i was inspired by day 8 designer jill foster and her cute penny black image, colour palette and all the dimension.
i watercoloured this adorable snowman (snow woman?) with twinkling H2Os in pink, yellow, orange, purple, blue, grey and some burgundy for the heirloom carrot nose. i embossed the kraft paper with a cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder and lightly applied white ink; the image was die cut with a my favorite things stitched circle die and popped on foam tape. pink and clear stickles were added and i coloured a gold peel off sticker sentiment with permanent markers to make it orange. to finish it off, i added two ribbons. this is going to my daughter because she loves silly snowmen too.

i created this tag for day 6 of Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge and it was fun learning a new technique by Jennifer McGuire.
i usually use stickles and don’t have a lot of loose glitter, but i do have a blue and a green ritz glitter and used both of them on this tag to alternate the colours.
i added two strips of scor pal tape, also covered with the blue glitter, rounded the corners and added my ribbons. thanks for popping by.

i was inspired by Kay Miller’s tag; i love the colours, the snowflakes and how she layered anther tag behind the first.
i die snowflakes from glitter paper using the lawn fawn mini snowflakes die and attached them to a turquoise tag die cut with the lawn fawn tag you’re it die. the background was stamped in white with the penny black Christmas Story stamp. thanks for popping by.

i was inspired by Laurel Beard’s stocking tag so i die cut the memory box stocking and free hand cut the toe and heel from glitter paper; the letters were also die cut from glitter paper using the memory box alphabet die.

i’m slowly creating tags for the ellen hutson’s 12 Tag of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge and i finally finished my tag for day 2.
i was inspired by both designers’ tags for Day 2; i like the dimension Kittie Caracciolo achieved and Dina Kowal’s watercolouring. i used twinkling H2Os as usual to paint what i’m calling a christmas rose and all the leaves and i created the woodgrain pattern with pumice stone distress ink.

i’m playing along with the impression obsession challenge – season’s greetings, using the IO peace die; i love the typeface. this time i attached it using the stick it adhesive sheets which are much less messy than a glue pen but with my RA, just as fiddly.
i’m also playing along with the jingle belles’ prompt to use leftovers on your projects and these strips are what remained after i made a set of cards for an aunt – yet to be photographed; one more thing i seem to be falling behind on.

i used the Christmas Holly Birds stamp, watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and i added a magenta peel off gold sticker in the corner. while i was colouring this image, Ellie Knol – DT Magenta, posted an easy christmas card on the magenta blog using this same stamp; how striking to not colour it.
i was lucky enough to win a $25.00 certificate to the store last month and i must say how impressed i am with their fast shipping; no, i didn’t waste any time going shopping – thank you magenta!

the mittens are in a die set that came free with my purchase, and since they’re so cute i had to use them. this card came together quickly, thanks to the sketch and because there’s no stamping and colouring! even the sentiment is a sticker, so it’s fun to sometimes make cards that don’t take me so long.

i watercoloured this tiny snowman image from the penny black clear stamp set called christmas every day with twinkling H2Os.
i’m a dog person, even though i grew up with dogs, cats, fish, and a cat that tried to catch the fish.
but then my daughter adopted a baby bunny and later rescued another from a shelter named skippy; it was amazing to see him transform from a shy bunny not wanting to venture much beyond the security of his cardboard box to the sweetest little ‘goofball,’ so happy to entertain us and make us laugh.
i knew bunnies were cute, but i had no idea how smart they are. when i called to video chat, skippy would put his face right up to the web cam and sit and listen to my boring stories about the projects i was working on; it was funny how responsive he was.
unfortunately, skippy passed away last week and i will miss him terribly.
