it’s been a whirlwind two weeks with out of town conferences and volunteer work, but things are starting to settle down and it felt so good to have a bit of crafting time; now i have to get caught up on some commenting and blog viewing. i made this CAS card for: the jingle belles who are celebrating all living creatures, sandra’s rudolph day challenge and the circle theme at christmas stampin all year long. thanks for popping by.

Happy Rudolph Day And Happy Birthday

i made this card for blogging buddy sandra’s rudolph day challenge to make one or more christmas cards on the 25th of every month. i’ve been way too busy lately, so it was nice to make a QAE (quick and easy) card for the occasion. also, happy birthday today to my daughter, our two month early christmas present, and her first bunny that turns 4. thanks for popping by.
Halloween Inchie

i love this cute penny black inchie image for halloween cards and, as usual, i coloured with distress ink pads and sponged the edge, stamped the cobwebs and die cut with what is possibly my favourite spellbinders die. i’m submitting this little card to these challenges:
papercraft star a halloween pumpkin ends october 23
card crafter’s circle halloween ends october 25
sweet stampin’ halloween ends october 25
no matter which halloween ends october 25
the cutie pie halloween ends october 26
pan pastel animal ends october 27
without words things that go bump in dark colours ends october 29
really reasonable ribbon halloween ends october 29
heck of a challenge ends october 30
thanks for popping by.
Mid Month Reminder Penny Black And More

my daughter asked me to make a thank you card for her vet who provided excellent care for one of her bunnies, pictured below; the little spotted bunny is recuperating from a tooth abscess. this is my mid month post for our animal magic theme at penny black and more; i inked up this penny black peek-a-bunny stamp, coloured with distress ink pads and popped the image panel on foam squares. there are some wonderful prizes and a chance to be a guest designer and remember – you can use any company stamp, just no digis. i’m also submitting this card to the cupcake craft – two’s company challenge. thanks for popping by.

Boo!

penny black posted four sketch challenges in celebration of world card making day, but i only had time to make one card for my daughter; i *had* to spend some time at my local stamp store for the occasion. i coloured with distress ink pads, popped the circles on foam tape and layered it up. i’m also submitting this to the card crafter’s circle and without words challenges. thanks for popping by.
Animal Magic At Penny Black And More

it’s the first sunday of the month and this is my DT card for the penny black and more challenge – our theme this month is animal magic, which explains how a mouse could trick or treat. i coloured with distress ink pads, cut him out and popped him with foam squares; i used coloured pencils on the bats and added flower soft to the broom. i’d love to see you play along – you can find the rest of the DT’s inspirational cards and all the rules on the blog. thanks for popping by.
Poinsettia Card For Papercraft Cafe

when i started designing my october DT card for papercraft cafe, my local stamp store, i thought that this new penny black winter magic stamp set was perfect for those 3″ x 3″ cards i love to make, but then i found the tuesday morning sketches blog. this little stamp can be the focal point of any size card; and, because of the sentiment, it still looks ok if you accidentally photograph the card upside down. (not shown, lol) i stamped the poinsettia twice on watercolour paper and just sponged with distress inks, cut some of the leaves away and layered it. thanks for popping by.
Trying Vintage

welcome to my new followers! i appreciate your taking an interest in what i do.
i’ve been playing along with magenta’s 20th anniversary monthly challenges all year and this month’s theme is vintage, which i keep saying i can’t do but it’s fun trying. i stamped the magenta flower twice, heat embossed it and sponged it a bit and layered it. i’ve had this memory box corner die for a while, but just couldn’t find a way to fit it onto a card until now and i’m glad i have it. the edges are all distressed and sponged and i added some lace, although i feel like i should’ve added more – can vintage be CAS?
i’m also submitting it to these challenges:
the brand new vintage stamping challenge sponsored by flonzcraft – anything goes ends October 31
sweet stampin’ – vintage ends October 5
card crafter’s circle – vintage ends October 4
thanks for popping by.
Pumpkin George

i created this card for the first Without Words challenge, which is an autumn theme this month. i love the cooler temperatures and rich colours of the fall season and pumpkins popping up everywhere, so i went with molly blooms’ pumpkin george stamp. i coloured with distress ink pads, sponged the edges of the kraft mat and popped it on with foam squares. thanks for popping by.
Another Early Christmas Make

this is my second DT card for this month’s Penny Black and More Challenge to create an early christmas project. i coloured the best day ever image with distress ink pads, sponged the edges and added stickles. i swiped an ink pad over the embossed panel, which ended up being a bit uneven, but i think it adds to the distressed style. one more card done; how about you – have you started making your christmas cards? if not, come and play!
i’m also playing along with these challenges:
cute card thursday – christmas in september
sparkle creations – animal prints
christmas crafting! – traditional christmas colours
pin and tack – anything goes
bunny zoes – distressing
thanks for popping by.
More Thank You Cards

i needed some more thank you cards, so i used the bobunny acorn stamp again, but this time i made a CAS card; actually i made eight of them since they’re all going to different people. instead of colouring with distress inks, i stamped on gold paper and punched the oak leaf out of orange paper and sponged the edges of both. thanks for popping by.
Thankful

when i dropped my DT store samples off at papercraft cafe, i found the bobunny apple cider collection and marie, the owner and enabler that she is, showed me the matching stamp set, which i had to have – i love the text and geometric designs. i coloured everything with distress inks, fussy cut the pumpkin and acorns and punched the tiny leaves from the bobunny forever fall collection. i’m submitting this to the bobunny challenge, a sketch by designer Juliana. thanks for popping by.
Home And Garden Show Sample

i haven’t had much time to play this week – i was out of town for two days and then had volunteer commitments. this is another sample i made for papercraft cafe for a ladies night event. i coloured with distress inks, added stickles to the centre and a bow. thanks for popping by.
Big Brother’s Birthday Wishes

this CAS card is going to my brother, who turns the big 60 this weekend. i masked the candle to add two more, coloured the images with distress inks and die cut the circles. thanks for popping by.
Penny Black And More September – Christmas Wish

this is my DT card for the September Penny Black and More Challenge – we’re getting ready for Christmas. i coloured this cute teddy with distress inks and used memory box dies: the jingle bells on blue glitter paper and the ticket. the sentiment is from the same stamp set. i’m submitting my card to the following challenges:
heck of a challenge – anything goes ends sept 30
no matter which challenges – die cuts and/or punches ends sept 30
the squirrel and the fox – one for the men ends sept 5
i’d love to see you play along – for inspiration, check out the other DT members’ beautiful Christmas creations at the blog here; there are some fabulous prizes to be won from sponsors Penny Black, Stampalot, Art of Craft, Pretty Little Ribbons. thanks for popping by.
Not A Morning Person

i love the facial expression of this image and it’s just so fun to colour; i used distress inks, added a punched eyelet border and sentiment and i’m submitting it to the art impressions ‘anything lacy’ blog challenge. thanks for popping by.
Dreaming Geraniums

i created this card because marie, the owner of my local stamp store, papercraft cafe, asked me to make some samples for a home and garden show that she’s participating in. i thought this cute penny black ‘dreaming geraniums’ would suit the occasion so i coloured with distress inks as usual, added yellow stickles to the flower centres and added a rafia strip to the bottom and threaded it through the button. the sketch is by the very talented Silke Ledlow, who is hosting this month at crazy 4 challenges. thanks for popping by.
Waiting For Snow

i’m always making christmas cards, although i make more than i actually need so i usually donate some to my local hospital. i coloured this older impression obsession snowman with distress inks and letraset aqua markers, die cut with the memory box snow globe and added a peel off sentiment, punched snowflakes and tiny bow. i’m submitting it to these challenges:
sandra’s rudolph day – the 25th of every month
jingle belles – holiday bingo and i used bling, stickers and ribbon
crafty ann’s – christmas in august
christmas stampin’ all year long – non traditional colours
challenge up your life – christmas in summer
thanks for popping by.
Summer Cycling
this oh so cute penny black ‘mimi’ stamp, a birthday gift from my friend anne, was so much fun to colour; as usual, i used distress inks to colour with and sponge the edges of everything. one of the two marianne design die cut flowers is popped on foam squares and a marianne design die cut tag is tucked in behind; the scallop border is a spellbinders die. i’m participating in these challenges:
marianne’s design divas – summer
everybody art challenge – summer
bunny zoe’s – summer
the crafty pad designs – to die for
stamptacular sunday – let’s hear it for the girls
thanks for popping by.
Inspired By Wedgwood

i have an aunt who loves snowmen as much as i do, so when i saw stephanie’s sketch at the jingle belles challenge i knew i’d be checking off one more card from my list this year. i coloured my favourite snowman with distress inks and sponged with blue because my aunt loves wedgwood china. i’m also submitting this card to these challenges:
creative inspirations paint – inspired by monochromatic with a chance to win 5 jars of their paint
stampin’ for the weekend – monochromatic theme with a prize of a Simon Says Stamps voucher of $25
samuel taylor’s blue and white christmas card – there’s a fantastic prize of goodies, including a Marianne Designs Sleigh die
thanks for popping by.
It’s Santa!

sometimes i struggle when i want to play along with a challenge and i have nothing that fits the theme, but not this time. the jingle belles want to see santa or anything else you’d find at the north pole; i had no santa stamps until i luckily won this flourishes santa image last year from one of their challenges. i’m also playing along with the flourishes timeless tuesday christmas in july and this is my second entry to sandra’s rudolph day challenge. the image is stamped in sepia archival ink and i used coloured pencils on the holly and berries with distress ink sponged onto santa’s face. thanks for popping by.
Poppies

brenda (floral fantasies) is having a fun candy challenge to make a card or project that has poppies on it, hints at the colour or idea of poppies or an has an image coloured in with the beautiful poppy colours. i’ve had this penny black poppies stamp for some time, but this is the first time i inked it up; it’s coloured with distress inks and letraset aqua markers with stickles in the flower centres and i used my new memory box butterflies die – i love it! i cased a layout in paper creations summer 2012 by the talented kendra sand. thanks for popping by.
Humming Along

this month’s flourishes bring back beautiful challenge is the beauty of winged things, so i used stamps from the ‘humming along’ set. everything is coloured with distress inks and cut out and then i shaped the hummingbird and popped it on foam tape. thanks for popping by.
Magenta On Vellum

i’ve been playing along with the magenta monthly challenges in celebration of their 20th year and the june challenge is to use the colours of their logo. i stamped this magenta image on blue vellum, heat embossed and coloured with distress inks, which is what i enjoy doing most when i create; even if it’s just a little bit while i’m waiting for my RA flareup to disappear, so i’m also submitting this to the stampalot challenge ‘what’s your crafty passion’ theme. i couldn’t get a photo to show the embossed detail, which looks so much better in real life. thanks for popping by.
Published Card In Designed To Color

i am excited to share that i am lucky to have another of my cards published in Designed To Color; this one is in the June/July 2012 issue, which i submitted to the masculine card category. this molly blooms image was coloured with distress inks. follow the link to check out the current challenge and call for the october/november issue. thanks for popping by.
Flourishes Triple Play

with my RA flaring, all i could do this week is rest; you’d think by now that i would accept the fact that i have limitations, but i’m too stubborn for my own good. anyway, now that i’m feeling a bit better and ready to play again, i made this CAS card for the flourishes noon time challenge – triple play! i coloured the tiny cherries from the flourishes ‘tiny flowers and tags’ set with distress inks and a very tiny brush; the images are matted three times, with three strings of floss and three gems and the sentiment is from the same set. this is a smaller card at 3.25 by 4.5 inches. thanks for popping by.
Neon Flowers

i chose the colour challenge for this month’s hero arts contest and used distress inks to ink up the stamp and then to colour the flowers; the image is popped on foam tape – a clean and simple card and very quick to make. thanks for popping by.
Penny Black And More Summer Blooms

this is my DT card for the July Penny Black and More Challenge; this month we want to see Summer Blooms. i used a new penny black stamp from a clear set called flowers sweet, coloured with distress ink pads and added some mottled dots with my paintbrush. the other DT members’ beautiful creations and the challenge rules are here; there are some fabulous prizes to be won from sponsors Penny Black, Stampalot, Addicted to Stamps plus a chance to have your card chosen to be in the spotlight. thanks for popping by.
In The Dog House

the current challenge at the paper and such design blog is to make a card featuring a snail or dog. i’ve made many snail cards, so this time i used a cute penny black dog stamp that was a gift from my friend, anne. everything is coloured with distress ink pads and the sentiment is inky antics. thanks for popping by.
Unique Snowflakes for Rudolph Day June 2012

sandra (stamping for pleasure) issued a real challenge for this month’s rudolph day (25th of every month); because it’s the 6th month, make 6 cards, tags, etc. since my cards are so easy and fun to make, i created a set of 8 and just like real snowflakes each one is unique. thanks for popping by.

Flourishes On My Desk

the flourishes timeless tuesday challenge this week was ‘from the desk.’ i usually create with other people in mind or causes that i donate my creations to, so i made something for myself this time – a post it note holder and a bookmark for my desk. i used distress ink pads to colour the sunflower and cut it out to place on the post it note holder, but i used coloured pencils for the bookmark. thanks for popping by.
In Loving Memory 2012

i made this card in memory of my son, who passed away june 18, 2009. i used the things he loved most about my cards – dew drops, ribbon and the less is more approach, which i’m also taking with my description today. thanks for popping by.
Guest Designer At Scrapbooker’s Paradise
i’m excited to be the guest designer this week at the playing in paradise challenge, which is to take your inspiration from this photo:

i used the colours and theme to create this card for my husband for father’s day. the shells were stamped, coloured with distress inks, cut and popped on foam tape. the sea is painted with distress inks, which was covered on the bottom with embossing powder and enamel. finally, i added some cheesecloth, twine and a flourishes sentiment and tag. you’ll want to check out the inspiring DT creations at the scrapbooker’s paradise blog and i hope you can play along. thanks for popping by.
Popped For Flourishes

the first flourishes noon time challenge in anticipation of their june release is to pop it! i stamped the berry image on watercolour paper twice to cut and pop the leaves on a foam square; everything is coloured with distress inks and the frame is also popped on foam tape. thanks for popping by.
Gimme Ten Flourishes Challenge

this is what i came up with for the flourishes gimme ten challenge; very challenging for me to create without colouring with distress inks. i used a sentiment from flourishes’ new hydrangeas set, sponged with distress inks, framed with a die cut and i used leftover bits for the small circles. thanks for popping by.
