Christmas Thank You

i’m playing along with the new impression obsession challenge theme of So Very Thankful!

i stamped some of the images in the IO christmas minis clear set (MC199) on kraft, used coloured pencils and a sentiment from the IO thanks sentiments set (CL41), and matted it onto a shimmer green cardstock.

i’m also playing along with these challenges:

As You Like It Challenge Monochrome Or Rainbow (&why): colours brighten my day and i love to use a colourful palette and mix my own custom paint colours.

Hugs For Hubby

while i’m caring for a loved one i don’t have much time to create but i did take a bit of a break to play.

IO lighthouse copyright linda snailzpace.com

the new Impression Obsession Challenge is Pop Up Your Words! i’ve coloured the IO New England Lighthouse (G1286) with coloured pencils and popped the IO hugs (DIE516-A) on tiny bits of foam tape. i used the IO happy anniversary die (DIE627-G) and hearts from the IO looped heart border die (DIE128-C) on the inside for my husband’s anniversary card.

My Happy Colours

the current impression obsession challenge is to use happy colours (whatever colours make you happy), which i thoroughly enjoyed; i even used a bit of orange.

impression obsession beach copyright linda snailzpace.com

i created a small easel card to fit on my desk featuring some new impression obsession products i purchased when i was lucky enough to win a $25.00 IO gift card just for playing along.

i used the sentiment and sun from the IO ‘signs of summer‘ (CL873) by Peggy Jo Ackley, and painted with tombow markers on hot pressed watercolour paper; i love the cool colour palette, but i tend to use brighter colours through the summer. i fussy cut the sun to pop it on foam tape and the IO beach chair and sandals (DIE190-C) were layered up five times to hold the card upright; the square panel measures 3 and 3/8 inches. to finish it off, i used the leftover bits from the chair to create my beach fence.

i’m also playing along with Simon Says Wednesday to use a Die and/or Punch.

Birthday Wishes

i need more masculine cards and the Impression Obsession challenge theme of I Sea You inspired me to create this card for my stash.

impression obsession birthday copyright linda snailzpace.com

i heat embossed the birthday from the IO Wishes (MC657) clear set on a piece of kaisercraft coastal escape paper; die cut the IO Wishes (DIE364-E) from blue shimmer paper and attached two other sections of paper from the same pad.

thanks for popping by.

Special Wishes

I mixed things up a bit and used alcohol inks on a masculine card.

IO birthday copyright linda snailzpace.com

i blended alcohol inks on a piece of an elizabeth craft designs shimmer sheetz, embossed it with the Sizzix Texture Fades Embossing Folder – Flourish and then sanded it to reveal the silver core. i cut it into squares and matted each with black glossy cardstock. i masked off part of the impression obsession sentiment and i finished the card off with some designer paper and gold mirri.

i’m playing along with the As You Like It challenge: Favourite type of embossing and why. I love to emboss and sand watercolour paper or shimmer sheetz to reveal some highlights of texture; i am much more successful with this than heat embossing.

Birthday Bookmark

i’m playing along with the impression obsession challenge foodie fun!

impression obsession food bookmark copyright linda snailzpace.com-1

i was going to mat this and attach to a narrow card base but as i was painting my husband asked who the bookmark was for. naturally, i said ok it’s done; quick and easy and perfect for when i’m short on time and energy.

the cakes image is from Celebrate (CL254), painted with twinkling H2Os and the sentiment is from More Basic Greetings (CL549).

Ducks In A Row

creating this card made me smile. the new impression obsession challenge is ‘send a little humour’ and i hope it makes the recipient smile too.

impression obsession ducks copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

impression obsession ducks inside copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

i created a z-fold card to feature the impression obsession darn ducks stamp (D17214) on the front panel, painted the sky, grass and water on cold pressed watercolour paper with twinkling H2Os, and also painted the IO duck set (DIE398-F) with twinks. to finish it off, i stamped a sentiment from the IO more basic greetings (CL549), which might be retired since i couldn’t find a link.

i’m also playing along with:

Sea Sponge Stamping

i created a second card for the Impression Obsession Challenge – All That Glitters!

the very talented pam at expressions with heart used a stamp shammy with distress ink blending technique that reminded me of how much fun colouring with a sea sponge is or as i call it, sea sponge stamping.impression obsession umbrella glitter copyright linda snailzpace.worpdress.com

i ‘stamped’ salty ocean distress ink onto 140 lb. cold pressed watercolour paper, die cut the Impression Obsession umbrella (DIE049-A) three times and covered with glitter, which rarely shows on camera. i took another photo of the umbrellas in the sun just to show the sparkle. using the same sea sponge, i stamped mustard seed distress ink on CP w/c paper to create the background. finally, i stamped the Impression Obsession sentiment (B5536).

All That Glitters!

i’m playing along with the new Impression Obsession Challenge – All That Glitters! and now i have glitter everywhere!

impression obsession ornaments glitter copyright linda snailzpace.worpdress.com

i die cut three of the impression obsession ornaments (DIE476-Y) twice, once from gold mirri for the bows and again with designer paper and adhesive paper that i covered in crystal glitter ritz; i did the same to the strip of paper on the bottom using scor-pal tape. everything was attached to burgundy suede paper that i took a sticky roller to and i still couldn’t remove from all of it. oh well, it adds to the shimmer.

i’m also playing along with maureen’s rudolph days challenge since it’s my month off as a design team member.

Bunny Border

i created a second card for the impression obsession challenge theme of pink and green but this time i’ve used the adorable new bunny border die (IO DIE664-T).

i die cut the bunnies with 140 lb. cold pressed watercolour paper, painted green and pink washes with twinkling H2Os, and used some leftover hydrangea petals (IO DIE044-Y) with pink stickles in the centre.

i’m also playing along with these challenges:

Pink Hydrangeas

welcome to some new followers! thank you for joining me on my creative journey!

i’m playing along with the impression obsession challenge theme of pink and green – one of my favourite colour combinations.

IO hydrangea copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

after the hydrangea (IO DIE044-Y) was die cut with 140 lb. cold pressed watercolour paper, i painted the leaves with twinkling H2Os, used the small end of a creative expressions mini smoothie (reviewed here) to colour the petals with distress ink and added pink stickles to the centres. i stamped the sentiment (IO CL465) and splattered the same pink twink onto watercolour paper and attached it to a green base.

IO hydrangea 2 copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

for the second card i sponged the edges of the petals with distress ink and added stickles to the centres as well.

Spring Wishes

i’m playing along with the Impression Obsession challenge and the Pick a Holiday (any holiday!) theme.

impression obsession wishes die copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

maybe spring isn’t a holiday, but it should be! what better way to celebrate the end of all that snow, cold temperatures and dreary skies. one of the IO design team members used a spring card, so i thought it was ok to use the spring wishes sentiment. i started this card by painting the sky and grass with twinkling H2Os and painted the chicks and eggs; each is an individual stamp (Sarah Phelps CL212). i finished it off by stamping the spring (MC657) and painting the die cut wishes (DIE364-E).

i’m also playing along with these challenges:

You Come To Mind

if you follow me, you know my shoulder has been sore; it needs to be replaced but i’m putting that off for as long as i can because of the rehab time. creating and computer use are limited but when i saw the impression obsession challenge theme was clean and simple, i thought i could manage it and i did.

IO verse copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com

i sponged distress inks onto cold press watercolour paper, spritzed, stamped the IO sentiment, you come to mind (D9772) and attached it to a white card base measuring 3.5 by 5 inches.

i’m also playing along with the just add ink challenge #399 theme of just add water.

Warm Wishes

well i’m off to a slow start this year aren’t i?! and i’m sneaking this card in just before the deadline.

impression obsession warm wishes copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com

the impression obsession challenge ‘shiny new year’ inspired me to start creating some QAE (quick and easy) cards that don’t require a lot of painting, which i love, but i also need to build up my stash; not a new year’s resolution, just a goal.

i stamped the sentiment from the IO wishes clear stamp set on some designer paper, used teal foil paper for the wishes die and added a die cut heart from the IO birdhouse die set to make this notecard.

Guest Designing At Stamping Sensations

i was so excited to have won the Stamping Sensations Challenge for November and receive an invitation to be a guest designer this month.

winter friends.copyright linda.snailzpace.wordpress.com-2

i couldn’t have wished for a better theme – cold and frosty colours of blues, purples, silver and white. since i LOVE the cool colour palette, i got a bit carried away and made two cards, both painted with twinkling H2Os, using four different blues and one purple.

the first card features an older Marianne Design Stamp, Snoesjes Freezing Cold and the second is a Magenta ‘Snow Bird‘ with an Impression Obsession sentiment.

here is the prize on offer from sizzix. to play along, just be sure your card’s focal point is hand stamped. for all the rules and to see what the design team has created, click here to visit the blog.

Candy Cane Treat

I wanted a festive way to present a candy cane so I came up with this:

impression obsession holly.copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

i stamped the IO holly leaves (retired) and sentiment from the IO Christmas Minis (MC199) clear stamp with versafine olympia green ink, coloured with watercolour pencils and added red stickles to the berries.

i’m playing along with the Impression Obsession ‘Tis The Season Challenge to create holiday projects, the Winter Wonderland Challenge to use Traditional Christmas Colors of Red and Green and the last Rudolph Days Challenge for 2017.

Christmas Chickadee

i’m rushing now to complete my holiday to do list since a number of doctor appointments are interfering with my creative play time.

impression obsession chickadee.copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com-1

i’ve had this beautiful IO Holly Chickadee (E7024) for eight years now and don’t use it as often as i should. it really is quick and easy to colour; this time i coloured with watercolour pencils and stamped the IO Enjoy the Splendour (D6165) in black ink. a perfectly flat card to mail.

i’m playing along with the Impression Obsession ‘Tis The Season Challenge to create holiday projects and also these challenges:

Christmas Tree Notecard

i’m playing along with the Impression Obsession ‘Tis The Season Challenge to create holiday projects and i’ve been working on plenty of those.
impression obsession trees.copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com

this is a notecard made with the IO Christmas Minis (MC199) clear stamp set; i bought it for 50% so maybe it’s retired because i couldn’t find a link to the IO shop. i coloured with watercolour pencils, added red and yellow stickles and covered the trees with clear wink of stella.

i’m also playing along with these christmas themed challenges:

Autumn Leaves

our trees are almost bare but just like some of the leaves i’m hanging on to my favourite season so i really enjoyed creating this card. besides, i need a break from mass producing christmas items.

IO leaves.linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com

the IO maple leaves (DIE030-S) were cut, painted with twinkling H2Os and attached in a circle to paper that i swiped with distress inks to create the look of woodgrain. i cut the thanks from the IO greetings set (DIE174-W) five times in dark brown and attached it.

i created this invitation for the Impression Obsession challenge and their ‘you’re invited’ theme.

i painted the background and image from the IO when life clear set with twinkling H2Os, stamped the sentiment from the IO Invitations/announcements clear set, and stamped the cobwebs, also from the when life set, around the border.

Trick Or Treat Tags

i’m playing along with the Impression Obsession challenge and its ‘harvest hellos’ theme where they would like to see Fall or Halloween (or even those colors) projects.

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com. impression obsession trick or treat-1

i die cut the IO Trick or Treat Die (DIE342-A) to create these tags, using both the negative cuts and the positive. the backgrounds were made with distress inks and splattered with black twinkling H2Os – quick, easy and fun.

i’m also playing along with Scrapy Land Challenges #73 Anything with a Die and they also carry the IO die.

Silly Squirrels

i’m playing along with the Impression Obsession challenge and its ‘so very thankful’ theme.

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com. impression obsession squirrels

i used the IO Dies: leafy branch DIE055-N (pretend it’s a tree), and squirrel set DIE213-D and painted everything with twinkling H2Os. the squirrels and acorns are popped on foam tape and the sentiment is from the More Basic Greetings CL549 clear set. i attached the watercolour paper panel to an A2 card base and this card goes to my husband.

we have these silly squirrels racing around our back yard to find hiding spots for food only i’m not sure they’re the same squirrels that find it.

i’m also submitting this card to Simon Says Stamp, where Anything Goes and Shopping Our Stash #318 Your Favorite Season – mine is fall for the cooler temperatures, the colours, hot chocolate and baking comfort food. :)

IO Sailboats and IO Sale

i’m playing along with  the Impression Obsession challenge and this was a tough one for me: orange and turquoise. wow. after a couple of failed attempts, i managed to complete a card.

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com IO sailboats

i painted washes with orange and turquoise twinkling H2Os, cut and painted the IO sailboats and stamped the IO take time sentiment.

i was happy to have won the gift certificate from the last challenge and i found some fabulous sentiment sets in the 50% clearance sale; it’s worth checking out.

Painted Poinsettia

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com IO poinsettia

i used one of my favourite poinsettia stamps for the christmas in july theme for the Impression Obsession challenge : i love this IO Poinsettia (H8301) because it’s so open and i paired it with a new IO sentiment stamp Warmest Wishes (D14682).

the image was stamped three times, painted with twinkling h2os, fussy cut and attached to a splattered background, sponged with distress inks; to finish it off i added some nuvo crystal drops.

April Showers

Love Never Melts

i’m still progressing with my new knee, which has to be a priority, although spending almost three hours daily on rehab doesn’t leave me a lot of time to create.

copyright linda@snailzpace.wordpress.com impression obsession love snow couple

so i really enjoyed losing myself in painting this sweet image from impression obsession: Eskimo Kisses F6884 for the impression obsession challenge – love is in the air! i watercoloured the image with twinkling H2Os, created the background with magenta nuance powders and added stickles to the hats and the snow heart.

A Wish For Peace

every year i make a set of cards for my dad to send out; sometimes he’s specific about what he’d like and this year it was a peace sentiment so he was quite pleased.

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com peace-1

i kept it clean and simple for mass production; i covered the card base with designer paper, die cut the ornaments, and hubby stencilled the snowflakes with distress inks while i die cut and layered the impression obsession peace.

i’ll be taking a bit of a break due to surgery but the minute i’m able to, i’ll be back to my craft table to create.

wishing you a peaceful holiday season and a happy 2017!

thanks for popping by and for all your support and kind words.

Merry Gingerbreads

the jingle belles prompt is ‘BLING on the Holidays’ and i have bling, just no mojo so i cased my trees card and used different coloured glitter papers.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.jinglebelles

i used the same design as my other card, the same wplus9 merry die and these little guys are also part of the same IO die set. instead of colouring my background, i added some red and clear stickles to the designer paper (free in a magazine), matted it onto shimmer paper and then glitter paper. i used the inlaid die technique with these tiny gingerbreads – time consuming but i like how it looks like white icing so all that frustration effort was worth it. i might even make a set of cards with this design.

Christmas Trees

how’s this for cutting it close? i have under four hours to get this posted to the Jingle Belles christmas card challenge where the theme is oh christmas tree; rushed for time, i made a quick and easy CAS card.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.christmastrees

i saw this cute tree die on one of jingle belle stephanie’s fun cards in november so when i saw the impression obsession die set at my local stamp store in december, and it was 30% off, i quickly added it to my basket. you might recognize the merry sentiment that i’ve used quite a bit; it’s a Wplus9 die and everything was cut from green glitter paper. the background was created with distress inks on 140 lb. cold press watercolour paper.

and here’s my card:

i used a sizzix die to create my window and frame and the only stamping on this card is the impression obsession sentiment. i watercoloured clear resist watercolour paper with twinkling H2Os and attached the panel with foam tape.

be sure to visit the blog for other tutorials throughout the month and some more inspiration by the rest of the design team.

Hop To Stop Card

hop to stop badge

i made this card to join Becca Cruger’s Hop To Stop – a campaign to raise awareness about domestic violence, an issue affecting 33% of women. but, as Becca points out, “women aren’t the only people who are affected! Women, men, transgender – gender doesn’t matter. Domestic violence is something that exists regardless of gender, socioeconomic status, religion, education level, etc.”
