Pink Daisy Treat Box

this cardstock is very bright pink, which i love, but i think it looks more intense in the photo.

MFT daisy box copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com

i used my scor pal and followed the tutorial at pootles’ blog to create this little 2 inch box; the challenge is to find tiny treats to fit inside – maybe a couple of chocolate kisses. i sponged the my favorite things daisy with picked raspberry distress ink, using a creative expressions ‘mini smoothies’ blending sponge, and added flower soft to the centre; the box closes with a magnet.

i’m playing along with these challenges:

Get Ready For Christmas at Penny Black And More

it’s never too early to get ready for christmas and that’s what we’re doing this month at the penny black and more challenge.

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com penny black xmas snail-1

this is an older penny black stamp called 2993F xmas snail that i’ve painted with twinkling H2Os, mixing paint colours to coordinate with the paper and added flower soft to the hat.

you can use any company’s stamp for your focal point, as long as it’s hand stamped – just no digis please; a future guest designer will be selected from those who use a PB image and as always, you’ll love the prizes to be won from: Penny Black, Swedish House Crafts and Rare Earth.

visit the blog for some creative inspiration by my teamies.

i’m also submitting this to the penny black Holiday Head Start Challenge.

Spirit Bear-ing Gift

it took me a while to come up with an idea for this month’s Essentials by Ellen Pin-Sights Challenge  these are the inspiration photos:

http://ellenhutson.typepad.com/the_classroom_new/2016/09/essentials-by-ellen-september-pin-sights-challenge.html

linda.snailzpace.wordpress.com pinsights sept2016

since i struggle with shabby chic, i found elements that inspired me: the stone wall, the wrapped gift and the blue/white colour combos. i painted the stones freehand with twinkling H2Os, and also used them to paint the bear, grass and gift. i masked the bear to add the gift, popped him with foam tape and layered him between the die cut grass hills.

fun fact: the spirit bear is actually a black bear but is white.

Fall Fun Bunny

i couldn’t resist using this adorable bunny image again but this time it’s a card inspired by the my favorite things colour and sketch challenges and a request for a fall bunny card.

mft_colorchallenge_paintbook_54299

MFT sketch 299

i watercoloured the sky, bunny and punched leaves with twinkling H2Os and used the larger circle in the MFT Blueprints 16 to create the frame. i cut a mound for the pile of leaves, covered it with some gourd-jus prills and sponged distress inks for the orange and green layers. i finished it off with a ‘cool day’ sentiment that was die cut with a Blueprints 29 banner and i added a pom pom for the tail.

Bunny Burrow

i had a lot of fun creating this second card for the My Favorite Things Card Design Superstar Contest – 2016 and it was quite challenging to execute the idea i came up with.

if you know me, you know i was introduced to bunnies when my daughter rescued one and then another of these adorable animals so this card was created with them in mind; bunnies share a special bond that sometimes can take time to develop but then they’re inseparable and even more cute.

i die cut MFT stitched snow drifts from kraft to create the burrow scene and to add the stitching lines in between the stitched circles, die cut with MFT Blueprints 12; i haphazardly sponged brushed corduroy distress ink and used green glitter foam cut with the MFT fresh cut grass die for the border.

the bunnies were stamped with grey ink and i painted the sky, clouds and bunnies with twinkling H2Os and added white flocking to the tail.

XO

i’m playing along with the My Favorite Things Card Design Superstar Contest – 2016 because i love being challenged to step outside of my comfort zone, even though i initially stare at a blank card and my mind is equally blank.

linda snailzpace.wordpress.com MFT XO

i started with the background; i used a piece of 140 lb. cold press watercolour paper that soaked up a leftover puddle from ken oliver sepia colour burst so it was very diluted and pink. i splattered with pink twinkling H2Os and die cut the stitched rectangle from MFT Blueprints 29.

the X and O, die cut with the small circle and sentiment strip from MFT Blueprints 16, were painted with twinkling H2Os and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder until they looked lacquered. the MFT Blueprints 29 banner and heart circles were die cut eight times from background scraps and double sided adhesive paper so they could each be layered twice and glittered on top.

to finish the card, i painted the MFT Blueprints 16 die cut rectangle with the same twinkling H2Os.

Cork Board Reminder

i created this little cork board reminder for someone special who needed a gentle reminder to keep going regardless of how long it takes.

magenta cork board reminder snailzpace.wordpress.com

the sentiment is a magenta stamp i purchased when i won a gift certificate to the store and, for the first time, i used the magenta nuance powders to create the background. so much fun! the pom pom ribbon was also purchased with a gift certificate i won for the ribbon girl.

i think i’ll make myself one of these for those times when i need to create more slowly because of my health issues. thanks for popping by.

Wild Rose

i ordered this beautiful Magenta Wild Rose stamp when it was released this spring but it’s been waiting for me to watercolour; being the caregiver of a family member and my own health issues has meant i create when i can and i really appreciate when i get to do so.

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com magenta wild rose

i enjoyed losing myself in watercolouring with twinkling H2Os and matted the image since i didn’t feel like it needed anything else; clean and simple.

i’d like to enter this card into these challenges:

Absolutely Fabulous

i wanted to send a thank you card to one of the exceptional nurses who cared for me during my recent hospital stay so i used the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge – Sketch 283:

283

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com MFT fabulous

i flipped it horizontally so i could use some new MFT dies and it came together quickly: the arch from Die-namics Blueprints 16 and the new absolutely fabulous die-namics. the pretty pink paper is from memory box and i added some die cut stars. thanks for popping by.  #mftstamps

Stay Warm

i’m playing along with two of My Favorite Things Challenges: the Wednesday Sketch #268 and the Colour #39.

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_39
268

i watercoloured this adorable bear with twinkling H2Os and gave her a bright pink scarf and hat and, as usual, i literally followed the sketch so it came together quickly. i added one of the sentiments from the same stamp set and a MFT snowflake.

thanks for popping by.

Bloom And Be Happy

i had so much fun painting stripes on my card for last week’s My Favorite Things sketch challenge that i used the same technique on this week’s submission for both their sketch challenge 263 and colour challenge.263

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_37

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.jan17.2016

i mixed my own colours from twinkling H2Os to paint the stripes; unlike other watercolour paints, mixing colours with twinkling H2Os is a challenge because the shimmery mica added might interfere with the result you’re trying to create – but i love mixing colours anyway. after embossing the background, i sanded to reveal more white and painted the mat border.

the MFT die-namics blueprints 12 set was used for all the die cuts which were painted with twinkling H2O washes and i used a sentiment from the sunflower sweetheart stamp set.

i’m also submitting this to the simon says stamp ombre challenge.

thanks for popping by.

Bag Of Tags

wishing you happy holidays and a happy, healthy and peaceful 2016.

i’m sharing a project that i designed for Buddly Crafts using some of the smaller images in the Toby Tumble & Robins clear set along with the Jolly Santa set.

i used a pre-made treat bag and decorated it and the tags with watercoloured images using twinkling H2Os and added some white flocking to santa’s bear.

12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Day 9

this is my tag i created for day 9 of the Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge and it’s another fun sketch; once again, i literally followed it.

6a00d83451614969e201bb08971080970d-320wi-2

i love both designers’ tag shapes, but i was inspired by Heather Campbell’s use of designer paper for the background.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com twelve tags feminine twist day 9.2015-1

i created the sky with distress inks, die cut the marianne design tree and the my favorite things die-namics snow drifts from white glitter paper and popped the tree on foam tape.

12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Day 8

my RA symptoms are a bit exacerbated today, so i only got one tag made for day 8 of the Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge and this one was really challenging.

6a00d83451614969e201bb08971156970d-320wi

i was inspired by day 8 designer jill foster and her cute penny black image, colour palette and all the dimension.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com twelve tags feminine twist day 8.2015-1

i watercoloured this adorable snowman (snow woman?) with twinkling H2Os in pink, yellow, orange, purple, blue, grey and some burgundy for the heirloom carrot nose. i embossed the kraft paper with a cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder and lightly applied white ink; the image was die cut with a my favorite things stitched circle die and popped on foam tape. pink and clear stickles were added and i coloured a gold peel off sticker sentiment with permanent markers to make it orange. to finish it off, i added two ribbons. this is going to my daughter because she loves silly snowmen too.

thanks for popping by.

12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Day 1

i love making tags so i’m playing along with ellen hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge. last year was the first time i joined in and only managed to create a couple; i’m not sure how many i’ll get made this year, but it’s fun getting lost in the creative zone.

6a00d83451614969e201bb089780aa970d

i was inspired by both designers’ tags for Day 1; i liked the bright pink and trees Carolyn Peeler used and the larger die cut sentiment on Stephanie Wincott’s.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com twelve tags feminine twist day 1-1

i created the background with distress ink, die cut everything with glitter paper, layered the snow drifts and trees and added some snow and ribbons. thanks for popping by.

penny black and more strawberry mice

i watercoloured this sweet image from the Penny Black homemade clear set with distress ink pads and twinkling H2Os. i used a couple of die cuts on this card: the Marianne Design button flower, cut with chipboard and white card stock; My Favorite Things Die-namics banners; nestabilities squares for the image and mat and i used an EK Success eyelet punch for the borders. i created the tablecloth with a stencil and a paintbrush.

i’d like to submit this card to these challenges:

Peaceful Holiday Wishes

wishing you i’ve missed playing along with some of my favourite christmas card challenges, but thanks to my favorite things die-namics blueprints sketches, this one didn’t take much time, something i don’t seem to have enough of lately. the jingle belles are celebrating PEACE …incorporate a Peace Symbol or the word PEACE into your design … or you can create a card that evokes Peace for you and these soft and muted colours do that for me; the sentiment is computer generated. i did a lot of sponging and added stickles to the flower centres. sandra’s rudolph day challenge is to create two or more holiday cards so the photo below shows the two together. i’d also like to submit this card to one crazy stamper – anything goes and an embellishment. thanks for popping by.

wishing you two

whew, such a busy week – it was so nice to be able to sit and create this christmas card that i’m giving to my daughter to add to her stash; besides, during this heat wave, snow sounds good to me. i coloured the snowman with twinkling H2Os and distress inks, added stickled snowflakes and followed the your next stamp july sketch challenge.

Christmas Cards All Year Round – Guest Designer

i’d like to thank tracey for inviting me to be a guest designer this month at the christmas cards all year round challenge. for this month’s theme of sparkle and bling, i created three cards with glitter, although it doesn’t show as well in daylight. this first card is 3 x 6 and i die cut the ornaments from glitter paper and changed the colour of holographic peel offs with a permanent marker; the base is copper shimmer card stock.

christmas card in pink with three glittery ornaments and merry christmas sentiment

i added stickles to the edge of the top die cut layer, the leaves and poinsettia. the base is also cut with shimmer card stock.

tag with poinsettia and leaves in burgundy, green, beige and glitter with a burgundy bow

i used stickles again on this card for santa’s coat and hat trim, the snow in the image, the die cut snowflakes and even the bunny tails; everything is coloured with distress ink pads and a brush.

Reindeer Pup

christmas card with penny black rudolph pup
this is my entry for my friend sandra’s rudolph day challenge to create christmas cards on the 25th of every month and i’m playing along with the my favorite things sketch challenge for the first time. i coloured with a paintbrush and distress ink pads and used MFT die-namics snowflakes. i’m also submitting this to the new word play saturday. thanks for popping by.
