You Warm My Heart

i was inspired by this lawnscaping challenge winter themed mood board to play along with my new craft supplies:

97

here’s my tag:

lawn fawn warm my heart

i created the background by sponging and stencilling with distress inks and spritzing with mr. huey’s shine mist.  the heart and bunnies were die cut and coloured with twinkling H2Os and i added stickles to the tails, heart and snow drifts and stamped the sentiment. i fussy cut the trees and sponged the edges with distress inks.

the seam binding and string are new too so i’m submitting this to the really reasonable ribbon challenge #109: Looky What I Got with Ribbon or Trim Theme.

i’m also playing along with the jingle belles’ ‘wrap it up’ prompt to create with wrapping paper or tags.

thanks for popping by.

Jingle Bell Fun

i found time to create another tag for Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2014 Challenge! i was inspired by Jill Foster’s Day 7 tag; her penny black images are always so colourful and vivid regardless of the medium she uses, but she used watercolour pencils on her tag. i painted this penny black image with: Albrecht Durer watercolour pencils, sennelier watercolour paints and my twinkling H20s. DSC01672 i’d also like to submit this to these challenges:

Christmas Treat Boxes

i used my scor-pal to create these triangle boxes for the scor-pal august challenge: “more than one score” – food for thought. these are so quick to make and the size can be easily changed to fit any treat; these will hold a small amount of hershey kisses. i just added stamped and matted sentiments and ribbon.

Easel Card Calendar

easel calendar card

you might remember that i won daniela’s blog candy (stempelbavaria) in february and these mini calendars were included. my creativity schedule usually depends on my RA, but i was voluntold to be on a committee with a very aggressive project timeline until the end of june so my fun time is limited and i apologize for not keeping up with my commenting. i did finally manage to create an easel card calendar and i don’t think the recipient will mind that it’s april already. i die cut the tiny green memory box birds to put at the top and stamped the thanks from the impression obsession hydrangea set on the tab from MFT die-namics blueprints 9.

i’d like to submit this to these challenges:
loves rubberstamps – challenge #100 fancy folds
papercrafting journey  easel card
a little bit crafty – the birds and the bees
crafty hazelnut’s patterned paper – anything goes
crafty sentiments design – fancy folds
craft your passion challenges – pretty pastels

Easter Bunny

cheery lynn bunny

making a tent card has been on my ‘must try this’ list for some time and i finally got around to making one; i followed beate’s tutorial and liked her window card so much that i borrowed that idea too. i’m submitting this to the cheery lynn designs challenge for their anything goes theme this week since i used two cheery lynn designs dies: the nesting egg dies and grass border. i added some pink to the bunny’s ears, a black dot for his eye and a white pom pom to his tail.

i’m also playing along with simply create too #59 no digis or stamped images.

every year i mention how bunnies should not be purchased for easter unless someone is willing to make a ten year commitment, so it’s time for another round of awareness with easter approaching.

Sweet Wishes

welcome to some new followers; i appreciate your interest!

this week’s simon says stamp challenge theme is tag it! i love how my team mate ellie stitches on her cards, but sewing is another hobby i gave up because of my RA so i’ve invested in some stitched dies. i used a paper smooches die to create this tag with bits of kaisercraft papers, added stickles to the dots on the cupcake and pearls to the punched flower and cupcake on the front:

sweetwishesfront

i added stickles to the flowers on the back, punched and attached a pink flower and stamped the penny black ‘sweet wishes’ sentiment.

i’m also submitting this tag to  these challenges:
Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge theme of anything goes

Holiday Planner

i finally made a holiday planner and it didn’t take as long as i thought it would. i created this one from a red file folder for my daughter for christmas in her favourite colours and designs and i found some alphabet stickers in my stash that were just the right size and colour. i downloaded and printed the ‘pocket planner pages’ from organized christmas, but they also have full size binder sheets and there are several links to different planners.

now i have to make one for myself.

i’d like to submit this to these challenges:

one crazy stamper – winter/holiday

heck of a challenge – colourful christmas

Penny Black And More Mid Month – November

this is my mid-november design team creation for the penny black and more challenge theme of anything goes!

i watercoloured this tiny mouse image from the penny black jolly friends clear set (30-058) with distress inks and added some snow dots and stickles on the pom pom. there are some fabulous prizes and remember that to be eligible, your focal point has to be a stamped image and it can be any company’s stamped image, just no digis.

i also made this for the current jingle belles prompt by guest star and regular participant Marie Bingaman, who suggested family holiday traditions which, for marie, changed after the passing of her grandfather and then her father. christmas, like many other holidays, is more painful without a loved one and many families no longer participate in traditions or they create new ones. when my son passed away four years ago, everything changed and i had to force myself to accept the ‘new normal.’ our christmas is now a scaled down version so my tiny tag was inspired by the tiny tree, tiny ornaments and much smaller dinner.

since i used a tag from the cheery lynn designs (B261) which measures about 1 and 1/2″ tall, i’m also submitting this to the cheery lynn designs challenge blog.

All About The Dies

kraft paper bookmark with fall striped paper, a teal maple leaf die cut and edged with gold shimmer paint
impression obsession
had a blog hop last week featuring their dies and i was lucky enough to be a random winner of three dies of my choice, which was tough after visiting the designers’ blogs – there are so many enablers out there. :)

anyway, i made this for the current ‘all about the dies’ IO challenge.  i probably would’ve coloured this leaf from the IO leaf die set (DIE030-S) with distress inks, and i actually have a pile die cut and ready to do that for fall, but i was inspired by daniela dobson’s card and her designer paper leaves. after die cutting my teal leaf, the edges were painted with twinkling H2Os and sponged with distress ink (just had to get inky with them). i stamped the bookmark with IO take time (D5512), created a pocket for it and attached the leaf to the striped paper. thanks for popping by.

Favourite Colours

card with tag, pearls and a flower in pink and green
i finished this card just in time for today’s deadline at the marianne’s design divas challenge to use your favourite colours; i used pink and green to create this QAE (quick and easy) card. the little flower is part of the tag die set and i sponged the edges, added some pearls and popped it up on foam tape. i’m also submitting this to the paperminutes challenge to use a tag, cupcake craft challenge to use a sentiment as the main focus and natalie and amy’s challenge to use diecuts. thanks for popping by.

Valentine Tag

valentinetag
this tag is the result of getting inky yesterday; my fingers were purple from distress inks. i wanted to play along with the Ranger Ink february inspiration photo so i used all the palette colours; i stamped and sponged with distress inks in red, pink and purple plus dotted some brushed pewter distress stain and finally, cut the heart, covered it in stickles and popped it on foam squares. all stamps are from penny black’s ‘clearly in love‘ set. thanks for popping by.

Candy Canes For A Cause

box of red and green candy canes with gold snowflakes
i’ve been keeping busy, just not with cards this time. i die cut gold snowflakes to dress up sixty candy canes to donate to an outpatient mental health clinic; the clients are an often overlooked population and the staff are so appreciative – they love playing santa. last year i coloured and attached snowmen, so i wanted to do something different this year.  i’m submitting this to these challenges: tuesday alchemy, anything but a card and the paper players. happy holidays and as always, thanks for popping by.

Twenty Embellishments – It Is Possible

magenta holly tag
welcome to my new followers; thanks for taking an interest in what i create.

i’ve been playing along with magenta’s 20th anniversary monthly challenges this year; some of them have been quite challenging and this month is one of those – make a creation with twenty embellishments. it took me a while to come up with an idea, but i used 20 seed beads on the magenta holly image that i coloured with coloured pencils. i followed this tutorial on the magenta blog to make this bottle tag.

i’m also submitting it to these challenges:
jingle belles – anything (holidays) goes ends dec 21
holly jolly christmas – vintage christmas ends dec 23
unique crafters – all about christmas ends dec 31
sweet stampin’ christmas – anything goes ends jan 6

Reindeer Christmas Tag

christmas tag with reindeer and snowflakes in the background in blues, green and rust colours
the november bo bunny challenge is to create a tag; i sure have made a lot of tags lately but they’re so much fun. for this challenge, i spent hours stamping, embossing, distressing and then tossing everything. i went on a hunt for papers to start over with and i found this reindeer in the bo bunny blitzen paper pad. i added a red pearl and stickles to the greenery so in the end it was a ten minute project and my third entry to sandra’s rudolph day challenge. thanks for popping by.

A Jar Of Gingerbreads

tag in red, green and brown with jar of gingerbread cookies, a season's greetings sentiment with a red check bow at the top with a white snowflake sponged brown on the edges and red gem in the middle
welcome to my new followers! thank you for taking an interest in my creations.

i made this tag with materials created by Clare from the Molly Blooms Christmas Carnival magazine and Card Making Kit that i was lucky to have won recently; the image is coloured with distress inks and layered up with papers and ribbon from the kit. i sponged the edges and added a ‘my favorite things’ die cut snowflake and dew drop. i thought the gingerbread cookies suited the last jingle belles prompt for this year (already?!), which is ‘christmas feast’.

i’m also submitting this to these challenges:
really reasonable ribbon – anything but a card ends november 28
stamping sensations – traditional christmas ends november 28
addicted to stamps – tags ends november 24
pan pastel – red and green ends november 23
whimsy stamps inspirations challenge – traditional christmas colouring ends december 1

thanks for popping by.

Basic Shapes

christmas card in blue, green and white with white and blue poinsettia and glitter
i made this shaped card for my dad; i’m very lucky not to be constrained by the stereotypical masculine cards because the men that i create for like anything i make, including items with ribbon and glitter on them. i’m submitting this to the anything goes theme at the basic grey challenge, the shaped card theme at marianne’s design divas and the shaped theme at christmas cards all year ’round. thanks for popping by and thank you to linda duke for the inspiration.

An Easy Christmas Tag

very easy christmas tag in green and red with merry christmas sentiment
i made what i’m calling a QAE (quick and easy) tag for sandra’s rudolph day challenge to create christmas cards on the 25th of every month. CAS refers to the layout, but it’s not always QAE if you spend a lot of time colouring images like i normally do. this time, i just stamped the sentiment on a pre-made tag from echo park, layered it up, rounded the corners and added a ribbon. thanks for popping by.

Triangle Treat Boxes

i love making triangle treat boxes – they’re so quick and easy and perfect for any occasion! i was quite surprised to see some i made mentioned on the inky antics blog here on tuesday – look at the variety crafters made! there’s another one posted today- check out this adorable graduation treat box here. inky antics has a triangle box template stamp and clear stamp sets to match; if you need any more incentive to visit, there’s an inky antics blog hop featuring action wobbles – fun and interactive! thanks for popping by.

Birthday Tag

penny black sentiment stamp it's your special day on tag in purple and blue
welcome to my new followers! i’ve been so busy with appointments and paperwork (not the fun kind) that i haven’t had much time to create or hop around in blog land and comment. out of desperation to play, i took time out to put together this very simple tag to submit to the stampalot challenge, which is celebrating two years. thanks for popping by and i hope to get caught up next week.

Hoppy Holidays

christmas tag featuring frog with red and green trim
hoppy holidays seems like an appropriate greeting for everyone; it’s better than my bah humbug, right? i’ve had this cute penny black frog for almost two years; i coloured him with aquamarkers and distress inks, added flower soft to the hat and stickles for snow. i’m submitting it to the following challenges:
penny black saturday – make a tag
one crazy stamper – christmas/holiday
flower soft – happy holidays
crimbo crackers – snowflakes
oldie but goodie – christmas animals

thanks for popping by.

Hedgie Tote

red tote bag with hedgie carrying a christmas tree image on the front
i’ve been enjoying creating these quick and easy totes.  the image is watercoloured with distress inks as usual; i added glossy accents to the star and some seed beads to the tree. thanks for popping by.

i’m submitting this to the following challenges:
penny black saturday – green and trees
penny black & more at allsorts – all creatures great and small
winter wonderland – awwwwwwwww what a cutie; use any cute Christmas Image
wags ‘n whiskers –  christmas themed

New Home Tag

square scalloped card featuring birdhouse hanging from a branch with two blue birds
i created this tag for this month’s paperlane challenge to use glitz and sparkle. the red heart is covered in red stickles and the dots with yellow stickles; everything is watercoloured with distress inks as usual and i cut out and popped the birdhouse and birds. thanks for popping by.

Have You Met Mr. Snow?

snowman gift tag with green ribbon and striped paper framehe’s one of the new molly blooms’ holiday images that i watercoloured with distress inks for the paperlane challenge to create anything but a card.
back of snowman gift tag with a gift for you sentimenti admit that i’m one of those stampers that doesn’t always finish my cards inside, but i had to finish the back of this tag and i did enjoy the sense of accomplishment. :) since i’ve read that christmas is only three months away, i might be ready. thanks for popping by.

Lace Frame

this month’s stampalot challenge was very challenging, but i think i got it right; if not, it was fun trying. i created this wall hanging by diagonally cutting the 6 x 6 inch paper down to 4.75 inches, gathered the lace and attached it to the punchout sentiment, which already had its own frame. finally, i added gold cord, bow and green gems.  thanks for popping by.

My Ideas Notebook

round notebook spiral bound at the top with ideas sentiment in the middle
i’ve had this clearance bin notebook for a while now; the pages are unlined, so it’s perfect for my ideas, when i get them, lol. this week’s allsorts challenge was the motivation i needed to finally alter it and it only took about 15 minutes because i left the blue in place and just added print paper and alphabet stickers. i have to travel a couple of hours to get to some doctor appointments and wait once i get there, with nothing but outdated magazines to read. so, now i can pass the time by jotting down some sketches or inspiration. thanks for popping by.

Back To School Treat

now that my volunteer commitments have eased up a bit, i can get my fingers inky again, which i’ve really missed! i created this project for two challenges: the ribbon reel challenge – a back to school inspiration photo and the scor-pal challenge to make a box. i followed the instructions to make one like steph ackerman’s; this is a money gift for my daughter in university, but i think i’ll be making more for christmas treats.

Holiday Treats

winter bird with candy cane striped scarf
i made two dozen of these matchbook candy holders for the parents’ bereavement support group i belong to; we had a holiday theme last night. this will be our second christmas without our son, so we’re not really in a festive mood, but i want to send season’s greetings to my friends, supporters and visitors to my blog. i’ll be keeping busy with my card making because i feel at peace when i’m lost in my world of watercolouring.

i’m submitting this to the meljen’s challengesweet as candy and the allsorts challenge of anything goes.  thanks for popping by.
