You Come To Mind

if you follow me, you know my shoulder has been sore; it needs to be replaced but i’m putting that off for as long as i can because of the rehab time. creating and computer use are limited but when i saw the impression obsession challenge theme was clean and simple, i thought i could manage it and i did.

IO verse copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com

i sponged distress inks onto cold press watercolour paper, spritzed, stamped the IO sentiment, you come to mind (D9772) and attached it to a white card base measuring 3.5 by 5 inches.

i’m also playing along with the just add ink challenge #399 theme of just add water.

thanks for popping by.

Fabulous Fun

i’ve been working on creating christmas card sets for family members but trying to create just for fun in between all the mass production. for today’s card i followed the My Favorite Things Sketch 302:http://www.cardchallenges.com/2016/10/wednesday-sketch-challenge-sketch-302.html

linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com MFT challenge 302

i painted the background and the ‘fabulous’ with sennelier watercolour paints, heat embossed with holographic embossing powder and offset the word on white; all the die cuts were layered four times. thanks for popping by.

Grumpy Penguin

i enjoy making christmas cards year round but i usually make cards for my family at the last minute. thanks to the share joy challenges i’ve been playing along with, i’ll be ready with cards featuring funny little grumpy characters.

SJC48

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com taylored expressions challenge 48

i chose the clean and simple challenge this time and watercoloured the sky and this little guy with two watercolour paints: sennelier and twinkling H2Os and used stickles on the star and for snow. thanks for popping by.

Ombre Christmas Card

the current prompt at the jingle belles is Ombre Colors of Christmas and this beautiful inspiration photo:

JBinspir2016

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com jinglebelles ombre

i started off by painting ombre die cut presents, but decided they were better suited to a birthday card, so that’s what it ended up as. i experimented with a few colour combinations and my twinkling H2Os until i was happy with my choices for a christmas card. as usual, i used my twinks on this penny black die that i inlaid against the snowflake embossed background.

i’d also like to submit this to:
ABC Christmas Challenge where the theme is ‘N is for No Rules!’
Simon Says work it wednesday challenge: wafer thin dies.

thanks for popping by.

Bright Floral Notecards

my daughter has been visiting and had a lot of fun with a stencil from magenta’s new release; since she doesn’t have a blog, i’m posting them here so she can submit them to the magenta challenge anything goes theme for august. i love these! my card did not turn out very well so i’ll have to start over and post later. COPYRIGHT LIANNE she used a foam blending tool and distress inks to create this set of one-layer cards. COPYRIGHT LIANNE thanks for popping by.

House Of Cards – Metallics

it’s the first of august so time for a new theme at the house of cards challenge; this month we’d like to create a card with using this word cue~

Metallics

houseofcardsaugust2015

i had a lot of fun creating this card. i started by embossing silver mirri paper and painted it with ColourArte silks acrylic glaze, black ice. the flower and leaves were coloured with metallic rub-on paint and i used the inlaid die technique for the penny black thank you sentiment. be sure to visit the blog throughout the month for tutorials and creative inspiration from the rest of the design team.

thanks for popping by.

Hello There

i’m playing along with the Noor! Design UK Challenge #8: something old, something new.

COPYRIGHT LINDA @ SNAILZPACE.WORDPRESS.COM

i created another small card for my stash using an image from my new Joy! Crafts spring clear stamp set, new Joy! Crafts sun die and new elizabeth craft design hello die; the old items are the papers (watercolour, black glossy and matting) and my twinkling H2Os to watercolour with.

i’d also like to submit this to the summer theme at bunny zoe’s crafts july challenge.

thanks for popping by.

A Ton Of Hearts

i’m playing along with the WPlus9 Challenge – Get Sketchy with Joni #2 and here’s her sketch:

wplus9 sketch 02

wplus9.elephant

i watercoloured this cute elephant from the clear stamp set ‘bubble talk’ with twinkling H2Os, masked him and stamped the hearts border. to finish it off, i added red stickles to the tiny stamped hearts and one of the sentiments from the same set. this card will be sent to a family member who loves elephants.

Flying High

you might remember that on day 4 of kathy’s 30 day colouring challenge, i posted this sky that i painted with watercolour paints:

watercolour sky

i wasn’t sure what i wanted to do with it; i just love painting skies. but since then i acquired a house mouse stamp set that i thought was perfect. this is what it looks like now that i added more colour with twinkling H2Os and cropped it.

housemousekite

so, this is for day 26.challenge_graphic-June-650

i’d also like to submit this card to the House-Mouse…and friends Challenge CODE HMFMC196 for the anything goes option, although i imagine the bunny would be flying high if he were celebrating.

thanks for popping by.

Fa-la-la-la-la at Jingle Belles

i had every intention of avoiding a last minute creation for the jingle belles prompt, but time and energy have not been abundant enough; better late than never should be my motto.

bells

the current jingle belles prompt is to create cards that:

  • incorporate music
  • are inspired by a holiday song or
  • include a holiday song title

i started off with silver bells (the song was stuck in my head) but that looked kind of blah so i pieced the memory box bells together using different colours of mirri paper. i attached the vellum music piece to some light blue card stock and then to the mirri.

because of the reflective nature of the mirri, my camera kept appearing and of course then my battery had to be recharged so this is from my cell phone, taken on an angle so you won’t see it or me in there. this card looks much better in real life and now i have my dad’s christmas card done.

thanks for popping by.

Christmas Ornaments

the current jingle belles prompt, which i’m playing along with at the last minute once again, is embossing – dry and/or heat. this was one of the fastest cards i’ve ever made – i dry embossed and added a gold peel off sticker that looks copper in the photo.

dry embossed ornaments

i’m also playing along with rudolph day, hosted by scrappymo, since i missed last month; there just aren’t enough hours in the day. thanks for popping by.

Spring Flowers

spring seems to be taking so long to arrive this year. in the meantime, i can create with spring flowers; this is another card i made for our march penny black and more challenge theme of blossoms and bows.

i used another image from the penny black clear stamp set chick to chick; they’re adorable and perfect for spring and easter.

penny black flowers

i water coloured with twinkling H2Os and winsor & newton watercolour paints.

remember, you can use any company’s stamp for your focal point, just no digis please; a future guest designer will be selected from those who use a PB image and as always, there are some fabulous prizes to be won so i hope you’ll come and play along. visit the blog for some fabulous creations by my teamies.

i’d like to submit this card to these challenges:
penny black saturday – spring blooms
Card Mania # 66 Spring
Natalie and Amy’s Challenge #30 Flowers
One Crazy Stamper Anything goes
Addicted To Stamps and More anything goes
30 Day Colouring Challenge – The Daily Marker/Kathy Racoosin (day 15 and my third entry)

thanks for popping by.

A Spring Chick

it’s not quite spring, (almost!) but it is the first sunday of march so time for a new challenge theme at penny black and more and it’s blossoms and bows!

for my DT card, i used one of the chicks from the penny black clear stamp set chick to chick.

pennyblackeasterchick

as usual, i water coloured with twinkling H2Os, rounded the image panel corners and popped it on foam tape.

remember, you can use any company’s stamp for your focal point, just no digis please; a future guest designer will be selected from those who use a PB image and as always, there are some fabulous prizes to be won so i hope you’ll come and play along. visit the blog for some fabulous creations by my teamies.

Lawnscaping’s 100th Challenge

the lawnscaping challenge is having a 100th birthday celebration with extra inspiration on the blog. i didn’t think i’d have time to join in, but i created a CAS and quick and easy card.

10846312_10205212996710320_8506688940304057320_n

i heat embossed the multi-coloured sentiment from the ‘so much to say’ stamp set and used coloured pencils to colour the randomly stamped star from the same set. i added fine glitter, matted it onto a black card base and i have another birthday card for my stash.

Penny Black And More – Mid February 2015

i made this card to remind you that you still have plenty of time to play along with us at the penny black and more challenge where the theme for february is anything goes, but no digis.

penny black special wishes

for my DT card, i stamped a sentiment from the penny black ‘special wishes‘  clear stamp set with archival brilliance peacock ink on white glossy paper, layered it on blue shimmer card stock onto a pre made green card. the tiny butterfly is a peel off and so are the tiny dots but i coloured them to match with a permanent marker.

check out the blog for some beautiful creations by my teamies. remember, you can use any company’s stamp for your focal point, just no digis please; a future guest designer will be selected from those who use a PB image. as always, there are some fabulous prizes to be won so i hope you’ll come and play along.

Penny Black And More – February 2015

it’s the first sunday of the month and the penny black and more challenge theme for february is any easy one – anything goes!

for my DT card, i stepped outside my comfort zone of coloured images and used sentiments from two penny black clear stamp sets: just a note…from tiny wishes (30-026) and it’s your special day from sweet wishes (30-104).

penny black.february.2015

the notebook edge was cut with MFT die-namics and i added some pink gems.

Penny Black And More – January 2015

it’s the first sunday of the month so it’s time for a new theme at the penny black and more challenge; this month, we’d like to see you create with stencils, masks and embossing folders.

for my DT card, i chose to emboss and distress some core’dinations paper for my background.

penny black hedgehogs

i coloured this cute hedgie image from using Penny Black wonderful 30-029 clear stamp set with twinkling h2os and since this is a masculine birthday card, i resisting adding my usual stickles.

i hope you’ll come and play along; remember, you can use any company’s stamped image for your focal point, just no digis please.  as always, there are some fabulous prizes to be won plus a chance of being a guest designer if you do use a PB image.

thanks for popping by.

Twinkling Hydrangea

DSC01239
the impression obsession challenge is ‘favourite technique’ and mine is watercolouring. i used twinkling H2Os to create a wash on some watercolour paper to die cut the petals with the IO hydrangea die (DIE044-Y); i painted the leaves and using the same twinks, i painted the edges of watercolour paper to create the mat and had fun splattering the leftovers on cardstock. finally, i added blue stickles to the petal centres.

i’m also submitting this card to these other challenges:
stamp and create – ready for spring
little red wagon – #226 yearning for spring!
virginia’s vew challenge #1 – watercolouring
loves rubberstamps – anything goes

thanks for popping by.

Festive Foliage

DSC01211

i painted the background with twinkling H2Os on watercolour paper, then stamped the hero arts holly and painted the leaves with the same twinks and added red stickles to the berries. i used red glitter paper to mat the image and attached it to the paper that i distressed the edges of. i’m submitting this to the christmas at sweet stampin’ challenge theme of festive foliage and the country view crafts challenge theme of painty pleasures. thanks for popping by.

Snow Globe Bird

this is my second creation for this week’s less is more challenge to make a christmas card and use a bird, but this one is eligible.

in addition to my RA, i’ve had other health issues the last couple of weeks so i’ve not had much time to play. i submitted the first bird card with several tabs open for challenges, but i wasn’t concentrating and forgot to check the rules; oops, but a couple of designers at less is more were kind enough to leave some comments along with a gentle reminder. so, here’s another card using another cute penny black chick coloured with coloured pencils, flower soft on his hat, and stickles on the ground. the snow globe die is from memory box.

i’d also like to submit this to little claire’s designs – christmas theme.

thanks for popping by.

Shaped Like Santa

shaped.like

i’m playing along with the jingle belles and their current prompt to ‘shape-up for the holidays.’ i made a clean and simple round card, using black glossy paper for santa’s belt and the white is a mulberry paper with strands of gold, although it doesn’t show well in the photo. thanks for popping by.

Christmas Robins

christmasrobins
this month’s magenta challenge is anything goes so i decided to make a christmas card; i watercoloured the robins and sky with twinkling H2Os, added a ribbon and i have another CAS card for my stash. i’m also submitting this card to these challenges:

Pink Calla Lilies

COPYRIGHT LINDA @ SNAIL'S SPACE AND DESCRIBED HERE SOLELY FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES; card with green background, debossed on the bottom portion with a focal point of pink calla lilies in a gold vase
i created this card for the september crafter’s companion challenge theme of embossing. i watercoloured the calla lilies from the Stamp-It-Australia Floral Fancies stamp set (available in the US) with twinkling H2Os; i used the same twinks to create some matching mats with watercolour paper. i embossed a portion of the green paper, sanded the debossed side and added the memory box die cut ribbon slide. i decided not to put a sentiment on the front so i can use it for any occasion. thanks for popping by.

Make Lemonade

the less is more challenge this week is to use a rubber stamp and watercolour (my favourite technique) so i used three different watercolour media to colour this penny black image: watercolour crayons, twinkling H2Os and distress ink pads. i cut out one lemon, added stickles to the edge and popped it on foam tape. thanks for popping by.

Penny Black And More September

Penny Black Sunflower
i don’t know where the time goes, but it’s the first sunday of the month and time for a new theme at the penny black and more challenge; this month we’d like to see fall colours or a sketch by the talented Brenda or both, so you have several options. i stamped this ‘sunny’ penny black cling stamp with twinkling H20s, added some splatters and used permanent markers to colour the peel off corners to match the distress ink i used to sponge the background paper.

there are some fabulous prizes to be won, along with a chance to be a guest designer so i hope you’ll play along. thanks for popping by.

Free To Be Me

copyright by linda @ snail's space and described here for people with disabilities; a thinking of you card in red and white with a ladybug holding a white daisy
happy canada day to my fellow canadians and independence day to my friends south of the border.

this is my first time playing along with CAS-ology and the cue word is FREE; i learned a new philosophy after the loss of my son so the first thing that comes to my mind is free to be – which includes sad, happy, silly, whatever mood i’m in, i’m free to be in it and i won’t apologize for it. i’m also free to express myself politically, artistically, or however i want because i live in a free country, thanks to the many veterans who fought to keep it this way.

i coloured the image with distress ink pads, added black stickles to the ladybug’s dots and yellow stickles to the flower centre. i’m also submitting this to the simply create too #40 challenge to use the colours of your country’s flag, which are red and white and the addicted to CAS challenge of take flight. thanks for popping by.

For Dad

father's day card with stamped black wildflowers surrounded by orange, pink and red sponged ink
this CAS card is on its way to my dad for father’s day. i stamped and sponged with distress inks and i used my new memory box alphabet dies, which i love; they’re the perfect size for cards. thanks for popping by.

Funny Snowmen

christmas card in teal with snowman and season's greetings sentiment with three printed paper banners
i’ve had these basic grey papers for quite some time, but i just couldn’t come up with an idea to use what i call the goofy snowmen. thanks to stephanie’s sketch at the jingle belles, this card came together very quickly and i finally cut into some of my stash of papers. i stamped the penny black snowman, sponged the edge with distress ink and used a sentiment from the same clear set. i think i’ll have to make some more cards with this layout. thanks for popping by.

Penny Black And More – CAS

card with sweet wishes sentiment, red trim and a hedgehog balancing a strawberry on his nose
this is my DT card for the penny black and more challenge; this month, we’d like to see your clean and simple cards. i masked the ‘strawberry jam’ image 4254J, coloured with distress inks and cut out the strawberry to pop it on foam tape; the sentiment is from the ‘sweet wishes’ clear set 30-104.

you’ll be inspired by the rest of the design team’s beautiful creations and you can also check out the fabulous prizes from sponsors Penny Black, Crimson Cloud, Stamp Addicts and All that Scraps; just use a stamped image from any company as your focal point, no digis please, and upload by july 3. i hope you play along and have fun with this theme. thanks for popping by.

Merry & Bright

christmas card in green with dotted tree and jingle all the way sentiment on a blue base
i created this CAS card for the merry and bright jingle belles prompt to use bright colours and the winter wonderland challenge theme of oh christmas tree. the ‘jingle’ was cut out already so i only added the dotted background and the tree sticker; very quick and easy, which is about my speed right now. thanks for popping by.
