Rainbow Frog

hello again; i’ve missed you! thank you for your kind words. while i was dealing with an ill family member, i ended up in hospital myself with pneumonia, thanks to my RA and wonky immune system.

i’m home now but since i don’t have much energy, i kept this card quick and simple, just in time to link it up to the anything goes theme at the Pink and Main Challenge #9.

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com pink and main 9

i watercoloured the sky and frog with twinkling H2Os, but i created the rainbow with my albrecht durer watercolour pencils and covered it in wink of stella clear glitter. i added glossy accents to the splashes and puddle and finished it off with some twine and clouds.

thanks for popping by. i won’t get caught up on commenting any time soon, but i hope to pop by to see what you’ve been up to.

Card Making Fun

this is another scheduled post as i’m still dealing with a family member’s illness and might be for some time. i love this image; it depicts what i wish i had more time and energy to do.

copyright linda @ snailzpace.wordpress.com Marianne Designs Crafter.jpg

as usual, i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and added white flocking to her slippers; all the supplies are from buddly crafts and are listed below.

Marianne Design:
Clear Stamps – Don & Daisy Crafter
Collectables Cutting Dies – Flower Set
Craftables Die – Daisy & Leaves

Kim’s Digi Papers – Pretty Mix – Pink

Feel Better Soon

this is a scheduled post; due to a family emergency, i haven’t had much time to create or pop by to comment. i wanted to make a get well card and realized i don’t have enough images for these occasions (any excuse for shopping), but i do like this funny from the heart stamps called ‘sick chick‘.

from the heart stamps feel better

of course he’s watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and since it’s for a male, i left it clean and simple, using his favourite colours.

thanks for popping by.

House of Cards May 2016

since it’s the first of a new month, it’s time for a fun new theme at the house of cards:

VelllumAcetate-2

house of cards may 2016

this month we’d like you to use clear papers like vellum or acetate. i stamped an impression obsession sentiment onto a silk-like paper with gold threads woven in it and glued it onto a piece of memory box designer paper.

i hope you’ll come and play along!

thanks for popping by.

Anything Goes At Penny Black And More In May

it’s the first sunday of the month so it’s time for a new theme at the penny black and more challenge blog; this one is an easy 0ne – anything goes, as long as the focal point is a hand stamped image or large sentiment.

i was lucky enough to receive this adorable penny black hedgie stamp from my team mate Sam so i made a set of six cards featuring this little cutie; four of one design and two of another since i ran out of paper.

penny black and more copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com

i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and added stickles to the flower centres.

i hope you’ll come and play along – remember, you can use any company’s stamp for your focal point, just no digis please; a future guest designer will be selected from those who use a PB image and as always, there are some fabulous prizes to be won from: Penny Black, Crafts U Love, Crafty Ribbons, Sam.

Penny Black And More Mid Month Reminder – Birthdays!

i’m popping in with a reminder that we’re midway through the birthday theme at the penny black and more challenge blog, so why not get out those penny black stamps, ink them up and join us!

penny black birthday

i watercoloured this cute hedgie image from the penny black ‘wonderful’ set with twinkling H2Os and used a sentiment from the ‘sweet wishes’ set.

i hope you’ll come and play along – remember, you can use any company’s stamp for your focal point, just no digis please; a future guest designer will be selected from those who use a PB image and as always, there are some fabulous prizes to be won from: Penny Black, Crafty Ribbons, Be Creative, Stix 2.

Another Bunny Thank You

i need another thank you card for the specialist vet that takes care of my daughter’s bunny so i used this week’s sketch at the Share Joy Challenge 30:

SJC30
Taylored Expression bunny2

like last week’s card, i watercoloured this cute bunny from the Taylored Expressions Easter Doodles set with twinkling H2Os, added some flower soft to the tail and popped it on foam tape. i finished it off with the lady bug and sentiment from the same stamp set.

i’m also playing along with these challenges:
Critters and Creatures Linky Party 3 – Main focus must be a Critter or Creature
Cutie Pie Challenge – Cute + Woodland Friends
One Crazy Stamper Anything Goes (no digital images allowed)

thanks for popping by.

Thanking A Vet

i’m playing along with the Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge 29: Sketch and Color Challenge:

SJC29

Taylored Expression bunny

i used three of the four colours and followed the sketch to create this thank you card for one of the vets who goes above and beyond in her excellent care of my daughter’s bunny. i watercoloured this little cutie from the Taylored Expressions Easter Doodles set with twinkling H2Os, added some flower soft to the tail and popped it on foam tape.

thanks for popping by.

Penny Black And More April 2016 – Birthdays!

it’s the first sunday of april and i know i say this all the time, but where does the time go? we have a new theme this month at the penny black and more challenge blog – we’d like you to create a birthday project!

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.pbandmore.birthday

i used this cute hedgie image from the penny black ‘wonderful’ clear set, watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and used some MFT dies to create a tag card with a pocket in the front.

i hope you’ll come and play along – remember, you can use any company’s stamp for your focal point, just no digis please; a future guest designer will be selected from those who use a PB image and as always, there are some fabulous prizes to be won from: Penny Black, Lets Create, ‘be Creative!’ and Sizzix.

Just Peachy

i’m playing along with the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge 274 and, as usual, mine is a literal interpretation.

274

MFT flower copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.

i did change one thing though – instead of my usual watercoloured image, i used an MFT blueprint flower die as the focal point. i’ve been practicing making crinoline flowers, thanks to the very talented Tammy Tutterow and her step-by-step tutorial.

the square and this flower are coloured with pink and yellow distress inks that mixed together to create a nice orange, which is my least favourite colour, but this one’s more peachy so i like it. i added flower soft to the die cut centre; i used the Die-Namics Dainty Lace Border Die and decided to not discard the remaining piece and use it to offset the lace. to finish it off, i attached the flower to a MFT stitched circle and added the sentiment.

thanks for popping by.

Spring Has Arrived

the weather’s not quite spring-like yet, but i know it will be soon! and now that it’s the first of a new month, it’s time for a new theme at the house of cards challenge; we’d like to see your interpretation of this beautiful photo:

Use Script and/or Colors

StillHues_2

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.HOCApril2016

i was inspired by the pink and green colour combo, one of my favourites, to use this wild rose studio teddy; isn’t he cute? i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and added yellow stickles to the flower centres. to finish it off, i added a hello sentiment using an elizabeth craft die. i hope you’ll come and play along!

i’d like to submit this card to the Take It Make It Challenge Spring Flowers theme at Craft Stamper and the Simon Says: Anything Goes.

thanks for popping by.

Make Mine Chocolate Too!

since my daughter adopted two bunnies, i’ve learned a lot about how precious and sweet they are. every easter bunnies are thought to be the perfect gift, but 80% are abandoned. bunnies are adorable, but require a lot of care and commitment and the decision to give one, or more, a forever home should only be made after researching what they require. i support the make mine chocolate campaign and enjoy chocolate bunnies too.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.bunny2016

i painted everything with twinkling H2Os and used these dies: poppystamps grand bunny, memory box lavish branch and memory box butterfly delights. of course i added pink stickles to the flower and butterfly centres.

i’d like to submit this to these challenges:
Memory Box Challenge #10- Blossoms and Bunnies
Poppystamps Challenge #18 – Spring Fling
Pink & Main Challenge #7 – Spring

thanks for popping by.

Hello, Sunshine

finally, the sun’s been out a bit more lately and now we get an extra hour of daylight, which means better light for colouring; it’s about time! i’ve tried daylight lamps, but they’re just not the same.

i created this notecard with inspiration from these three challenges:

Colouarte’s Monthly Challenge #9 – Green Valley
http://colourarte.blogspot.ca/2016/02/monthly-challenge-9-green-valley.html
My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge 272:
272

My Favorite Things Colour Challenge:
MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_41

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.MFT272

i coloured everything with twinkling H2Os, mixing some to get colours close to the MFT swatches. i usually use my twinks to colour images, but i love using them to create backgrounds as well. the MFT die cut sun was popped on foam tape and i added a sentiment from the BB Sunflower Sweetheart stamp set, retired now.

thanks for popping by.

Penny Black And More Feature a Creature Reminder

i’m just popping in with a reminder that you still have time to play along with our feature a creature theme this month at the penny black and more challenge blog for a chance to win some fabulous prizes.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.pbandmore.creature2

i used a different image from the penny black chick to chick clear stamp set and a sentiment from the garden friends – watercoloured it with twinkling H2Os as usual and also used my twinks to create the yellow background. i added glossy accents to the ladybug and wink of stella to the egg.

i hope you’ll come and play along – remember, you can use any company’s stamp for your focal point, just no digis please; a future guest designer will be selected from those who use a PB image.

visit the blog for some fabulous creations by my teamies.

i’d like to submit this card to these challenges:
Animal Friends Challenge #36 Easter (must have an animal)
Noor! Designs UK #16 Clean and Simple
One Crazy Stamper Anything Goes (no digital images allowed)
Simon Says Stamp – Cute and Cuddly
Critters and Creatures Linky Party 2 – March – anything goes

thanks for popping by.

Make A Wish

the last time i used this adorable teddy image from the Buddly Crafts Birthday Wishes clear stamp set i used neutral colours, so i had fun creating a more feminine card this time.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.buddlycrafts

as usual, i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and used my favourite banner dies to pop the pennants on foam tape; i love these pretty papers from Studio Light by Janneke Brinkman #17. to finish off the card, i added clear glitter on teddy’s hat stars, glossy accents on the plate and punched stars to the border.

thanks for popping by.

Penny Black And More Feature a Creature

it’s hard to believe it’s the first sunday of march already, but it’s time for a fun new theme at the penny black and more challenge blog; this month we’d like for you to ‘feature a creature.’

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.pbandmore.creature

i watercoloured this cute penny black image from the chick to chick clear stamp set with twinkling H2Os and i created the yellow mat with my twinks too.

remember, your focal point has to be a stamped image or large sentiment; no digis please and a future guest designer will be selected from those who use a PB image. as always, there are some fabulous prizes to be won from: Penny Black, Crafty Ribbons, Marianne Designs and two DT members, Sam and Mervi, have prizes on their blogs too. visit the blog for some fabulous creations by my teamies.

Twinkling H20 Basics by Leslie “O” Inventor

i love watercolouring images and although i have a good supply of different companies’ products, my favourite is colourarte’s twinkling H2Os which i’ve been using now for years.

i know from reader comments that many people have them but they’re not being used; did you know you can use them on your rubber stamps? here’s a helpful how to video: Twinkling H20 Basics by Leslie “O” Inventor.

thanks for popping by.

Layers From Leftovers

i used some leftover papers from my last card to create this quick and easy christmas card that is a bit different for me since i usually watercolour images; this tree was included in the paper pad.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.brighttree

i had to colour something though so i used permanent markers to colour peel off dot stickers and covered up all the printed tree ornaments; i also die cut lawn fawn snowflakes from white glitter paper and added a few more.

i’m playing along with these challenges:
jingle belles: All Bundled Up – cards that have at least three layers!
rudolph days: anything goes from the 25th to the end of the month
simon says – anything goes

thanks for popping by.

Stay Warm

i’m playing along with two of My Favorite Things Challenges: the Wednesday Sketch #268 and the Colour #39.

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_39
268

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.MFT268

i watercoloured this adorable bear with twinkling H2Os and gave her a bright pink scarf and hat and, as usual, i literally followed the sketch so it came together quickly. i added one of the sentiments from the same stamp set and a MFT snowflake.

thanks for popping by.

Text Tree

it’s unusual for me to post daily but i was determined not to wait until the last minute to play along with the jingle belles for a change. the prompt this time is all about “celebrating fab fonts, lovely lettering and all things terrifically typographic with a prompt we’re calling, “Text Me“.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.texttree

i used an older kaisercraft stamp inked with versa color on a background i created by brayering distress inks and splattering with twinkling H2Os; of course i had to add yellow stickles to the stars. i made three of this design just because it was a quick and easy card since i didn’t use a coloured image. thanks for popping by.

Friendship Bookmarks

while i was having fun with the monster stamp set, i made two bookmarks to submit to the Avery Elle challenge and this month’s theme: AEI♥U Challenge 33–Friendship!

Challenge 33 alt_thumb[2]

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.AEmonsterbookmarks

these little cuties were watercoloured with twinkling H2Os on hot press watercolour paper and the backgrounds were brayered with distress inks. since the blue monster had his hands up in the air, i added splatters because i think he’s throwing confetti.

thanks for popping by.

Monster Friends

this is the first time i’m playing along with the Avery Elle challenge and this month’s theme: AEI♥U Challenge 33–Friendship!

Challenge 33 alt_thumb[2]

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.AEmonstercard

i thought these little cuties were perfect for the theme and it was fun to use them for something other than halloween. i watercoloured two of the monsters from the avery elle clear stamp set with twinkling H2Os and stamped the sentiment onto the bottom of the AE bookmark die to use as a tab and sponged it with distress ink.

thanks for popping by.

Never Forget – You’re Awesome

this fun card was made with someone special in mind, using an action wobble on the elephant to make it interactive.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.elephantwobble

i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and fussy cut but since his tail was just a line i snipped it off and put some twine in its place; the sentiment is lawn fawn.

i’d like to submit this to these challenges:
Simon Says Stamp – Shake It Up
Alphabet Challenge – Z for ZOO animals
Craft for the Craic – February – Something To Make You Smile

thanks for popping by.

Heart Bubbles

i’m just popping in with a reminder that you still have plenty of time to play along with us at the penny black and more challenge blog for the anything goes with a stamp and a die(s) theme this month.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.pbandmore2

i used sizzix ticket dies to cut the image and mat, watercoloured this cute hedgie from the penny black every which way clear stamp set with winsor & newton watercolour paints and twinkling H2Os. the heart bubbles were made dimensional with viva decor glass effect gel.

i hope you’ll come and play along – remember, you can use any company’s stamp for your focal point, just no digis please; a future guest designer will be selected from those who use a PB image and as always, there are some fabulous prizes to be won from: Penny Black, Crafts U Love, Stix2 and Crafty Ribbons.

Love You Always

pretty pink posh’s valentine challenge requires participants to pick one of four designers’ cards for inspiration:

valentinechallenge2-e1454139253662

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.pppvalentine

i was inspired by joni’s cute couple, the banners, bows and sentiment. i watercoloured the background and penny black hedgies with twinkling H2Os, added die cut hearts and bows separated by PPP Razzle Dazzle seed beads in red and the container includes some pretty charcoal grey ones that i attached to their noses.

i’d also like to submit this card to these challenges:
ABC Challenge  A is for Animals
Ellie’s Critters and Creatures #1 – Anything goes with an animal
kathy’s 30 day colouring

thanks for popping by.

Merry Gingerbreads

the jingle belles prompt is ‘BLING on the Holidays’ and i have bling, just no mojo so i cased my trees card and used different coloured glitter papers.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.jinglebelles

i used the same design as my other card, the same wplus9 merry die and these little guys are also part of the same IO die set. instead of colouring my background, i added some red and clear stickles to the designer paper (free in a magazine), matted it onto shimmer paper and then glitter paper. i used the inlaid die technique with these tiny gingerbreads – time consuming but i like how it looks like white icing so all that frustration effort was worth it. i might even make a set of cards with this design.

thanks for popping by.

Warm Colours

i’m playing along with the My Favorite Things Color Challenge 38; the cool colours are my favourite to use, but i thought this was such a pretty palette!

MFT_ColorChallenge_PaintBook_38

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.MFTcolour38

i watercoloured this sweet image with twinkling H2Os, mixing some of the colours to match as closely as possible to the challenge colours, and used the same twinks to create the mat; another CAS card for my stash.

i’m also playing along with kathy’s 30 day colouring challenge; this was coloured in stages over several days.

thanks for popping by.

Hugs And Love

it’s the first sunday of the month and time for a new theme at the penny black and more challenge blog and it’s a very easy one! we’d like to see anything goes with a stamp and a die(s).

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.pbandmore

i watercoloured this cute hedgie from the penny black clear stamp set hugs! with twinkling H2Os and i used a couple of dies: my favorite things stitched circle, my favorite things scalloped border and spellbinders petite scallop circle.

i used my scor-pal and followed this flap fold card tutorial by Julie Davison on splitcoastampers; i changed the orientation of the images and added designer paper to the top fold.

i hope you’ll come and play along – remember, you can use any company’s stamp for your focal point, just no digis please; a future guest designer will be selected from those who use a PB image and as always, there are some fabulous prizes to be won from: Penny Black, Crafts U Love, Stix2 and Crafty Ribbons.

How I Now Roll

i’ve sometimes mentioned that i have severe RA (rheumatoid arthritis), an aggressive form that has had quite an impact on my daily life for almost 20 years now. initially, i resisted making any changes to my activity level, but in time i had no choice but to accept my limitations because of lack of mobility, deformed joints, pain, surgeries, etc.

while i enjoy my creative outlet/card making, there are some tools or techniques that are difficult to use and i wish the manufacturers would consider principles of universal access. i have to balance play with rest, which means i create and post when i can and sometimes i colour an image over the course of a few days. i also don’t comment as often as people expect me to or as much as i wish i could, even though i enjoy my reader updates.

today, i have a new assistive device that should make getting out and about easier; it’s a rollator that replaces my cane and since i had my choice of ten colours, i chose kiwi green – it matches my twinkling H2O kiwi. :)rollatorthanks for popping by.

You’re On My Mind

i made another card featuring this adorable wplus9 elephant for a special someone who really enjoyed the last one i made.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.phantwplus9

i fussy cut the elephant, used a wplus9 heart balloon die, watercoloured them both with twinkling H2Os and popped them on foam tape. the wplus9 sentiment is from the same stamp set and the hello was die cut from coordinating old kaisercraft paper and attached to fun foam. to finish it off, i added some twine around the trunk and i hope this card will be as well received as the last.

i was inspired to play along with these challenges:
wplus 9 – Throwback Thursday #11
kathy’s 30 day colouring
Simon Says Stamp – Have A Heart
Sweet Stampin valentine

Cupcake Card And Tag

it’s the first of the month so it’s time for a new theme at the house of cards challenge and this month we’d like you to shape up – create a card that is not square or rectangle.

ShapedCard

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.2016-1

i created a cupcake card and matching tag by using one of Buddly Crafts’ free templates by owner and Artist Kim MacFarlane found in the online shop: Digi Templates.

It’s A Good Day

sketch challenges, for me, are a real challenge; i usually literally follow sketches, but this time i was inspired to go way beyond my comfort zone and attempt a loose interpretation like some of the My Favorite Things designers did for the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge – Sketch 265.
http://www.cardchallenges.com/2016/01/wednesday-sketch-challenge-sketch-265.html

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.MFTsketch265

i stamped images from the MFT sunflower sweetheart stamp set instead of using three separate elements and watercoloured everything with twinkling H2Os; glossy accents were added to the hearts and i attached a few pretty pink posh clear sequins – i only used half of the sentiment from the same stamp set.

i’d also like to submit this card to these challenges:
Crafty Friends Challenge animals/birds
Let’s Color Saturday Linky Party Anything goes with something coloured; optional theme hearts
Sweet Stampin valentine
Simon Says Stamp – Wednesday Challenge Anything Goes
Colourarte Monthly Challenge – #8 – Color is the Heart of Art

thanks for popping by.

Christmas Trees

how’s this for cutting it close? i have under four hours to get this posted to the Jingle Belles christmas card challenge where the theme is oh christmas tree; rushed for time, i made a quick and easy CAS card.

copyright linda snailzpace.wordpress.com.christmastrees

i saw this cute tree die on one of jingle belle stephanie’s fun cards in november so when i saw the impression obsession die set at my local stamp store in december, and it was 30% off, i quickly added it to my basket. you might recognize the merry sentiment that i’ve used quite a bit; it’s a Wplus9 die and everything was cut from green glitter paper. the background was created with distress inks on 140 lb. cold press watercolour paper.

i’m also playing along with these challenges:

scrappymo’s Rudolph Days Challenge – anything goes
addicted to stamps and more #178 – holiday
Simon Says Stamp – anything goes
