Rainbow Frog

hello again; i’ve missed you! thank you for your kind words. while i was dealing with an ill family member, i ended up in hospital myself with pneumonia, thanks to my RA and wonky immune system.

i’m home now but since i don’t have much energy, i kept this card quick and simple, just in time to link it up to the anything goes theme at the Pink and Main Challenge #9.

i watercoloured the sky and frog with twinkling H2Os, but i created the rainbow with my albrecht durer watercolour pencils and covered it in wink of stella clear glitter. i added glossy accents to the splashes and puddle and finished it off with some twine and clouds.

i watercoloured this cute owl with twinkling H2Os, including painting the sky and stripes on his party hat; he’s one of the birthday owls in the pink and main ‘what a hoot‘ clear stamp set. i stamped a sentiment from the same set on the yellow textured paper, following the sketch from the sketch saturday challenge #409.

i need another thank you card for the specialist vet that takes care of my daughter’s bunny so i used this week’s sketch at the Share Joy Challenge 30:

like last week’s card, i watercoloured this cute bunny from the Taylored Expressions Easter Doodles set with twinkling H2Os, added some flower soft to the tail and popped it on foam tape. i finished it off with the lady bug and sentiment from the same stamp set.

i’m playing along with the Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge 29: Sketch and Color Challenge:

i used three of the four colours and followed the sketch to create this thank you card for one of the vets who goes above and beyond in her excellent care of my daughter’s bunny. i watercoloured this little cutie from the Taylored Expressions Easter Doodles set with twinkling H2Os, added some flower soft to the tail and popped it on foam tape.

Just Peachy

i’m playing along with the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge 274 and, as usual, mine is a literal interpretation.

i did change one thing though – instead of my usual watercoloured image, i used an MFT blueprint flower die as the focal point. i’ve been practicing making crinoline flowers, thanks to the very talented Tammy Tutterow and her step-by-step tutorial.

the square and this flower are coloured with pink and yellow distress inks that mixed together to create a nice orange, which is my least favourite colour, but this one’s more peachy so i like it. i added flower soft to the die cut centre; i used the Die-Namics Dainty Lace Border Die and decided to not discard the remaining piece and use it to offset the lace. to finish it off, i attached the flower to a MFT stitched circle and added the sentiment.

i was inspired by the pink and green colour combo, one of my favourites, to use this wild rose studio teddy; isn’t he cute? i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and added yellow stickles to the flower centres. to finish it off, i added a hello sentiment using an elizabeth craft die. i hope you’ll come and play along!

Make Mine Chocolate Too!

since my daughter adopted two bunnies, i’ve learned a lot about how precious and sweet they are. every easter bunnies are thought to be the perfect gift, but 80% are abandoned. bunnies are adorable, but require a lot of care and commitment and the decision to give one, or more, a forever home should only be made after researching what they require. i support the make mine chocolate campaign and enjoy chocolate bunnies too.

i painted everything with twinkling H2Os and used these dies: poppystamps grand bunny, memory box lavish branch and memory box butterfly delights. of course i added pink stickles to the flower and butterfly centres.

i coloured everything with twinkling H2Os, mixing some to get colours close to the MFT swatches. i usually use my twinks to colour images, but i love using them to create backgrounds as well. the MFT die cut sun was popped on foam tape and i added a sentiment from the BB Sunflower Sweetheart stamp set, retired now.

Make A Wish

the last time i used this adorable teddy image from the Buddly Crafts Birthday Wishes clear stamp set i used neutral colours, so i had fun creating a more feminine card this time.

as usual, i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and used my favourite banner dies to pop the pennants on foam tape; i love these pretty papers from Studio Light by Janneke Brinkman #17. to finish off the card, i added clear glitter on teddy’s hat stars, glossy accents on the plate and punched stars to the border.

Layers From Leftovers

i used some leftover papers from my last card to create this quick and easy christmas card that is a bit different for me since i usually watercolour images; this tree was included in the paper pad.

i had to colour something though so i used permanent markers to colour peel off dot stickers and covered up all the printed tree ornaments; i also die cut lawn fawn snowflakes from white glitter paper and added a few more.

i watercoloured this adorable bear with twinkling H2Os and gave her a bright pink scarf and hat and, as usual, i literally followed the sketch so it came together quickly. i added one of the sentiments from the same stamp set and a MFT snowflake.

Text Tree

it’s unusual for me to post daily but i was determined not to wait until the last minute to play along with the jingle belles for a change. the prompt this time is all about “celebrating fab fonts, lovely lettering and all things terrifically typographic with a prompt we’re calling, “Text Me“.

i used an older kaisercraft stamp inked with versa color on a background i created by brayering distress inks and splattering with twinkling H2Os; of course i had to add yellow stickles to the stars. i made three of this design just because it was a quick and easy card since i didn’t use a coloured image. thanks for popping by.

while i was having fun with the monster stamp set, i made two bookmarks to submit to the Avery Elle challenge and this month’s theme: AEI♥U Challenge 33–Friendship!

these little cuties were watercoloured with twinkling H2Os on hot press watercolour paper and the backgrounds were brayered with distress inks. since the blue monster had his hands up in the air, i added splatters because i think he’s throwing confetti.

this is the first time i’m playing along with the Avery Elle challenge and this month’s theme: AEI♥U Challenge 33–Friendship!

i thought these little cuties were perfect for the theme and it was fun to use them for something other than halloween. i watercoloured two of the monsters from the avery elle clear stamp set with twinkling H2Os and stamped the sentiment onto the bottom of the AE bookmark die to use as a tab and sponged it with distress ink.

i was inspired by joni’s cute couple, the banners, bows and sentiment. i watercoloured the background and penny black hedgies with twinkling H2Os, added die cut hearts and bows separated by PPP Razzle Dazzle seed beads in red and the container includes some pretty charcoal grey ones that i attached to their noses.

Merry Gingerbreads

the jingle belles prompt is ‘BLING on the Holidays’ and i have bling, just no mojo so i cased my trees card and used different coloured glitter papers.

i used the same design as my other card, the same wplus9 merry die and these little guys are also part of the same IO die set. instead of colouring my background, i added some red and clear stickles to the designer paper (free in a magazine), matted it onto shimmer paper and then glitter paper. i used the inlaid die technique with these tiny gingerbreads – time consuming but i like how it looks like white icing so all that frustration effort was worth it. i might even make a set of cards with this design.

i watercoloured this sweet image with twinkling H2Os, mixing some of the colours to match as closely as possible to the challenge colours, and used the same twinks to create the mat; another CAS card for my stash.

i’m also playing along with kathy’s 30 day colouring challenge; this was coloured in stages over several days.

i watercoloured this cute hedgie from the penny black clear stamp set hugs! with twinkling H2Os and i used a couple of dies: my favorite things stitched circle, my favorite things scalloped border and spellbinders petite scallop circle.

i used my scor-pal and followed this flap fold card tutorial by Julie Davison on splitcoastampers; i changed the orientation of the images and added designer paper to the top fold.

How I Now Roll

i’ve sometimes mentioned that i have severe RA (rheumatoid arthritis), an aggressive form that has had quite an impact on my daily life for almost 20 years now. initially, i resisted making any changes to my activity level, but in time i had no choice but to accept my limitations because of lack of mobility, deformed joints, pain, surgeries, etc.

while i enjoy my creative outlet/card making, there are some tools or techniques that are difficult to use and i wish the manufacturers would consider principles of universal access. i have to balance play with rest, which means i create and post when i can and sometimes i colour an image over the course of a few days. i also don’t comment as often as people expect me to or as much as i wish i could, even though i enjoy my reader updates.

today, i have a new assistive device that should make getting out and about easier; it’s a rollator that replaces my cane and since i had my choice of ten colours, i chose kiwi green – it matches my twinkling H2O kiwi. :)thanks for popping by.

i made another card featuring this adorable wplus9 elephant for a special someone who really enjoyed the last one i made.

i fussy cut the elephant, used a wplus9 heart balloon die, watercoloured them both with twinkling H2Os and popped them on foam tape. the wplus9 sentiment is from the same stamp set and the hello was die cut from coordinating old kaisercraft paper and attached to fun foam. to finish it off, i added some twine around the trunk and i hope this card will be as well received as the last.

It’s A Good Day

sketch challenges, for me, are a real challenge; i usually literally follow sketches, but this time i was inspired to go way beyond my comfort zone and attempt a loose interpretation like some of the My Favorite Things designers did for the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge – Sketch 265.

i stamped images from the MFT sunflower sweetheart stamp set instead of using three separate elements and watercoloured everything with twinkling H2Os; glossy accents were added to the hearts and i attached a few pretty pink posh clear sequins – i only used half of the sentiment from the same stamp set.

Christmas Trees

how’s this for cutting it close? i have under four hours to get this posted to the Jingle Belles christmas card challenge where the theme is oh christmas tree; rushed for time, i made a quick and easy CAS card.

i saw this cute tree die on one of jingle belle stephanie’s fun cards in november so when i saw the impression obsession die set at my local stamp store in december, and it was 30% off, i quickly added it to my basket. you might recognize the merry sentiment that i’ve used quite a bit; it’s a Wplus9 die and everything was cut from green glitter paper. the background was created with distress inks on 140 lb. cold press watercolour paper.
