i created this spring card for a couple of challenges: sir stampalot called for greens, yellow, and/or pink; the paper players‘ says spring has sprung; simon says ‘anything goes’ and splitcoaststampers is having a Spotted Canary Spring Challenge. the image is watercoloured, stickles were added to the dress, yellow flowers and water stream and a pink gem was added to the pink flower. thanks for popping by.
Hoppy Spring!
just when i thought it was starting to feel like spring, we’re supposed to get hit with 2 inches of snow; as you can tell by the photo, it’s very dull today. i made this for splitcoaststampers’ ways to use it challenge to use felt, the Spotted Canary Spring Challenge and the monthly flower soft challenge. thanks for popping by.
Is It Spring Yet?
even though there is still snow on the ground, the longer days make me think that spring is almost here so i went with some bright colours i don’t normally use. since the penny black saturday challenge is to use more than one fold, this was the perfect opportunity to try a stair step card. the image is watercoloured and i added stickles wherever i could. thanks for popping by.
i’m also submitting this card to the following challenges:
penny black at allsorts – welcome spring
ellephantastic challenges and roger too – cute with a butterfly
cute card thursday – signs of spring!
Spotted Canary Spring Challenge at splitcoaststampers
Pearls and Lace

it’s March?! i was so busy creating hostess samples for splitcoaststampers’ virtual stamp night that February just flew by. anyway, i created this for the penny black saturday challenge – pearls and lace. i’ve seen some very pretty cards using lace, but i seem to have difficulty finding some, so i went with a lacy paper and pearls. i’m also submitting this to the ellephantastic challenge to use distressing on love themed cards. i coloured the image with coloured pencils, distressed the edges with scissors and ink and popped it on foam tape. thanks for popping by.
Beary Happy Ballerina

i created this for the monthly challenge at forever friends to use bling and i followed the sketch challenge at cute card thursday. of course teddy is watercoloured, with stickles added to her tutu and flower on her head. thanks for popping by.
You Make My Heart Sing
as a hostess for next weekend’s virtual stamp night challenge at splitcoaststampers, i couldn’t resist the title and the opportunity to send out a reminder to join the fun.
this week’s penny black saturday challenge is a masculine card. i’m so lucky that my husband doesn’t mind if i put flowers or bows on my cards for him; he likes anything i make, so masculine cards for me are not difficult. :) i watercoloured hedgie, distressed the edges, and covered the guitar in glossy accents. i added stickles to the rose and used a wooden button from my mother-in-law’s antique button collection.
i’m also submitting this card to these challenges:
Sir Stampalot – all creatures great and small
PaperPlay Challenges – add shine
DYSU Challenge – dots
Colour Create – chocolate, strawberry and cream
thanks for popping by.
Spring Is Almost Here!

the days are getting longer and spring is almost here; that’s what i’m wishing anyway. this week’s flower soft challenge is ‘in the garden,’ so i watercoloured this floral image, added gold flower soft to the flower centres and popped it on an embossed piece of card stock that was distressed around the edges. the embossing folder and gold ribbon are part of a christmas gift from my friend, anne ryan – thanks anne! i added the gold pearls to the ribbon and it was done – a quick and easy card. thanks for popping by.
Pretty In Pink

pretty in pink is the theme this week at the penny black saturday challenge blog, so this betsy bluebell image immediately came to mind. i watercoloured the image, added stickles to the hearts and border and popped it on foam tape to the die cut label. i’m also submitting this to the pink theme at the craft your passion challenge blog and the birthday theme of the ways to use it challenge at splitcoaststampers. thanks for popping by.
Have A Wonderful Day!

i made this CAS card for the penny black at allsorts’ february theme to ‘Say It With Flowers.’ I watercoloured the image, added stickles to the bees and used my paintbrush to emphasize the word wonderful. The image panel was die cut, distressed around the edges, popped on foam tape and attached to a 4 1/4″ square card base. thanks for popping by.
Forever In My Heart

i haven’t posted all week because i’ve been busy making hostess samples for Virtual Stamp Night at splitcoaststampers at the end of this month and i can’t share them until then. this week’s penny black saturday challenge is to make a card based on LOVE IS…and complete the phrase either on the front or inside. i watercoloured hedgie, covered the heart with glossy accents and hand cut the hearts for the inside, but i also got to play with some new toys to create this card. thanks for popping by. i’m also submitting this to the following challenges:
The Paper Players – Love Is In The Air
CES Challenges – Red & Romance
Stampin’ For The Weekend – St. Valentine’s Day
Love Bubbles
this is my valentine card for my husband, following the sketch by DT member Pauline from this week’s penny black saturday challenge. i watercoloured the hedgie, used glossy accents on the bubble hearts and popped him on foam tape. i’m also submitting this card to the following challenges:
The Paper Players Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp! Animal Antics
Bunny Zoe’s Crafts Love Is In The Air
Krafty Case
For Queen Pam
i enjoy playing the queen for the day challenges at splitcoaststampers because i get to case cards and honour those who leave such encouraging comments. i found a card in pam’s gallery that used some very pretty papers; instead of a bow i added this chipboard shape i found at michaels with the queen for the day theme. thanks for popping by.
Cardinals for Christmas

i made five of these CAS cards for the monthly christmas card challenge at splitcoaststampers that i’ll give to my dad as part of a set for him to send out. the images were cut from notecards i found at michaels last year and i added a peel off sentiment. i didn’t even have to add any stickles; the glitter is already there. thanks for popping by.
Virtual Stamp Night Hostess Sample 6 mini
this is my hostess sample for the last VSN mini challenge last night – slimming down, which was to use the colour kraft, no more than 2 layers of card stock and it has to be encouraging. in the spirit of slimming down, this is a scrapling that was put together very quickly, although now i need time to recuperate and catch up with other challenges. thanks for popping by.

Love Bouquet

this week’s penny black saturday challenge is a fun idea of DT member BETH – to choose 4 items from a buffet; so many choices! in the end, i chose 3 gems, ribbon, patterned paper and three flowers. the image is watercoloured and i added stickles to the flowers and covered the leaves with glossy accents.
i’m also entering this in the january challenge at penny black at allsorts – All you need is Love and the splitcoaststampers‘ fan club monthly theme – Love Is In The Air. thanks for popping by.
A Queen’s Presents
this is an homage to judi, splitcoaststampers’ Queen For The Day! since i also love penny black stamps, i was inspired by this cutie, but i watercoloured it and popped it on the base. thanks for popping by.
What’s The Buzz?
the buzz is that the Queen For The Day challenges will now become a part of the ‘regular’ splitcoast challenges! it’s a fun weekly challenge, started by Anne Ryan, that honours stampers who regularly participate in weekly splitcoaststampers’ challenges and leave encouraging comments (more than 3 or 4 words) on other stampers’ cards.
this week’s Queen is Pat, aka Foxy67, and i was inspired by this card in Pat’s gallery. the image is watercoloured and i added stickles wherever i could. thanks for popping by.
All Blue
this is for the first inspiration challenge of this new year at splitcoaststampers; i’m just a bit slow to start. i was inspired by the blue check patterns in these napkins. i used a plaid stamp on the smaller flowers, the scor-pal for the mat, blue dew drops for the flower centres and blue pearls on the butterflies. thanks for popping by.
Tiny Tree Trio
the final caardvark challenge is to create a monochromatic card. i stamped the tree in green three times, cut them out, added gems and sponged the edges with green ink. the trees were popped on the card base with foam squares and i used my favourite MS holly punch to create the border, which is also sponged with green ink. i enjoy making smaller cards; this one measures 3 1/4″ x 4″. thanks for popping by.
Bright Stripes
i love striped paper and snowmen, so i was inspired to make this card for the moxie fab tuesday trigger. the hat and scarf are paper pieced, while the snowman is watercoloured. i made the striped frame and cut the striped mat with a circle punch. thanks for popping by.
Hedgie’s Ornament
this is the second card i made yesterday; this one is for the Queen For The Day #40 challenge at splitcoaststampers. i found this adorable mouse and ornament card and had to case it with a hedgie. i watercoloured the image, sponged the edges and popped it on foam dots onto snowflake embossed paper; added a bow and it’s done. thanks for popping by.
Typographical Greeting
this is my second christmas without my son, so i’m losing myself in card making and having a very untraditional christmas. this was one of two cards i made yesterday. the inspiration challenge at splitcoaststampers took us to an album cover site; i loved the typography section so i finally found a use for this text paper. thanks for popping by.
Holiday Treats

i made two dozen of these matchbook candy holders for the parents’ bereavement support group i belong to; we had a holiday theme last night. this will be our second christmas without our son, so we’re not really in a festive mood, but i want to send season’s greetings to my friends, supporters and visitors to my blog. i’ll be keeping busy with my card making because i feel at peace when i’m lost in my world of watercolouring.
i’m submitting this to the meljen’s challenge – sweet as candy and the allsorts challenge of anything goes. thanks for popping by.

Snow Fun

i made this card for flower soft challenge #16 – think snow! i watercoloured the snow couple, added flower soft snowflakes and snow on the ground and popped it onto a swiss dot embossed piece that i sponged with distress inks. the snowflake circle was popped on the circle sentiment and the ribbon was tied on. this is a small card that measures 3 1/2″ by 4 1/4″. thanks for popping by.
Clean and Simple Sympathy
i created this very quick and simple sympathy card for the paper players challenge to use your favourite colour combination for a specific occasion. i need a sympathy card and i usually use blue and black and this stamp; sometimes i add glitter or ribbon. thanks for popping by.
Christmas Caroling Mice
this month’s splitcoaststampers‘ fan club central theme challenge is a contest with a musical theme, so i watercoloured these singing mice and added stickles for snow. i think the one with the glasses is lip syncing because his book is upside down. it was more challenging to find an etsy item than to make this card, but i found this beautiful tea light candle holder. thanks for popping by.
…not even a mouse

this is my christmas card for my husband; he knows by now to expect either a mouse or hedgie on his cards. i watercoloured the image, added stickles to the fur trim and popped it on foam dots on paper printed with the ’twas the night before christmas poem. thanks for popping by. i’m submitting this to the following challenges:
penny black saturday – holly
allsorts – last minute christmas project
2 sisters challenge – ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas
bunny zoe’s crafts – sparkle and shine
meljen’s designs – red, gold and green
A Queen’s Case
i made this for two splitcoaststampers’ challenges: i cased this pretty card from Bridget, Queen For The Day, but i changed it to a christmas card because the Free For All Challenge is to make a quick christmas card “on the fly.” thanks for popping by.
