it’s the first sunday of november and time for a fun new penny black and more challenge; this month’s theme is ‘any die will do’ so for my DT card i used spellbinders edgeabilities and oval and my favorite things banner. this sweet penny black image, a gift from my friend, anne, is coloured with distress inks and i used a Flonz sentiment from a set. i hope you play along for some fabulous prizes plus a chance to be a guest designer; remember you can use any image, just no digis. the rest of the design team’s beautiful creations and all the challenge rules are here. thanks for popping by.

Mid Month Reminder Penny Black And More

my daughter asked me to make a thank you card for her vet who provided excellent care for one of her bunnies, pictured below; the little spotted bunny is recuperating from a tooth abscess. this is my mid month post for our animal magic theme at penny black and more; i inked up this penny black peek-a-bunny stamp, coloured with distress ink pads and popped the image panel on foam squares. there are some wonderful prizes and a chance to be a guest designer and remember – you can use any company stamp, just no digis. i’m also submitting this card to the cupcake craft – two’s company challenge. thanks for popping by.

Boo!

penny black posted four sketch challenges in celebration of world card making day, but i only had time to make one card for my daughter; i *had* to spend some time at my local stamp store for the occasion. i coloured with distress ink pads, popped the circles on foam tape and layered it up. i’m also submitting this to the card crafter’s circle and without words challenges. thanks for popping by.
Animal Magic At Penny Black And More

it’s the first sunday of the month and this is my DT card for the penny black and more challenge – our theme this month is animal magic, which explains how a mouse could trick or treat. i coloured with distress ink pads, cut him out and popped him with foam squares; i used coloured pencils on the bats and added flower soft to the broom. i’d love to see you play along – you can find the rest of the DT’s inspirational cards and all the rules on the blog. thanks for popping by.
Poinsettia Card For Papercraft Cafe

when i started designing my october DT card for papercraft cafe, my local stamp store, i thought that this new penny black winter magic stamp set was perfect for those 3″ x 3″ cards i love to make, but then i found the tuesday morning sketches blog. this little stamp can be the focal point of any size card; and, because of the sentiment, it still looks ok if you accidentally photograph the card upside down. (not shown, lol) i stamped the poinsettia twice on watercolour paper and just sponged with distress inks, cut some of the leaves away and layered it. thanks for popping by.
A Banner Day

making a clean and simple card using banners for the paper players challenge was definitely a challenge, so i really enjoyed making this card – besides, it went together quickly since i didn’t colour anything. i used the whimsy circle pennants dies for the banner, a penny black sentiment popped on foam squares and punched stars. i cut the banner behind the circle by hand.
i’m also entering this into the anything goes theme at the whimsy stamps challenge. thanks for popping by.
Another Early Christmas Make

this is my second DT card for this month’s Penny Black and More Challenge to create an early christmas project. i coloured the best day ever image with distress ink pads, sponged the edges and added stickles. i swiped an ink pad over the embossed panel, which ended up being a bit uneven, but i think it adds to the distressed style. one more card done; how about you – have you started making your christmas cards? if not, come and play!
i’m also playing along with these challenges:
cute card thursday – christmas in september
sparkle creations – animal prints
christmas crafting! – traditional christmas colours
pin and tack – anything goes
bunny zoes – distressing
thanks for popping by.
Home And Garden Show Sample

i haven’t had much time to play this week – i was out of town for two days and then had volunteer commitments. this is another sample i made for papercraft cafe for a ladies night event. i coloured with distress inks, added stickles to the centre and a bow. thanks for popping by.
Big Brother’s Birthday Wishes

this CAS card is going to my brother, who turns the big 60 this weekend. i masked the candle to add two more, coloured the images with distress inks and die cut the circles. thanks for popping by.
Penny Black And More September – Christmas Wish

this is my DT card for the September Penny Black and More Challenge – we’re getting ready for Christmas. i coloured this cute teddy with distress inks and used memory box dies: the jingle bells on blue glitter paper and the ticket. the sentiment is from the same stamp set. i’m submitting my card to the following challenges:
heck of a challenge – anything goes ends sept 30
no matter which challenges – die cuts and/or punches ends sept 30
the squirrel and the fox – one for the men ends sept 5
i’d love to see you play along – for inspiration, check out the other DT members’ beautiful Christmas creations at the blog here; there are some fabulous prizes to be won from sponsors Penny Black, Stampalot, Art of Craft, Pretty Little Ribbons. thanks for popping by.
Dreaming Geraniums

i created this card because marie, the owner of my local stamp store, papercraft cafe, asked me to make some samples for a home and garden show that she’s participating in. i thought this cute penny black ‘dreaming geraniums’ would suit the occasion so i coloured with distress inks as usual, added yellow stickles to the flower centres and added a rafia strip to the bottom and threaded it through the button. the sketch is by the very talented Silke Ledlow, who is hosting this month at crazy 4 challenges. thanks for popping by.
Summer Cycling
this oh so cute penny black ‘mimi’ stamp, a birthday gift from my friend anne, was so much fun to colour; as usual, i used distress inks to colour with and sponge the edges of everything. one of the two marianne design die cut flowers is popped on foam squares and a marianne design die cut tag is tucked in behind; the scallop border is a spellbinders die. i’m participating in these challenges:
marianne’s design divas – summer
everybody art challenge – summer
bunny zoe’s – summer
the crafty pad designs – to die for
stamptacular sunday – let’s hear it for the girls
thanks for popping by.
Penny Black And More – Whiskers and/or Wings

my DT card for the Penny Black and More august challenge is a gatefold for our Whiskers and/or Wings theme. a new sponsor, Flonz, generously provided the DT members with some stamps and i used the Flonz policeman and mermaid (corner stamp to create frame around image and sentiment). the penny black hedgie is from the garden friends set and coloured with distress inks and of course i added yellow stickles. you can find the challenge rules and the other DT creations here; there are some fabulous prizes to be won from sponsors Penny Black, Stampalot, Joanna Sheen, Crafts U Love, Flonz plus a chance to have your card chosen to be in the spotlight. thanks for popping by.
Exciting News

marie, the owner of papercraft cafe has formed a monthly design team and invited me to join! i enjoyed teaching classes in colouring with distress inks this past year at the store, and you know how much i love (am obsessed with) colouring, so it’ll be fun to create cards for store displays. for my first DT card, i chose this penny black ‘yearning’ image and coloured with distress inks as usual; the sentiment and tag are from flourishes and the tiny butterflies are from my new favourite die – memory box. thanks for popping by.
Poppies

brenda (floral fantasies) is having a fun candy challenge to make a card or project that has poppies on it, hints at the colour or idea of poppies or an has an image coloured in with the beautiful poppy colours. i’ve had this penny black poppies stamp for some time, but this is the first time i inked it up; it’s coloured with distress inks and letraset aqua markers with stickles in the flower centres and i used my new memory box butterflies die – i love it! i cased a layout in paper creations summer 2012 by the talented kendra sand. thanks for popping by.
Penny Black And More Summer Blooms

this is my DT card for the July Penny Black and More Challenge; this month we want to see Summer Blooms. i used a new penny black stamp from a clear set called flowers sweet, coloured with distress ink pads and added some mottled dots with my paintbrush. the other DT members’ beautiful creations and the challenge rules are here; there are some fabulous prizes to be won from sponsors Penny Black, Stampalot, Addicted to Stamps plus a chance to have your card chosen to be in the spotlight. thanks for popping by.
In The Dog House

the current challenge at the paper and such design blog is to make a card featuring a snail or dog. i’ve made many snail cards, so this time i used a cute penny black dog stamp that was a gift from my friend, anne. everything is coloured with distress ink pads and the sentiment is inky antics. thanks for popping by.
In Loving Memory 2012

i made this card in memory of my son, who passed away june 18, 2009. i used the things he loved most about my cards – dew drops, ribbon and the less is more approach, which i’m also taking with my description today. thanks for popping by.
It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

well it is if you don’t think about the heat or season. this cute penny black image was a birthday gift from a friend last year – thanks anne! i coloured it with distress ink pads, die cut it and sponged around the edges before i popped it on foam tape. i made the poinsettia with my dies, gathered some ribbon and added stickles to the berries. i followed a sketch from Cardmaps Today – Vol. 2 and i’m submitting this to the scrapbooker’s paradise blog challenge to add texture and the jingle belles challenge which is all about music. thanks for popping by.
Summer Fun

this was a fun card to make, especially because i used an action wobble spring for the image – that should hurry it along; ha. i coloured with distress ink pads, made the sun and die cut the clouds and grass. i’m submitting this to wobble wednesday’s anything goes challenge and the playing in paradise challenge to create a card, scrap page or altered item that’s fun, playful and colorful for kids. thanks for popping by.
Penny Black And More – All My Favourite Things

this is my DT card for the Penny Black And More June challenge; this month’s theme is All My Favourite Things: penny black critters, colouring with distress inks, pink and green, stickles, punches and die cuts, and chocolate cake – this one is chocolate raspberry because i also love raspberries (have you tried the godiva raspberry chocolate bars?!) you’ll be inspired by the beautiful cards from the other design team members and i’d love to see you play along and find out what your favourites are. there are some fabulous prizes from our generous sponsors – Penny Black, Sir Stampalot, Crimson Cloud, Classy Crafts and Little Darlings Rubber Stamps and remember you can use any stamp company image, just no digis. thanks for popping by.
One Crazy Stamper Guest Post – Hi!

this is another card i made for my guest design spot at One Crazy Stamper this month. this sweet image is part of a penny black clear set called eat cake and be merry; it’s coloured with distress inks and i covered a chipboard button with matching papers from bobunny alora. the red letters are from my stash – an older package of doodlebug alphabet buttons. thanks for popping by.
Penny Black and More – London Celebrates

it’s the first sunday of the month and this is my DT card for the penny black and more challenge; this month’s theme is London Celebrates in honour of the Queen’s Jubilee and the Olympics. my mother-in-law was a war bride from england and if she were still with us she’d be following all the festivities. i coloured this cute penny black image, ‘london calling,’ with distress inks, made confetti from leftover punched bits and made a flag pole for the banner. you’ll want to see the rest of the Design Team’s very creative cards and remember you don’t have to use a penny black image to play along for a chance to win some fabulous prizes from Penny Black, Stampalot, Crimson Cloud and Crafts U Love. thanks for popping by.
Shaking It Up

this is my second attempt at this shaker card, which is the challenge this week at the allsorts challenge; the flower soft wouldn’t move on my first try, so i had to double the tape. i’m also submitting it to joanna sheen’s challenge – flower power. thanks for popping by.
Birthday Tag

welcome to my new followers! i’ve been so busy with appointments and paperwork (not the fun kind) that i haven’t had much time to create or hop around in blog land and comment. out of desperation to play, i took time out to put together this very simple tag to submit to the stampalot challenge, which is celebrating two years. thanks for popping by and i hope to get caught up next week.
Cheesy Cupcake

it would have to be cheese flavoured for the mice, wouldn’t it? i coloured the image with distress inks and popped it on foam tape, added stickles to the cupcake and around the border. i’m submitting this to the ‘happy birthday’ stampalot challenge since they’re celebrating their 2nd birthday; the ‘someone special’ joanna sheen challenge and the paper players, who want to see CAS projects using watercolouring. thanks for popping by.
It’s Spring!

well i hope the spring weather is here to stay. i love using pink and green, so i inked up this cute sheep stamp and coloured ‘plimsoll pete’ with distress inks; he was a gift from a friend – thanks anne! if you have a long weekend, i hope you enjoy time with your family and that you’re able to enjoy some nice weather. thanks for popping by.
Exciting News!
i’ve been invited to join the design team at the Penny Black And More Challenge Blog. everyone has made me feel very welcome and they’ve been so patient with me as i learn blogger.

Butterfly Thank You

this month’s stampalot challenge is to be inspired by a DT member or a kit they used to create their cards. my inspiration came from the colours in the kit ribbon and francesca’s colourful butterfly card. the image is coloured with distress inks and watercolour pencils and of course i added stickles to their wings. i’m also playing along with the flutterby wednesday challenge, which has an open theme this week. thanks for popping by.
Digging Spring

spring is finally here! i missed the longer days of sunshine. although i no longer garden because of my RA, i can stamp and colour floral images; this is coloured with distress inks as usual and the edges were sponged. i’m submitting it to the penny black and more at all sorts springtime challenge and the joanna sheen spring is in the air challenge. thanks for popping by.
A Note From Hedgie

this was a very easy card to make for two reasons: the image is a penny black sticker and i followed penny black saturday challenge design team member nat’s sketch, which was very challenging but fun. thanks for popping by.
Playing Bingo
the Penny Black and More At Allsorts challenge this month is a colour bingo and i chose the line with yellow, white and black.

the penny black image is coloured with distress inks, of course, and i added black stickles to the centres. oh, and if my picture looks crooked, apparently my new computer’s photo editing software needs tweaking and who knows how long that will take. i know, i need to take straight pics to begin with, but i swear they look straight when i push that button. thanks for popping by.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
i needed to make a cute card so i used this sweet image and coloured it with distress inks; i’m submitting it to the following challenges:

card crafter’s circle – valentine’s love hearts
crafty bloggers network – love is in the air
thanks for popping by.
Jingle All The Way

this is my card for the jingle belles ‘a banner holiday’ challenge to be inspired by their new blog header. these hedgies came to mind, so i coloured them with distress inks and made a CAS card. after seeing the DT cards with the memory box jingle bell die, i’m tempted to add the die to my ever growing wish list. thanks for popping by.
