it’s the first sunday of the month so it’s time for a new theme at the penny black and more challenge blog; this month we’d like you to create ‘one for the girls.’

i’ve used this cute penny black mimi stamp, thank you anne, called bonjour! and, as usual, i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os.

i used an older cuttlebug embossing folder and sanded the core-dinations paper, added a my favorite things notebook die tag and daisy, also watercoloured with twinkling H2Os, and an elizabeth craft die cut hello.

the theme for day 11 of the Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge is ’twas the night before christmas.

i was inspired by the warm yellow lighting that both Sharon Harnist and Jean Manis, Day 11 designers, used so i painted a yellow glow around this indoor creature, a penny black mouse, and watercoloured with twinkling H2Os. i used a bright pink permanent marker to change the gold peel off sticker to pink and added some ribbon.

i managed to create another tag today; this is for day 4 of the ellen hutson’s 12 Tag of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015.

i was inspired by Kay Miller’s tag; i love the colours, the snowflakes and how she layered anther tag behind the first.

i die snowflakes from glitter paper using the lawn fawn mini snowflakes die and attached them to a turquoise tag die cut with the lawn fawn tag you’re it die. the background was stamped in white with the penny black Christmas Story stamp. thanks for popping by.

i’m slowly creating tags for the ellen hutson’s 12 Tag of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 Challenge and i finally finished my tag for day 2.

i was inspired by both designers’ tags for Day 2; i like the dimension Kittie Caracciolo achieved and Dina Kowal’s watercolouring. i used twinkling H2Os as usual to paint what i’m calling a christmas rose and all the leaves and i created the woodgrain pattern with pumice stone distress ink.

i’m back with a reminder that you still have plenty of time to play along with this month’s autumn colours theme at the penny black and more challenge. i made another halloween card; it’s one of the few times of the year that i use orange, my least favourite colour. :)

i watercoloured the sky and this cute little hedgie from the penny black ‘scary halloween’ clear stamp set with twinkling H2Os and matted it on a die cut white stitched circle, sponged with seedless preserves distress ink. the image is popped on foam tape against the textured orange cardstock, embossed with the darice fall leaf embossing folder. the sentiment is from the ‘trick or treat’ set.

i don’t know where september went! but since it’s october 1, it’s time for a new challenge theme at House Of Cards. this month we’d like you to add texture and/or use the colours in this inspiration photo:

i watercoloured this cute penny black scarecrow with twinkling H2Os and used some new ones that i just had to have – i rationalized that they’re fall colours and it’s my favourite time of year. for texture i added the memory box die cut pumpkins, also coloured with twinks and then shaped and popped on foam squares.

it’s hard to believe, but it’s the first of september so time for a new theme at the house of cards challenge; we’d like you to stitch it up and use either real or faux stitching on your creation.

i usually struggle with sentiments and where to put them so i stamp them inside. this time, i really went outside my comfort zone and decorated the die cut sentiment from the set ‘sweet wishes’ and added a stampendous grasshopper and a memory box butterfly.

In Loving Memory

i made this card in memory of my son who passed away six years ago today.

the image reminds me of all the adventurous stories my husband would make up and i think he passed on his vivid imagination to our son, who would create his own characters in his unique artistic style and in writing.

i water coloured this cute penny black hedgie image from the hugs! clear stamp set with twinkling H2Os; here’s my tip for Top Tip Tuesday – use unexpected colours; a clay pot doesn’t have to be coloured in rust tones.

i used marianne designs dies for the flowers and leaves, a punch for the tiny flowers and die cut the hello with the memory box typewriter alphabet lower case set.

it’s time for a new challenge theme at the house of cards and this month we’d like to see some creations with enamel dots, a fun product i’ve not used before.

for my DT card, i water coloured one of the chick images from the penny black chick to chick clear set with twinkling H2Os and added turquoise and yellow dots; the banners were included in the paper pad – my mind’s eye ‘the sweetest thing.’

for my DT card, i stamped a sentiment from the penny black ‘special wishes‘ clear stamp set with archival brilliance peacock ink on white glossy paper, layered it on blue shimmer card stock onto a pre made green card. the tiny butterfly is a peel off and so are the tiny dots but i coloured them to match with a permanent marker.

for my DT card, i stepped outside my comfort zone of coloured images and used sentiments from two penny black clear stamp sets: just a note…from tiny wishes (30-026) and it’s your special day from sweet wishes (30-104).

Penny Black And More – Mid January 2015

this is just a reminder post that there’s still plenty of time to play along with the penny black and more challenge; this month, we’d like to see you create with stencils, masks and embossing folders.

for this DT card, i used all three techniques: i created my own stencil with the penny black dots and swirls die that i sponged distress inks through and then i sponged blocks of distress inks to one of the masked off sides. the stitches are dry embossed and i added a tab from the kaisercraft paper pad and a tiny pink gem to the flower centre.

i coloured this cute penny black hedgie (a tender hug 3614F) with twinkling h2os and added stickles to the flower centres.

i found time to create another tag for Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2014 Challenge! i was inspired by Jill Foster’s Day 7 tag; her penny black images are always so colourful and vivid regardless of the medium she uses, but she used watercolour pencils on her tag. i painted this penny black image with: Albrecht Durer watercolour pencils, sennelier watercolour paints and my twinkling H20s. i’d also like to submit this to these challenges:

Penny Black And More December – Special Occasions

it’s time for a new theme at penny black and more challenge and this month we’d like to see creations for those special occasions; i’m sticking with christmas. i used Penny Black ‘Snowy‘ wood stamp 2521K to make another set of cards.

i kept the layout simple without any embellishments for mailing purposes – and for me too just because i don’t like mass producing cards, but i did them in stages so it worked out well.
