i painted the background with twinkling H2Os on watercolour paper, then stamped the hero arts holly and painted the leaves with the same twinks and added red stickles to the berries. i used red glitter paper to mat the image and attached it to the paper that i distressed the edges of. i’m submitting this to the christmas at sweet stampin’ challenge theme of festive foliage and the country view crafts challenge theme of painty pleasures. thanks for popping by.

A Tiny Christmas Greeting

when i saw the jingle belles prompt to make cards featuring inchies or twinchies, i realized just how challenging this was and it has taken me almost two weeks to come up with something and the deadline is only hours away. the penny black chick was die cut into an inchie, matted and framed with a twinchie and watercoloured with twinkling H2Os. i added stickles to the hat, embossed and sanded the border and lines and added a hand-tied bow; silly me, i thought it would be faster than my bow tool. thanks for popping by.
New Mittens

even though the holidays are behind us, i love making christmas cards year round. the first jingle belles prompt for this year is ‘old and new’ so i’ve used one year old papers, a four year old sentiment, an old gem and my brand new memory box mittens die. i’m also submitting this card to the ‘anything goes’ theme at christmas cards all year round. thanks for popping by.
Holiday Planner
i finally made a holiday planner and it didn’t take as long as i thought it would. i created this one from a red file folder for my daughter for christmas in her favourite colours and designs and i found some alphabet stickers in my stash that were just the right size and colour. i downloaded and printed the ‘pocket planner pages’ from organized christmas, but they also have full size binder sheets and there are several links to different planners.

now i have to make one for myself.
i’d like to submit this to these challenges:
little claire’s designs – make a gift
one crazy stamper – winter/holiday
crafting for all seasons – anything christmas but a card
heck of a challenge – colourful christmas
thanks for popping by.
Visions Of Sugarplums

i have another christmas card to share; i coloured this penny black mouse with distress ink pads and twinkling H2Os, added stickles to the stocking trim and added a sentiment and bow.
i’d like to submit this card to these challenges:
christmas cards all year round – christmas stockings
one crazy stamper – winter/holiday
loves rubber stamps – #83 holiday blitz anything goes
heck of a challenge – colourful christmas
natalie and amy’s – cute and cuddly
jingle belles – linkfest
thanks for popping by.
Christmas Caroler

although it wasn’t shown on the crafter’s companion challenge blog and i wasn’t given any explanation, this is my guest designer creation for december to use ribbon, twine or string. i coloured this mouse from the makey bakey ‘christmas carols’ stamp set with distress inks, added flock to his hat and coat trim and decoupaged the song book and his paws. i added snow and used stickles for the snow on the ground; the sentiment is a sticker and i added the memory box die cut numbers and a Dee’s Distinctively Dies tree.
i’d like to submit this to these challenges:
winter wonderland – numbers
cut it up – christmas and include a die cut
christmas at sweet stampin’ – snow
a little bit crafty – christmas cheer
one crazy stmper – winter/holiday
cute card thursday – celebrations
jingle belles – linkfest
thanks for popping by.
Penny Black And More December Mid-Month
this is my DT creation for this month’s traditional christmas colours theme at the penny black and more challenge.
i cut a tag from graphic 45’s december ‘place in time’ sheet, stamped the bird from penny black jolly friends 30-058 clear set, coloured with coloured pencils and added red stickles to the berries. remember, you can play along by using any stamp company’s image for your focal point, just no digis please and there are some fabulous prizes on offer. visit the blog for more inspiration from my teamies. i’m also submitting this to the jingle belles linkfest. thanks for popping by.
Snow Day

i created this card for the final papercraft star challenge; i was inspired to use the gorgeous colours in the inspiration photo and watercoloured this cute molly blooms stamp with twinkling H2Os. i got brave and tried the stampendous embossing enamel for the first time – fun stuff, but next time i’ll use a bit less.
i’m also submitting this card to christmas at sweet stampin‘s snow theme and the jingle belles linkfest. thanks for popping by.
A Christmas Robin

i’m still making christmas cards; i read on someone’s blog that as long as they’re postmarked before the 25th it’s ok so i feel better now. this cute little bird is a molly blooms stamp that i watercoloured with twinkling H2Os and distress ink pads. i added snow after i painted the sky, added stickles to the hat and made some poinsettias.
i’d like to submit this card to these challenges:
my time to craft – christmas birds
cute card thursday – christmas catch up
papercrafting journey – it’s christmas time
loves rubber stamps – # 82 anything goes christmas
papertake weekly – christmas creatures
Bunny Zoe’s Crafts Monthly Challenge – wings
stamp and create – anything goes
the artistic stamper – anything goes
ladybug crafts – christmas/winter
christmas cards all year round – christmas stockings thanks to gail’s suggestion
jingle belles – linkfest
thanks for popping by.
Warm And Cozy
the newton’s nook designs: inky paws challenge #5 is a sketch challenge; there are some really cute freebies that you can download to play along (and cute clear stamps to purchase) so i used the mittens to make this card. i coloured with pencil crayons, added red stickles to the hearts and used some leftover scraps that were the perfect size to complete this card. thanks for popping by.
Traditional Christmas

this is the card i made for my dad. i used two memory box dies: the grand merry christmas, perfectly sized for an A2 card, and the winterberry sprig along with the spellbinders poinsettia die and of course i added stickles.
i’d like to submit it to these challenges:
little claire’s designs – christmas theme
a creative romance – sparkle at christmas
creative corner – traditional christmas
papercrafting journey – it’s christmas time!
DRS Designs – glitter it up
songbird – die another day
ladybug crafts – christmas/winter
jingle belles – linkfest
thanks for popping by.
Penny Black And More December- Traditional Christmas
it’s the first sunday of december already and time for a new theme at the penny black and more challenge. this month we’d like to see ‘traditional christmas colours’ and remember, you can use any company’s stamp image for your focal point, just no digis.

i watercoloured this penny black hedgie (christmas critters 30-006) with distress ink pads, stamped the penny black text (christmas story 40-164) in white and used a sentiment from flonz (happy birthday greetings.wishes 354-08-014-0). i added some flocking to his hat and of course the scene needed some snow. thanks for popping by.
Snow Globe Bird
this is my second creation for this week’s less is more challenge to make a christmas card and use a bird, but this one is eligible.
in addition to my RA, i’ve had other health issues the last couple of weeks so i’ve not had much time to play. i submitted the first bird card with several tabs open for challenges, but i wasn’t concentrating and forgot to check the rules; oops, but a couple of designers at less is more were kind enough to leave some comments along with a gentle reminder. so, here’s another card using another cute penny black chick coloured with coloured pencils, flower soft on his hat, and stickles on the ground. the snow globe die is from memory box.
i’d also like to submit this to little claire’s designs – christmas theme.
thanks for popping by.
CAS Christmas Bird
i haven’t been well enough to create as much as i’d like to or *need* to, but i managed to make a very CAS christmas card.
i coloured this little penny black chick with coloured pencils, added flower soft to his hat, stickles to the ground and i used washi tape for the first time – fun and much more precise than my sentiment stamping.
i’m submitting this to the following challenges:
sandra’s last rudolph day challenge for the year – to make holiday cards on the 25th of every month
little claire’s designs – christmas theme
stampin’ for the weekend – feeling festive
addicted to stamps and more – make your mark (colouring)
CAS on sunday – winter theme
one crazy stamper – christmas (2nd entry)
designed to color – christmas/winter
less is more – christmas and use a bird
thanks for popping by.
Penny Black And More Mid Month – November
this is my mid-november design team creation for the penny black and more challenge theme of anything goes!

i watercoloured this tiny mouse image from the penny black jolly friends clear set (30-058) with distress inks and added some snow dots and stickles on the pom pom. there are some fabulous prizes and remember that to be eligible, your focal point has to be a stamped image and it can be any company’s stamped image, just no digis.
i also made this for the current jingle belles prompt by guest star and regular participant Marie Bingaman, who suggested family holiday traditions which, for marie, changed after the passing of her grandfather and then her father. christmas, like many other holidays, is more painful without a loved one and many families no longer participate in traditions or they create new ones. when my son passed away four years ago, everything changed and i had to force myself to accept the ‘new normal.’ our christmas is now a scaled down version so my tiny tag was inspired by the tiny tree, tiny ornaments and much smaller dinner.
since i used a tag from the cheery lynn designs (B261) which measures about 1 and 1/2″ tall, i’m also submitting this to the cheery lynn designs challenge blog.
thanks for popping by.
Waiting For Christmas

i won a guest designer spot for the crafter’s companion challenge blog for october to december, but there were a few hiccups with the blog; this is my november card for the christmas/winter theme. i watercoloured this makey bakey mouse with distress inks and twinkling H2Os, added red glass beads to the holly, flower soft on the coat and stickles around the edge of the image rectangle. the red star was die cut from glitter paper and the december 25 star sentiment was stamped from the makey bakey mouse festive fun & frolics set and cut out by hand. the papers are doodlebug’s home for the holidays. thanks for popping by.
Twinkling Christmas Wreath – Penny Black And More

this is my DT card for this month’s penny black and more challenge, which is anything goes! i enjoy making christmas cards year round, but i’m making more lately because they’ll have to be mailed off in a month already. i watercoloured this image with twinkling H2Os and the tiniest of paintbrushes. i stamped the sentiment, created the corners by die cutting four times, and then i matted everything. there are some fabulous prizes to be won and remember, you can use any company’s image for your focal point, just no digis. my team mates have made some gorgeous creations which you’ll find at the challenge blog. thanks for popping by.
Christmas Wreath

i’m really cutting it close to the deadline for this week’s cheery lynn design challenge to use borders and edgers. i cut the wreath strip border die 4 times and attached the branches to die cut circles; each layer was popped with foam tape and i added stickles and some red glass seed beads. i used the frame 141 window die to create the window panels, which i lightly sponged with distress ink and then i trimmed the window frame and attached it to another rectangle which is also on foam tape. finally, i added a red bow.
i’d also like to submit this to the one crazy stamper challenge christmas theme this month, the allsorts challenge theme of christmas cheer and the crafty calendar challenge november theme of all things christmas. thanks for popping by.
Ready For Snow

whew! it’s been a very busy month, mostly due to volunteer activities so it was fun and relaxing to teach a class on saturday at papercraft cafe using twinkling H2Os; the ladies did a fabulous job and i love how each project was so unique, despite all of us using the same stamps.
well i’m not ready for snow, but penguins like playing in it and the current jingle belles prompt is ‘not a creature was stirring… i cut around the image freehand, watercoloured with distress inks, matted it and added the memory box border – another quick and easy holiday card.
this is also my rudolph day card for sandra’s challenge to create holiday cards on the 25th of every month; she’d like to see something festive this month – maybe this penguin is going somewhere festive with that top hat. thanks for popping by.
Shaped Like Santa

i’m playing along with the jingle belles and their current prompt to ‘shape-up for the holidays.’ i made a clean and simple round card, using black glossy paper for santa’s belt and the white is a mulberry paper with strands of gold, although it doesn’t show well in the photo. thanks for popping by.
Christmas Robins

this month’s magenta challenge is anything goes so i decided to make a christmas card; i watercoloured the robins and sky with twinkling H2Os, added a ribbon and i have another CAS card for my stash. i’m also submitting this card to these challenges:
rudolph day – to make christmas cards on the 25th of every month
emma’s crafty challenge – birds
one crazy stamper – christmas
addicted to stamps and more – CAS
get inky! – song about the birds and the bees
thanks for popping by.
Winter’s Butterfly

this was a fun christmas card to make; i coloured the image with letraset aquamarkers, painted the sky with twinkling H2Os, added flowersoft to her hat and coat trim and stickles to the snow drifts i created. i’m submitting this to a couple of challenges: i used the layout at the sweet sketch wednesday, played bingo with the jingle belles (snowman/woman, stamping, red or green) and this is my august rudolph day card.
thanks for popping by.
Sleigh Bells Ring

the current jingle belles prompt of ‘Sleigh Belles Ring’ was suggested by talented guest star jessi fogan; we could make a card with a sleigh, or bells or sheet music, but i challenged myself to use all three. i coloured this penny black sleigh image with distress ink pads and twinkling H2Os, added some clear embossed musical notes from penny black’s clearly in love set and added a row of memory box jingle bells.
i’m also submitting this card to:
sandra’s rudolph day challenge
penny black’s beat the heat challenge – the thought of snow has a cooling effect
penny black saturday – christmas in july
stamp and create – christmas in july
winter wonderland – ding dong merrily on high; use bells
thanks for popping by.
Keeping Cool

whew, such a busy week – it was so nice to be able to sit and create this christmas card that i’m giving to my daughter to add to her stash; besides, during this heat wave, snow sounds good to me. i coloured the snowman with twinkling H2Os and distress inks, added stickled snowflakes and followed the your next stamp july sketch challenge.
i’m also submitting this to these challenges:
sweet stampin’ – christmas in july
christmas at sweet stampin’ – snowman
a little bit crafty – “die-ing for it!”
stamp and create – christmas in july
christmas card challenges – christmas cards with the option of snowflakes
thanks for popping by.
Shaking It Up

this week’s impression obsession challenge is what’s shakin’ so i had fun creating this shaker card. i coloured the Winter Fun image (MC246) with twinkling H2Os and added chunky glitter. i’m also playing along with the christmas in july theme at simply create too, the holly jolly christmas challenge to use something new: new stamp and papers and the christmas in july theme at make my monday. thanks for popping by.
My First Digi Christmas Card

i love to watercolour everything and since my printer just chews up my watercolour paper, i don’t do digis. but the talented gina cunningham is the jingle belles‘ guest star who wants us to make a “hybrid” holiday card which utilizes at least one digital element – yikes. i did win a digistamp boutique gift certificate last year and printed one of the images onto 90 lb. watercolour paper that pills with too much water so i made a tiny 3″ card and carefully coloured with distress ink pads and a tiny brush. i cut away some of the memory box frosty border to fit and added stickles. this is also for my friend sandra’s rudolph day challenge – there are only 5 more rudolph days before you need to send out your holiday cards – just thought i’d mention it. thanks for popping by.
Funny Snowmen

i’ve had these basic grey papers for quite some time, but i just couldn’t come up with an idea to use what i call the goofy snowmen. thanks to stephanie’s sketch at the jingle belles, this card came together very quickly and i finally cut into some of my stash of papers. i stamped the penny black snowman, sponged the edge with distress ink and used a sentiment from the same clear set. i think i’ll have to make some more cards with this layout. thanks for popping by.
Rudolph Day In May

i followed sketch #65 at retro sketches to quickly create this card for my friend sandra’s rudolph day challenge to make your holiday cards on the 25th of every month; i just made it because the deadline is in 5 hours. thanks for popping by.
Merry & Bright

i created this CAS card for the merry and bright jingle belles prompt to use bright colours and the winter wonderland challenge theme of oh christmas tree. the ‘jingle’ was cut out already so i only added the dotted background and the tree sticker; very quick and easy, which is about my speed right now. thanks for popping by.
Christmas Joy

a warm welcome and thank you to a new follower.
i made this card for the jingle belles prompt, which is holiday things that fly: angels, doves, cardinals, sparrows, Rudolph pulling Santa’s sleigh… you name it!. i did try to use a bird, several times, but it just wasn’t working, so i switched to this hang gliding mouse which fits the ‘you name it’ category. i coloured the image with twinkling H2Os and i used sketch #63 for the ‘sketchie free for all’ for this week’s papertake weekly. thanks for popping by.
Rudolph Day April 2013

i haven’t had much time for card making lately so it was fun to create this card for my friend sandra’s rudolph day challenge to work on those christmas cards every 25th of the month. marie, the owner of papercraft cafe, taught me the burnished velvet technique with ritz glitter and this is the first time i used watercolour pencils to colour the glitter. i coloured the silver peel off sentiment with a red permanent marker, embossed the white glitter paper with the snowflake embossing folder and i was done, just in time to meet today’s deadline.
i’m submitting this to the moxie fab world watercolor challenge. thanks for popping by.
Recycled Christmas Cards

i’m just making today’s deadline for the jingle belles earth day special to create a card that includes a recycled element. a family member sent me a very large card last year with three adorable and fuzzy little penguins on it; i die cut all three and created these 4 and 1/4″ square cards with them. i stamped the penny black christmas text in gold, added the memory box die cut jingle bells and added some more glitter to each image. and, just because i have trouble stamping straight sentiments, i used a gold peel off. thanks for popping by to view my 400th post.
Winter Scenery

welcome to some new followers; thank you for taking an interest in what i create.
i’ve been a little under the weather and running out of time, so i created this CAS card with dies and stamps and combined a couple of challenges:
jingle belles – neutral noel and it’s due in 2 hours so i’m really just getting it done in time
rudolph day – my friend sandra encourages everyone to create cards on the 25th of every month
brenda – at floral fantasies is celebrating her blogaversary and almost 4000 followers – congratulations! i would never attempt to replicate one of brenda’s beautiful cards, but she does create some gorgeous outdoor scenes so that’s what i was thinking of when i made this card.
thanks for popping by.
Christmas Cards All Year Round – Guest Designer
i’d like to thank tracey for inviting me to be a guest designer this month at the christmas cards all year round challenge. for this month’s theme of sparkle and bling, i created three cards with glitter, although it doesn’t show as well in daylight. this first card is 3 x 6 and i die cut the ornaments from glitter paper and changed the colour of holographic peel offs with a permanent marker; the base is copper shimmer card stock.

i added stickles to the edge of the top die cut layer, the leaves and poinsettia. the base is also cut with shimmer card stock.

i used stickles again on this card for santa’s coat and hat trim, the snow in the image, the die cut snowflakes and even the bunny tails; everything is coloured with distress ink pads and a brush.

for more sparkly inspiration, check out the CCAYR design team creations at the challenge blog. thanks for popping by.
My Favourite Technique

the impression obsession challenge is your favourite technique – mine is colouring with any dye or water based products; i coloured this impression obsession poinsettia H8301 with distress inks and twinkling H2Os and i also used some of my other favourites: pink and green, stickles, texture and making christmas cards. the sentiment, enjoy the splendor D6165, is also an impression obsession stamp. thanks for popping by.
